After having few results now I have feeling mostly players were here just for show up because their performance was not as they needed to give and having good chance of winning medals for their countries.

No way - players are here in search of Olympic Gold. This is one of Tennis' top
accolades just like winning a grand slam. We had this point made already on this
page.


Quarter finals today in the womens side. Kerber has found great form to beat
Paolini yesterday but faces a tough opponent in Zheng. I believe Kerber
is finding results because this is her last season before retirement and
so is playing with a degree of freedom and a slightly different mindset.

Unfortunately, Angelique lost today against Zhang. The match was super exciting, but Kerber looked a bit tired, which is not surprising as German veteran had a tough match against Paolini as you mentioned. At some point, the match started to resemble U12 junior tennis with almost exclusively lob shots. Unfortunately, these attempts to conserve energy failed as Kerber lost the 3rd set on a tie break.

Another amazing match was Alcaraz/Rafa vs US doubles specialist duo Ram/Krajicek. Unfortunately, the Olympic dream has ended for Rafa: their team lost 2:6, 4:6. The opponents were showing typical doubles play with great serves and frequent net takeovers.
  

Thats a pity for Rafa, Olympic Gold is gone with the defeat to those specialist doubles
with vast experience both as doubles and doubles partners.


Zheng did well to beat in form Kerber but Zheng is herself in form coming into
this tournament.

She has taken the first set against Swiatak and its on serve in the second set.
She looked a bit troubled in the first set but like all No.1's first set loss doesnt
spell the end. Still heavy favourite @ 1.36

Rafael Nadal is just not even close to his good form not even close to a solid form. It wasnt realistic for him to win a medal at the olympics even with Alcaraz in the doubles. They arent doubles players and Nadal in singles isnt good now and we seen it against Djokovic

Im hoping that Djokovic didnt hurt his knee too much in yesterdays game against Tsitsipas. I was thinking it was all over for him with how he was moving but he was able to recover. I wonder what kind of effect will it have against Musetti today. He also always struggles with him but wins in the end.

I was expecting she is going to add Gold Medal into her tally of wins, but sadly we have to face these realities as well, but now few minutes back we have won for the Swiatek against Slovenian Schmiedlova for the Bronze Medal game, and we will have final tomorrow between Zheng and Vekic even odds are clearly favouring Zheng, but I have strong feeling Vekic can give surprise in this Gold Medal game.

Alcaraz won his game against Auger-Aliassime and have spot into final where now we are waiting for the winner from the second semifinal which is going to play between top seed Djokovic vs Musetti where top seed Djokovic is hot favourite for win but his knee injury concerns creating some feud about his win in this game Musetti doing good job in last few games as well.

Paolini suffers defeat in single event but now having good chance of winning Gold Medal in women doubles as she is going to have final against Russian girls where she and her partner looking strong enough for having Gold Medal.

I am disappointed as Nadal and Alcaraz lost their chances to won Gold Medal in double event, but few minutes back we have winner from the Australia Ebden and Peers won their match against Ram and Krajicek now we have another game with the USA is going to win Bronze Medal as well in this event.

I am having no doubt about this Alcaraz is going to have his first Olympics Gold Medal in tomorrow game because currently he is playing amazing and no one can stop him from winning this game on Clay with Djokovic having knee problems.

Qinwen Zheng really played well and got the Gold medal for China by defeating the Croatian tennis player Donna Vekić. She won by 6-2, 6-3. Yeah the second set was a close one initially but the final results will tell you that Zheng win the three consecutive games in the 2nd set to get the gold medal.  Of course, she is the better of the two.  and it was a memorable moment for her.
We still have Women's Doubles Gold Medal to be played tomorrow.

Unfortunately Zheng was much better today. She is a better player overall as well.

It is a huge success for Vekić and Croatia, the first female tennis Olympic medal and the first one in singles after Ivanišević's bronze from 1992.

Musetti took Bronze yesterday in the Mens singles and the Italians today will get
Silver today. All round great result for Italy.

Yes definitely great result for Italian tennis. For sure these are unique results since these results were never achieved ...

Musetti said that here he didnt earn ATP point but It was the same a great result to be achieved.
Who knows if Sinner could get and advantage from missing this tournament

The big final has already started and as of now, we are witnessing some great tennis. To everyone's surprise, Djokovic is leading the first set at 4-3. I hope Djokovic continues with the same speed and form for three sets (if we go into the third set).

Seeing the odds, Alcaraz gives you 1.5 odds while betting on Djokovic will give very handsome odds of over 2.7.
Since i want Djokovic to win this Gold Medal, I am betting on him. I know that Alcaraz may win this but i can't bet on him because i love Djokovic game more. Sometimes you know that other person has more chance of winning but just out of love for a player, you can't bet on him.

Finally Djokovic was able to win his first gold medal, unfortunately I missed this match and looking at the statistics it was clearly a tight match because it took about 3 hours even though it was only two sets. Djokovic proved that he still has the ability to compete but for the hardcourt season there might be some tournaments that he will miss and only focus on the US Open to defend his title

Yes, it was worth watching this final match. Although the game was finished in 2 sets but it was won by Djokovic 7-6, 7-6. Both players fought hard but Djokovic experience paid off this time and he can say that he has taken the revenge for the Wimbledon loss.
By the way, in this match, Alcaraz looked a bit more nervous and tense as compared to his opponent.
Also after the Djokovic winning the Gold medal, we saw some emotional scenes as her daughter said that her daddy is the best.

High emotions indeed, this is proof that while these guys are not getting paid,
no points earned playing for their country means so much!

That match was seriously high quality, super match and Djokovic was back at
his top again, something to behold.

Well done to all those who had a bet on Djokovic. 2 tie breaks got my over 23.5
bet.
