Westbrook signing with the Clippers for 2 years and 8 million is nuts. He surely could’ve gotten double that and maybe triple somewhere else. I think he took his stint with the Lakers personally and now he just wants to help the Clippers be the top dog in Los Angeles. With this deal the Clippers should be able to go after another big free agent.

Kind of in the same mindset but what good does he serve on a team like the Pacers that would pay him more.  At this point it has to be about winning right?  Foe the clips it's a steal because at anytime russ Alcan be russ and well worth way more than a $4mil a year type player.  But on the other hand at that age I'm sure he seen how teams dealt with players like Melo, you can get black balled out of the league so if he just wants to play it's a good deal for him too since he doesn't have to worry about that now.

I just read the news that Damian Lillard has officially requested a trade from the Portland Trailblazers. Poor Dame… He should have done this two years ago and then he could’ve helped LeBron win another ring. Now it looks like he’s going to go to Miami and I personally don’t think Miami is as good as they appeared last post season.

Yeah, he seems to be targeting Miami, not sure why, but perhaps Dame has ties with Jimmy or because of the strength that they show last season going to the finals, Dame might think that they can repeat it again. And it's interesting that he want's to be in the East this time.

Good for Austin Reaves to resign with the Lakers, I thought that the White Mamba might go out and look for better pays. But at least he remains loyal with Lebron and the organization.

Also the Lakers got Cam Reddish, I think Cam is really good, although he might have some bad decisions like requesting a trade from Atlanta and his career started a downfall. Hopefully he can recover with the Lakers and revived his career.

Biggest bag yet in free agency looks like it’s going to go to LaMelo Ball. The youngest of the Ball brothers is said to be on the verge of signing a five year deal worth more than a quarter of a billion dollars. That young man is about to be one wealthy kid. If he can actually live up to this contract I can see him becoming a billionaire by the age of 30.

That was insane! I thought he valued himself more than that. I think he just badly wants to win a championship, so he helped a team build with more superstars to make it happen. Most of the time, money is the issue, but I'm really surprised by this news that he accepted such a small offer, despite knowing that he was a triple-double machine before and still has a lot to offer to a team. Anyway, good luck to the Clippers. I hope injuries do not ruin their chances again.

Wow, that's crazy.
Followed the ball brothers story since highscholl. It was always very entertaining, Liangelo arrested in China, hime and Melo playing in Lithuania, the the self made JBL by their father and Melo's trip to Australia.

And now he will be super rich (as he kind of was before). Good for him. He can support Liangelo since he doesn't get anything going.  Grin

The Lakers resigned Austin Reaves now, 4 years for around 56 million. I am a bit surprised he didn't get more. Even Russell got like 37 for 2 years , and Reaves is much better than him already.

^ That’s a big blow to the Nuggets.
Yeah, surprising news as many would have thought that this team will be stronger than before and bonds would be made. After all, this is NBA and it's all about business and taking the best offers that they can take after getting out of their primes.
It's not actually different from what the Golden State Warriors did. After their championship, they increased the salary of some of their players and then traded them. Some are let go with a better contract for other teams.
I think what happened is just normal in the NBA now. Loyalty is not a thing anymore, where there is money, go get it, get yourself a house and some savings for your retirement fund. I think Bruce Brown will be there.
The same with the Lakers and that's why I just thought that this team will remain just as is with their winning roster. But this is all about their value has gotten up just after getting the ring so it's a wise move for him when there's a bigger offer since they're not always at their height of their career so it's nice that he took advantage of it.

Definitely a smart move by Bruce Brown because he knows that he now deserves a much higher contract after the Nuggets won the championship recently and it's not that he was just riding the team easily because he also had his own highlights. Also, it was a nice move for the Indiana Pacers for acquiring him because his presence and skill on the court is certainly a plus.

I agree, even he shines up during his stay with the Denver but his exposures is not that much.

Aside from the money for sure, he will play a lot of minutes now after Indiana signs him up. He's a good addition in terms
of a two-way type of player, he can go for the offense but also a good one for the defense.

He just uses this opportunity to give him a better luxury. Changing another uniform is just a part of the business
we never know what he can add for Indiana's next season rally.

Reaves might be looking to stay long with the Lakers and that's why he is willing to have a pay cut. I'm surprised with the D'Lo staying with Lakers, I thought that he is going to exit and look for more money outside.

And the Lakers got Jaxon Hayes as well to beef up the middle and center position. Now they have a freak and athletic guy to help Anthony Davis.

But yeah, that LaMelo Ball contract is going to be crazy if this is official, but I guess their father is right though, don't let women destroy them and their careers.

Wow, just saw the news that Damian Lillard has requested a trade out of Portland. I mean can you blame the guy? He’s been one of the best players in the league since he entered and has been one of the best shooters I’ve ever seen, dude is just a killer.

I can’t wait to see where he might go.

Yes, I guess it's about time for Lillard to get out of Portland as we have been discussing before, he has wasted his prime years and Portland try but failed to build a good roster around it.

Fee VanVleet signing with Houston was an interesting one. Wanted him in Chicago badly.

Bulls will be over the luxury tax if they chooses to chase FVV. One of the big winners here is Fred himself, first undrafted to have a $100+ million contract. Just amazing and huge money on his way. So let's see if he can live up to the hype that Houston is expecting him with that huge contract. I thought that they are going to get James Harden again.

Oh wow!
Report: LaMelo Ball, Hornets finalizing 5-year contract extension
Guard LaMelo Ball is set to receive a reported five-year, $260 million extension from the Hornets.

https://www.nba.com/news/lamelo-ball-contract-extension-2023
Damn. that's huge. But I think he is worth the price.
We've seen the Charlotte Hornets suddenly grow stronger because of him. All he needs is more good players surrounding him and soon they will be in the playoffs every year. May not be a championship caliber yet but it is sure is a young team that will go there in the future.
I don't know why Michael Jordan is going to sell his share but he might miss this chance that the Hornets will be filled with fans and more profits coming for him.
They now have one rookie that will definitely be a good duo for Ball, all they need is experience.

Also, one more piece of news came out and I thought they are just discussing the matter about the roster.
Damian Lillard requests trade after 11 seasons with Blazers
Damian Lillard is calling his shot. Portland's all-time leading scorer is ready to leave the only team he's ever played for.

Dame leaving Portland will be a sad thing to see, an era ending basically, he did his best there but the team never really put any decent pieces together for him to be successful, they never had even another superstar level player which is usually needed to win a title since most teams that won in the last 10 years or so have been teams with at least 2 great players, maybe more.

In the end, we are going to definitely see him leave to a team that will be fighting for a title chance, I am not saying he will leave to a team that will win the ring, but we are not going to see him go to a tanking team anymore, he is already old and if he wanted a bad team then he could have stayed with Portland. I still 100% suggest Celtics, that's an amazing fit without a doubt.

I'm sure it was a very good decision for Dame. That team did not have a chance to become a champion, you cannot make a team champion alone. It's sad to be on that team for a basketball player who can achieve great things with a good team. If he can come together with a few good players, we can see that he will be much more successful this season Smiley

I'm very glad that Dame finally is demanding a trade. After years of Dame's loyalty and embracing the city and the team, it is time for him to join a team that has real potential. Lately, Portland Trailblazers do not deserve Dame. Dame used to be called the best PG some years ago but unluckily for him, his prime years were not matched by the management with players that can help him and the team become a serious championship contender.

I'll be surprised if Dame will join Boston but indeed it will be a good fit since Tatum and Brown are also team players. Anyways, any team will surely try to acquire Dame and are willing to adjust and accommodate him.

There's a rumor that he might join the Miami Heat, so I would like to believe it will happen, as the Heat really need a talented point guard who can carry the team. Butler is consistently contributing, but having a player like Dame in the lineup would boost the team's confidence to win.

There's also a rumor about a potential three-team blockbuster trade, and the Heat are reportedly willing to give up Herro and possibly some other players as well.

For now its just a rumor and anything could change if Portland management will talk to Dame and give all he want. For sure they do all just not to let Dame go to other team.

Also what a waste of talent for letting Vincent out of Miami rooster this guys give huge contribution to their team last playoff series and they didn't even bother to give a good counter offer and let that guy go. Lakers is now is so strong for getting him and other good piece.

Lillard said in a recent interview that he didn't want to leave Portland, but if he did Miami is where he would want to go. Since he is a player with a no trade clause, he makes all the decisions and Miami will most likely be the destination. Bam, Lillard, and Butler will be a decent starting 3.

LaMelo Ball and Tyrese Haliburton both getting five-year max contracts sounds crazy. I think it's a huge gamble for their teams but I hope it pays off for the Hornets and the Pacers hehe. The team's respective head coaches have a big task of keeping these players motivated and disciplined.

Their efforts have paid off, as they secured a max contract due to their young age, which indicates that they are expected to contribute more to the team. While they may not currently play for a championship team, we cannot definitively predict their future, as any team has the potential to develop, just like the Nuggets did when they made history last season in both the regular and postseason.

Lillard said in a recent interview that he didn't want to leave Portland, but if he did Miami is where he would want to go. Since he is a player with a no trade clause, he makes all the decisions and Miami will most likely be the destination. Bam, Lillard, and Butler will be a decent starting 3.
The only player that has a no-trade clause in his contract is Bradley Beal that's why he has the power to pick where he wants to go, and he chose the Suns. The person who gave Beal's power to chose where to be traded got fired after giving it. Cheesy Lillard don't have a no-trade clause base on this article. LINK

Don't have or have, I think the Heat will do everything they can just to get Lillard, and they've started it by letting go of Strus, and Vincent. Many are saying that the Heat can give Herro, Lowry, Martin, Robinson, and future picks. Probably not all of them, but most of the players that I shared will be added in the trade. Anyway, I think the Blazers will rebuild around their young players + Grant who just recently got a huge contract.

On the other hand, Dame being in Miami might turn them to be the favorites in the East. I mean just imagine having Butler, Bam, and Dame on the same team plus you've got a well-respected, talented, and a very good coach in Coach Spo. They might not have those undrafted players anymore who has a huge impact towards their achievements last playoffs, but I believe that he can do something to develop their role players.

Doesn't sound crazy to me. These two guys are young, very promising, and talented. Look at their recent last season stats. I think both of these guys had the highest PPG last season on their teams.

Looks like the Lakers are on a resigning spree as they have just announced that Austin Reeves has been signed to a 4-year deal for over 50 million dollars. If that’s correct, then I think the Lakers did a pretty good job of keeping the guys they should keep and at low enough contract rates for them to possibly be able to make some moves next year.

Happy for Reaves. It looks like this is the first big contract of his career, and I think he will be able to get a bigger contract in the future because he obviously has great potential.
Overall it's good that the Lakers' management has decided to re-sign some guys as well as sign some new guys. Although I think the Lakers need to find a couple more big guys who can at least partially replace Davis if he gets injured again.
