Is it a good long term investment to buy 1 BTC today?

It isn't safe to buy 1BTC today as an investment just like any other investments. Bitcoin is not garunteed to rise and it can just crash in the future. Hence, you should only invest whichever you can afford to lose.

How safe is it?

it really depends on how long you would hold it for. I would say that its extremely safe to buy bitcoin today and profit greatly in the far far future (im talking 10's of years). If you plan to invest with bitcoin for a couple of months it wont be that great of an investment, you might actually lose money.

For those who didn't manage to buy just below or just over $300, this is the right time to do it. The block halving will make you a good return if you have patience enough to hold till Juli 2016. If you chase short term profits, then just stick to day trading if you know how to play the market right.

We are still in the 300s. And of course no one here knows what will happen tomorrow, the day after or whenever.

I don't expect that price will go under $300, but for me the worst scenario is $250. Anyway ~$300 is good price to buy and hold.. I expect that in 2-3 month we will hit $500..

if i were to buy bitcoin, i would buy at around 250. the current price is around 300 and im thinking its going to drop a bit this week. 

but by the end of the year, im guessing prices will be up in the high 400, so im definitely going to buy a bit this week.

everyday,i alwasy think that its a good time to buy 1 or more bitcoin for long term investement,lets see about price movement,its up to you to decide it,but you also have to looking for any price predictions,if you hope that bitcoin price will keep stable or going up for a several next years,you should buy it,and of course it depending your predictions and market information. and for me,i hope someday will buy 1 or more bitcoin for long term invest,because i believe that bitcoin have a good future

I think the bottom is 300$, or around that. So i think if people buy at these levels its less likely that they will lose.

I don't think it would be worth it, that's the sort of thing that made sense back when you could buy Bitcoin for a few cents/dollars. I don't see Bitcoin spiking to thousands of dollars anytime soon. However, say if you find $310 by the side of the road one morning, then sure, go ahead and dump it into BTC, you never know.

well its a question of risk of investment but if you willing to sell like nov next year yuo can do 200$ profit max i supose

I don't think it would be worth it, that's the sort of thing that made sense back when you could buy Bitcoin for a few cents/dollars. I don't see Bitcoin spiking to thousands of dollars anytime soon. However, say if you find $310 by the side of the road one morning, then sure, go ahead and dump it into BTC, you never know.

You never know, maybe that $310 can be $320. 

At least this is the most realistic thing to say, if you find another guy say: buy bitcoin now, maybe you can turn your $310 to $310,000.!! just don't reply them and keep walking.

Nobody says to put all money in Bitcoin. It is just advice to buy 1 BTC. If that are all your money, you better get to work.. or to study

I think it's very good, because I believe bitcoin prices will back to touch $350, so I think it is quite safe to buy at this time

If u ask me it`s safe to invest in bitcoin and I belive price will go up in future. But u need to do your own homework. 300 $ it`s not much so why not to try it, I will suggest u to try to make 2 from that one and then one put in cold storage and u have one more to make more. Risk is always present, but if u dont risk u can not gain.

your goal is hold bitcoin at 10 years ? so if bitcoin price going up from $50 to $1000 ( like at end of 2014)  you will still keep it ? still hold it ?
i will choose "hold bitcoin at period price" i will sell my bitcoin if price up to $500 and buy back at $300

It's not safe, but right now there's a strong chance that bitcoin will go up. This is because of the recent drop in bitcoin's price. I've bought almost 5 bitcoin, so if you invest too, we'll be hoping for profit together

If you want to hold long term, it will be profitable. We all know that, dont we?
