Is there a way just to try IOTA without spending whole BTCs please ?

its quite easy to write this quote, no proof at all... also don't try it with screenshots, also they will be photoshoped ones.

I wouldn't put it past devs and members of iota doing such a thing.

They come off as condescending here on the forums and also on iota's slack.

Seems like they missed the communications class in university.

The guy put up a legitimate question, guess it doesn't get answered if you're not a "programming genius".

Not great at communication will get you no where in the business world, even if you have the best and most unique code. Simple business 101 etiquette.

Sad to see such a great idea mismanaged because of people's hyper inflated ego. Anyways, enough with my rant.

You sound delusional. Condescending? no. Blunt? yes.

And show me one example of mismanagement, or do you just want to talk nonsense for attention?

We *only* delete msgs that troll/scam. If this guy is telling the truth then his msg got deleted because he quoted another guy who was trolling/scamming.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Usually, in other slacks and forums, people complains that devs are absent....
fact is, people complain a lot, for the most stupid reasons, like spoiled babies. it's a complaint overdose on the crypto community. for that reason, any complaint (even the relevant ones) will become "one more complaint from the spoiled brats", justifying the "lack of patience" and apparent lack of "communications class in university": that's because the developers have got important tasks to accomplish, and "filtering" the few relevant complaints from all those complaints from the spoiled childs is not the most important of the tasks. (not only here in iota)
easy to understand that... instead of complaining, do something or go away.

Good point. Good analogy is a busy restaurant,  imagine if the chef or manager had to communicate with the patrons over every detail of their food etc , it would be a disaster, that's why it's best to shield busy people doing important tasks from day-to-day concerns. BUT, if a guy in a restaurant gets a well done steak and he ordered medium, or the food takes hours to arrive they're entitled to complain, but to a waiter, not the chef. Iota needs a dedicated community manager, so David and Dominik can concentrate on other stuff. A dedicated community manager is paid to answer the same question 100 times politely, and keep information flowing smoothly between dev team and community. Honestly, the core team should eventually not follow forums, except for entertainment if they genuinely enjoy trolling. I think for long term benefit of iota, we need paid community concierge and matre d

Dom has provided this update on the slack:

Quote
A quick status update for everyone (a longer update will follow later today):

- We are currently in the final stages for 1.0.8. There were some major changes made (especially to the signing schema), so it took longer than expected.
- @gianluigi is working on the Curl optimization integration into IRI
- We will launch a "testnet" later today so that we can test certain functionality and make sure it's ready for release. This includes a stresstest which will happen this weekend (100tps one).
- Nostalgia is done and we'll be testing it more thoroughly later. This should be a Minimum Viable UI for the community.
- I will work on integrating the new major changes made to the actual GUI during the weekend. But don't take my word for it, as it may take a bit longer (I'm back in Italy this weekend, so not 100% available. I'll try my best).
- *The ETA for the live network to be back online is early next week*

I am a manual claim holder. I generated a seed and addresses, and sent David the addresses. I checked the published snapshot and the addresses I sent David have correct balances. Question: do I need to check my seed usìng,

https://service.iotatoken.com/upgrade?seed=XXX&address=999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

If my addresses show correct balances, can I avoid risk of sending seed over the internet? Can I check my seed on my local PC? I feel very nervous sending seed over internet, is it encrypted using this service, or visible as plain text?

No.
Yes. Yes, if you run Jetty and JRE locally then I can send you that script that checks balances. The service doesn't store the seed.

Hi there... so where can I buy iota? I'm guessing here in this thread as it is still in beta phase of development. Can anyone tell me if and when Iotas will be available for purchase on exchanges. Very nice project by the way. The first time I've seen anyone experimenting in the quantum computer arena which is undoubtedly the future of computing... nice work devs.

thank you

Check your manual claim addresses in the proposed snapshot.
https://github.com/domschiener/snapshot/blob/master/snapshot.csv

The network is paused at the moment, so manual claims are not completed as such, but you can check your addresses in the snapshot.

greetz nrg

I'm only quoting this to stave off future comments.  Iota will not be on exchanges, necessarily, on Oct-22.  No one knows when it will be listed but as the dev team has continually stated, don't expect it before then.

Also, hello everyone!  Life's been busy so I've not been around much.  I do continually check in on the status of this project and I'm still in full support.  I've just gone into silent-ninja-stealth mode... mostly.

A Personal Quote on BTT from 2011:
"I'd be willing to make a moderate "investment" if the value of the BTC went below $2.00.  Otherwise I'll just have to live with my 5 BTC and be happy. :/"  ...sigh.  If only I knew.

If it goes to exchanges soon, I see 5 qualities making iota very very attractive for markets, and even dangerous for most altcoins :
- No blockchain
- No fees
- No scability problems
- Quantum resistant
- Multi billion and growing market (IoT)

Am i right ?

Do you need full tangle downloaded to local PC for this to work? If yes, is there a download link?
