funny question:
why not earning money on your work? could swear, you was open and public to all with ur ideas and plans. Even an ICO is finished. So, why blaming him for his big profits? Its not your strategic work, to sort out the right price for investors. Its a deal between supply and demand. Its in the end not a problem, if all do their work. You prove us for sure a BIG DEAL, and I know, you are hard working. I respect really your work. Very dilligent.
But even the biggest gambler is a piece of the whole system. If the incoming IOTA ecosystem couldnt be big enough to handle that, so it would be damn hard to survive on the "sharkybay"!
Just my 2 cents. Dont waste the time for finding the right price on markets!

funny question: the last thing I heard, the community was asket to hype this project... but still, speculators are told to fuck off... Never asked anyone to hype the project, asked people to build projects that hype the project. We don't want any unsubstantiated hype at all and have done everything we can to avoid it.

That is work and a outreach project. The hype would be you tell everyone you would have 500 followers before you actually have them.

Maybe he had that in mind or maybe im totally wrong Since it has already been answered why this is definitely not hype, I want to touch upon this point: It is quite astonishing to me that we have to push people to do even these minor things. The amount of time wasted in terms of micromanaging things that the community should be able to initiate and organize on their own is very staggeringly unfortunate. People should be all over these different foras like twitter and reddit with discussions about IOTA tech, to bring in new people to the community, without us having to micromanage it.

Maybe it would make sense, to get a community manager like the most of the other altcoin projects have. I know this is not "any other" altcoin project, and this it not the point. The point is there is no real link between the developers (foundation?) and the community (especially stupid ppl like me). I have a bad feeling if i ask cfb in slack about stuff, because i think im disturbing him from his general IOTA related tasks. It would be nice to know on what the team is currently working on. What are the current problems, or milestones etc. I dont even care about exchanges or hype, but i feel a bit lost. The big update in October was awesome, but if someone asks me, what has happened until today, i cat tell alot about (okay there is version 1.1 but for computer pros only). I really like this project and will stay on board no question. I can understand the devs and some ragers out of the community aswell, but maybe it would be better to make more then one big update a year. I dont wanna offend anyone, im just writing what im thinking. Hope you understand

I agree that, generally, more frequent communication could help foster a more active community.
This could be dismissed as hand-holding, but perhaps this is needed if we are not seeing the minor things being done by the community. A simple weekly/bi-weekly status blog post could take 20mins to write, but would be hugely valued and help inspire the community.
I think the fact that IOTA is so revolutionary and fundamentally different from other crypto projects has made it harder for newer community members to understand. One example is that IOTA gets easier to use with scale, so we face scalability challenges on the front-end, rather than in the distant future. The community should do a better job of explaining features like this to new arrivals.

But if the community finds 2-3 people that are really good at organizing and decide to fund them, we can definitely talk directly to these people to make the process of information sharing more streamlined. But this *has* to be a community effort. That is what I am requesting, that the community organize itself just like other functioning and progressive open source communities does. Often times it is as simple as spending an hour here and there having some engaging discussions on the different subreddits, which then lead interesting people into the IOTA ecosystem.

I think what David was trying to say is that if you are able to find out and identity that there a role or function missing in this community you probably can assume that role or function yourself becasue you already have a better perspective and vision on that than other people. You can not rely on someone else to take on the task when you are the visionary person.
The iotasupport.com is a good example. Some community members identified the need for information and they build that website to provide that information. You can always help to collect more information for the website's editors to add if you think a certain information is missing. To make this community and project better, we just need to take some ownership for our own visions and perspectives.
PS - if you indentify an issue and don't have the time you also can hire someone to do it by specifying the task you want to complete. The key is to own your visions and thoughts by yourself.

I would be interested in performing such role. I've been into crypto for more than 3 years and I've been following iota for months now, also I'm cofounder and executive member of Blockchain Education Network Italia, aswell as cofounder and marketing researcher for inbitcoin, an italian crypto startup. I've been involved in many community management projects for both altcoins and my local Bitcoin community, so acting as community manager would not be something new for me at all. I've already personally met Dominik and our hometowns are literally in the same italian region, and also it would not even be a problem for me to travel to Berlin from time to time if there is need to personally meet the dev team. I would also have no problem verifying my real identity (already use that in iota slack). As David said, to perform such role I think some kind of funding (community?) would be needed, not because of greed but because in order for it to be effective, it needs to be done professionally. Let me know what the community and the devs/foundation think!

David, just one phrase said by Dominik at October, 30th: Dominik Schiener [5:22 PM]: what the community can help with is: c) Help build up the hype and spread the word. Very important if we want to launch sooner
