well its been about an hour on my new s7.. temps are 56, 59, and 57. its running at stock 700..
i was going to underclock it and try to use the one 1300W psu, but i decided to run it full speed and use a 750W psu to power one of the boards instead.

it makes a wind tunnel noise, kind of hollow sounding... its nice that i fixed the howling fan, sucks i might have to get a new fan when i start up my s5 again.

i wonder if i stick some foam padding on the outside if it will quiet down the hollow sounding.
or maybe a foam padded box with fan holes. maybe just cut holes in the box it came in. if i cut the box in a H pattern i can fold in the tabs and use those as air ducts..

i saw the one post where the guy put it in a air duct.. but i dunno about that. those ducts are expensive.

The ducts are sometimes expensive but not always. You can try using a pwm fan from noctua and using that, but the cfm from those is a bit on the low side and s7s tend to not like those fans. They run real hot with those but if you hate heat, dont use em.Ducts are cheap and work well. Bitmain didn't work on cooling very well.. considering s7s are nearly the same size as s5s and s3s. They still have a good miner, but they might want to think about cooling for their future miners.
S7s under and overclock very well, so if you wanted to do that to make it quieter, it works.

the s7 fan is 4500 RPM, the s5 fan is 4100 RPM and i have 2 AFB1212SHE fans that are 3800 RPM and i also have a TFC1212DE fan that spins at 5800 RPM.. altho that thing is loud enough to hear outside through the walls. and a few s3 fans not sure what the max speed those are.. they never got above 2000 RPM in the s3.

tomorrow i am going to play around and see if i can find a good combo.

with the enclosed case, and the high static 4400 rpm fans i think its causing a lot of pressure, causing the air to make the noise.
it kind of looks like they didnt do any kind of research at all trying to see what would work best.. if you can get the air to flow better it might even cool them off better.

might even run to frys to get a cheap 4.99 120mm fan to break the insides out and use as a spacer to see if that helps.

i did already notice that fan 3 slows down at a steeper curve then fan 1, so maybe if i can split the fans with a Y cable and run them at the same speed instead of one slower then other it might help

first set fans manually to 50%

70% is top speed.

50% should drop to about 3700 rpm

check your  temps  at 50% you should be lower then 65C.  this is free to try .

ok so with the s7 fans, i did add a fan guard to the rear one from my s3.
i set the fans to 50% and the speed to 650..
this gives me an ok sound, with temps of 52,55,53.

ill live with this for now.

the speed of the fans are 3720.

you have a pm about that psu for the s5.

Noticed Bitmain removed the reference to being able to use coupons given before Chinese New Year?  Sucks.  Was ready to order 15-20 more but I guess I might hold off on that.

while I would have wanted to use them and surely purchased more why do they do this?

I find it insulting. Plus disrespectful to their customers.

So  if they did not do it I would have most likely have placed my order for 4 more units.  Now if I do that I feel I would be cheated 0.20 btc.

Which would be easier to do if they had ever paid my compensation for my batch one.

Well I will think about what to do .   Meanwhile I will mine a bit more.

Batch 12 just showed up for $665!!! This will hurt resell value of our units.  They should have end it at batch 11.  Sad

Amazing thing is that in the UK people are still selling these on ebay at £1200 ($1600)...

Rich

Is someone buying?

well there is vat and import duty  so a 665 + 55 shipping = 720 and 30%? =   940   still a very big markup

940 vs 1600

at this price of 665 .

I may get 4 more for my clients.

There is no import duty, only VAT.

I am wondering who buys these crap anymore ...
even with low increases as 8 %,  cheap electricity and absolutely no issues during mining, you will not make back even half of the investment

Ya, it does say on the site that they will ship earlier if they have stock... but I am grateful to have it here 3 days before I was expecting it to ship!
They have just been adjusting the price and copy/pasting the page contents since batch 8 or 9 anyway... have a feeling that's why the coupon statement stuck around after they expired

I am paying with BTC not USD so I don't care if BTC goes up to 500 or 1000, and who pays only 6 cents per KW ? and only 4 % jumps ? you really think that is possible ? because I don't

Yup, I am about to move some gear back to IA where large general service rates can get down to about 3.5-4 cents /kwhr... plus northern climates have longer winters which helps on cooling

This has happened to me too, several different units.  On one occasion it was correlated with a temporary loss of internet connection.  This affected one unit, but the others worked OK.  The symptoms were that the O/S had crashed.  The miner web interface did not respond, nor would it respond to a ping at its IP address. The only cure was to power cycle.

I have no idea what the future will bring.

but I can show this to you:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Feb 22 2015   46,684,376,317   5.01%   334,179,783 GH/s
Mar 08 2015   47,427,554,951   1.59%   339,499,662 GH/s
Mar 22 2015   46,717,549,645   -1.50%   334,417,246 GH/s
Apr 05 2015   49,446,390,688   5.84%   353,951,052 GH/s
Apr 19 2015   47,610,564,513   -3.71%   340,809,696 GH/s
May 03 2015   47,643,398,018   0.07%   341,044,727 GH/s
May 17 2015   48,807,487,245   2.44%   349,377,603 GH/s
May 31 2015   47,589,591,154   -2.50%   340,659,563 GH/s

Jun 14 2015   49,692,386,355   4.42%   355,711,957 GH/s

this means from Feb 22 2015 to June 13 2015

diff was 46.68 to 47.59   that was all of    march, apr, may,  that is 92 days  plus 7 in feb and 13 in june is 112 days

of very flat diff.

http://www.quotenet.com/currencies/historical-prices/USD-BTC

low price on feb 22 ,  2015     234

low price on June 13, 2015     230

I want you to understand you could be correct about the diff and it could jump 8%

But you could be wrong about the diff and it could flatline.

This is why people still buy the s-7.

Also they may be like me and can get 0 to 6 cent power.

I have a EVGA G2 1300W PSU for sale which is great for powering the S7 as well as extra EVGA single PCI-E cables that I can sell for cheap.  I also have a bunch of left over PCI-E cables for server PSU.  PM me if anyone is interested.  Doing some Spring cleaning.  =)
