I would recommend someone in the community become a SHIFT "Evangelist". I would donate 10% of my $SHF to someone who wants to try and do it.

The devs are doing so much. It would be nice to seem someone new helping out. There is huge potential for this coin to make many people into millionaires.

Yea im all about showing some support, I do believe the shift twitter needs to be a little more active with PR and marketing. IMO with only a handful of ETH clones we are super cheap market cap wise.

I sent .04 btc for the explorer, hope it helps!

Well we're a bit hesitant to use the official account for anything besides development updates but we completely understand the lack of efficient marketing.

What kind of promotion would you like to see? Let us know if you have some ideas Smiley

I would recommend someone in the community become a SHIFT "Evangelist". I would donate 10% of my $SHF to someone who wants to try and do it.

The devs are doing so much. It would be nice to seem someone new helping out. There is huge potential for this coin to make many people into millionaires.

I am still trying to get the equipment to mine. I got rid of my dual 7970's back in 2014 with the onset of Scrypt ASICs. However when I do rebuild my plan was to not mine Ethereum but instead a fork of Ethereum because if done correctly the developers here can improve this protocol to a much more consistent level of service and availability in regards to 'Smart Contracts' just simply by viewing the mistakes (errors) that are made over at Ethereum and how the Ethereum devs correct errors. This allows for SHIFT to not only have a cleaner development record but also it allows the SHIFT devs to improve even further on the corrections made by the Ethereum devs without having to subject the SHIFT Community to any grief because knowing that these things will happen ahead of time and preventing them will allow for a much smoother rise in the price of SHIFT. SHF is almost at a penny guys so with Ethereum at 68 cents we are talking maybe a Bitcoin/Litecoin type comparison even though their blockchains are different due to the scrypt hashing algorithm. This is the first ETH fork which historically the first forks of Bitcoin a the primary money coins of today like PPC, NMC, LTC etc. because they are trusted.

It would be nice to start mining this before the end of the year supporting the Network. Articles will need to be written in classic style hardball style or even a guerrilla type perspective. It would be nice to get it in a documentary next year and submit it to as many film festivals that take free submissions as possible. Bitfilm Festival was missed this year as submissions ended on 10/21/15, they are so busy that they have yet to respond to anything. That means Bitfilm Festival 2015 will be big and next years will be even bigger. A supporting Twitter ReTweet Account needs to be put together. You guys have nearly 2 GH/s mining on the SuperNova Pool which is impressive. If you can get its up to 4 GH/s it will equal 1% of the Ether Hashrate. Reading the forum over there many miners are shutting down do to low profitability. Those people need to come over here and run on the this network and possibly produce something like the 'Bar-B-Que Coin' effect which back in summer of 2013 an unknown LTC fork 'Bar-B-Que Coin' became more profitable to mine than Litecoin and Litecoin at the time was more profitable than Bitcoin since not everyone had FPGAs and BFL was going to town with our pre-ordered ASICs. True there was a lot of people coming into Crypto and buying and mining coins but it happened. Its also incumbent to not only mine to support the Network and future profit but also to buy what people dump.

I know a guy that has hinted towards redesigning the whole insurance Industry to run on Ethereum. He was #2 man at the largest Insurance company in the Country (USA) and is on fire for this Crypto Industry as a whole. All it would take is something like that to land here and its all about top 10 on the CoinMarketCap. Its people like that need to be approached along with a study on how many other Industries could be redesigned to run of a 'Smart Contract' based protocol like this such as 'UBER' and once conclusions are made the leaders of those Industries need to be approached. The loss of $9 Million Dollars over at Ethereum is not going to be very good on the Ethereum Resume. It could scare Industry away or worse be considered the mark comparable to Bitcoin and the bad press from 'The Silk Road' where everyone in the mainstream still thinks every Bitcoiner is a Criminal. Since this is finance I seriously doubt the Old Foggie Stogies that run things will want to trust converting an industry to run on a protocol that in todays times blew off however it happened $9 Million Dollars. However SHIFT is clean.

Guys, I don't even know what I am talking about so take this with a grain of salt like you should when anyone has something to say. I apologize for hijacking this thread. I have been around since 2011 and have yet to accomplish anything that has been of any benefit to myself as of yet while having every opportunity to do so. You guys are doing a spectacular job from an outsiders perspective. As an outsider I would want to be here than over at Ethereum. This is because you guys have the guts to do what is not easy but instead you do what is hard and what is right, which might not always be especially now what is popular, but just. To see that kind of steadfast courage is what freedom and free market capitalism is all about. Projects like this prevent Monopoly Capitalists (Elites) from totally dominating over us like they have done for so long through Central Banking and the Cabals within their ranks which make up our current monetary system which needs to go but never will, however its technologies and individuals like you all, that hopefully can keep those Banksters in check. I believe in that context that many others that have yet to discover SHIFT or Bitcoin for that matter will see things in the same light.

Personally im not a fan of coin giveaways, but I do feel twitter is a good way to get the word out about the project. Just updates, new/updated future plans, ect. If people are not monitoring this thread they will never really know whats going on.

I get that you don't necessarily want to flood twitter with a bunch of nonsense, just real work/results. Maybe find a middle ground.

Expanse is doing a Q and A session. Something like this sure wouldnt be bad

In marketing you have to put your money where your mouth is. Don't expect the marketers to see things in the same light nor try to pay them with something today worth very little and expect them to hope that it becomes valuable one day. It matters not what you have, the only thing that matters is the price it is that day.

The best Crypto Marketer is Lisa Cheng of Vanbex. They probably charge $3-$5k a month with no guarantees. However she produces results.  If you want a team that produces results for a lot less Vindyne8 (John) is who you need to talk to. I would recommend using both. Although you will never find anyone better than fellow team members or community members that are die hard enthusiasts to market for you.

Community members can use or build their twitter accounts up or create Retweet accounts and really get the word out. The Tweets might seem redundant but its that way for a reason because a serious volley creates memories in the unconverted and leads to either them researching further or that 'I can't get that song out of my head' effect which both are positive for the message because either way the person at least remembers the message.

Well written articles are important. If your a geek make sure not to write like one, just let it flow and source the important data through links or footnotes instead of trying to explain it. Making or getting included in a viral documentary or film that is guerrilla marketed free without charge is great along with Film Festivals. Even if your film places last at least it was viewed, sometimes around the world.

The Twitter Accounts for this here are sparse. Thats probably best for the official account but even thats not certain. I put together a SHIFT ReTweet Account @SHIFT_RTs https://twitter.com/SHIFT_RTs and will try to do my best to retweet the material on this plus my main account. I only retweet two other coins that I am involved with and like. I rarely retweet anything else unless its a one time favor. I focus only on what is important, what I like and believe in and what benefits me. I also have no problem pulling the chute and bailing out if the plane is going to crash.

I am going to get some GPUs and buy some SHIFT if and when I can. Plus ReTweet what is put out from official or trusted sources regarding SHIFT. There will be a documentary made for next years Film Festivals. I was part of a film crew in 2011 that made a documentary that has had millions of views, voted most viewed film on PBS National in 2011 and sells on iTunes today. My friend in New Mexico wants to get involved in Crypto and has agreed to work another project. He is the shit when it comes to films- http://thefilmmakerschannel.com if things work out SHIFT along with 2 other CryptoCurrencies including Bitcoin could possibly be covered within a 50 minute time frame format or well done short film.

I think there is something here. I have been planning this in my head for a while. If this ends up working for me I will be stoked. If anyone needs to contact me just send a PM. I am not one to get into long explanations or FUD sessions in forums. Lets see how this goes. You guys are all doing an amazing job here. Its an exciting place to be right now.

That's like one of the worse advices I have ever heard in here. I agree that Twitter is vital for every coin's (or asset etc..) success, but not because some people are spamming about it, but because its a place where some important people can notice you. If you make some research for like 3 mins, you will find that Lisa Cheng and Vanbex Twitter accounts has less than 4k followers combined. They doesn't seem to tweet a lot either. I'm not saying that they are not working, but for like $3-5k/month I think that they can do better. I have talked with Vindyne8 several times and I think he is a nice guy, but he is promoting just about every coin that pays. Nothing wrong with that, but by "just about every coin" I mean literally 100s of coins, no matter if the coin is called TurboGoatBitcoin or whatever. As you all know success rate of such coins is not very good... not to mention that they are not serious.

SHIFT guys are not Ethereum (which Lisa Cheng seems to support) and they don't have millions of $ to support it. Cryptocurrencies are about technology, but they have also turned into something from which certain people are just making money of. They don't care about their future at all. Your advice is to pay to some people, which will work for you, but there is no passion involved in that. The best thing you can do here is to earn the respect and love of the people. They will then invest in you and will protect their investment. It is always extremely hard (especially in the past 1-2 years) thing to achieve, but that is how things should work when we are talking about technology.

shift team still here?

The problem is known, the Shift-team is working on it (I hope so).
You can use  the old V0.3 binaries (from github) to prevent this.

yes, i figured out commit 689ac0dfbb17ca4b92f385e983cbaa4a4267f097 was causing this, however experimental stuff should go to the dev branch and not to the master branch...
or at least remember to tag stable versions...

Vanbex used to have connections to every crypto "NEWS" site. These are actually blogs but for some reason people call them news sites. They would also host conferences or pay for their clients to be speakers at conferences. They had connections to youtube personalities/shows. They would hire trolls to promote their stuff. They buy advertising.

Things have changed a bit now. New "NEWS" blogs have come on the scene. New youtube shows have started. These aren't in the same circle. Vanbex is still a great option but they don't have the same influence they used to.

They haven't promoted anything for a long time. They might have broken up and/or lost connections where they used to have them.

Vitalik Buterin seems to be the new person you talk to if you want media attention or investments.

I don't want to be mean but Vindyne8 promotes such garbage... I actually use his twitter account as "What NOT to buy". I hope it changes one day for the better. I also don't think his audience has much money to invest. Once crypto takes off in a few months and real good coins have money, I could see things changing and his stuff becoming more legit.

You could copy what Vanbex does. It just costs a lot of money. Each "NEWS" site costs $50 to $500 for an article. Being a conference speaker costs $500 to $3000. You could pay off Twitter accounts secretly. Probably $5 to $50 a person per tweet. You could hire trolls who have multiple accounts on social media for $20 to $200 a day. You could pay youtube personalities to do a show on SHIFT for maybe $100 to $500. You could buy ads.

BUT... EVERYONE FORGETS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING:

The SHIFT dev is ANONYMOUS!!!!!!!! You can't do media promotion with an anonymous dev. You need a Community member/Evangelist/Supporter like Andreas Antonopoulos.

We need someone to be the face of SHIFT. Someone who knows it's inner workings and who can speak well in public. This would be a difficult job and why I'd be willing to give away quite a bit of SHIFT to this person.

The last thing I wanted to do was come here and give bad advice. I had no idea that Vanbex was not really active. I can just remember some of their success stories which took place back in 2014 however I never had any idea how they go about things. I also never suggested spamming Twitter but only retweeting all the tweets consecutively but spam no way, that would piss people of when we are trying to convert them to the superior technology at hand.

Also regarding recommending Vanbex and Vindyne8 I did end that paragraph with this "Although you will never find anyone better than fellow team members or community members that are die hard enthusiasts to market for you." Which I believe was my way of expressing what you had to say here "Your advice is to pay to some people, which will work for you, but there is no passion involved in that." which I totally agree with you.

I also agree with what you said here "The best thing you can do here is to earn the respect and love of the people." I also do want to point out that I never asked for anything here. The suggestions were not the best but I was not proposing payment for anything. I just want to help out where I can and mine to support the Network and buy when I have extra money is all.

For any errors made I stand to do my best to correct them. "A wise man once said that an error only becomes a mistake when you refuse to correct them" JFK 1961 Speech to the Press
