You know, some teams excel in the preseason but face significant challenges when the regular season begins.

That's a common occurrence because what we witness in the preseason doesn't always mirror what happens in the regular season. During the regular season, star players are anticipated to log their typical minutes, but in the preseason, they may opt to sit out or play with restricted minutes. Personally, I view the preseason as more akin to exhibition games; the true competition commences in the regular season.

Exactly, coaches give some minutes to star players to show up for the sake of the fans but it isn't the actual minutes that they've got each time
they play in the regular season.

More on preserving them and preventing the chances of unnecessary injuries, I think also that pre-season is more on exhibition type of game.

We will see teams to excel during the actual season or more to expect when playoff starts knowing that the real rush will be on that
stage of the league.

I understand that they want to protect their players from getting injured, but it's a real treat for the fans to see a superstar playing in the preseason. Well, I think we can already consider Wemby as a superstar, as he's likely to be one of the starters for the Spurs. We haven't seen a player like him, especially one with his height, generate this much hype before. He has a wide range of moves, and that's probably why we love watching him in action. However, you guys are right; we need to see what he can do during the regular season, and hopefully, he won't disappoint us.

The positive thing about this kid is that he's playing under Coach Spo, who is a great mentor. So, for sure, he'll continue to improve.

We will see, I think the Nuggets, the Bucks and the Lakers have a good chance to win the title.

The Lakers can only hope for any success if LeBron performs as well as he has in the past and Davis stays healthy during the regular season and playoffs. By the way, some news sites say that this season will probably be LeBron's last chance to win a fifth title in his career because a lot of players on the current Lakers roster will become free agents next offseason.

Bron accuracy is in the perimeter shot is not that good anymore as well as his dominance in the paint. I believe his age is already slowing him down so his teammates need to step up big time if they want to win championship. He is not the Bron before that can carry the team single handedly.

I think they have the best shot last year to win the title if only Anthony Davis become more active on getting the ball to dominate the paint since he is very effective when he is active contributing. His on and off game makes Lakers short against Nuggets while they already beat GSW which is very tough opponent too that time.

I would disagree though, if ever they will have a good shot, it could be this year as they revamp the team and now they have a good shooter from outside in Prince. Of course it will rest on the shoulder of Lebron, but we haven't seen him slowing down, and so I doubt that he will suddenly gets old this season and no longer in his prime.

Anthony Davis looks good in their pre-season game against the Warriors. Although we can't just judge him by a game and it's only pre-season. But it seems that the Lakers is so confident with their current lineup that they might exceed our expectations for them this season.

Yes probably,  but they could always get good pieces to play along with LeBron and AD, in fact winning a championship ain't gonna be easy these days for LeBron. His era was done after that 10 consecutive finals appearances.
LeBron's ability to carry a team isn't the same before anymore.
AD should step up if they want to win a championship.
The Lakers current roster are actually pretty good compared last year. They are pretty balance this season, so I will be expecting a better outcome from them this season.

Right now, we've got the Miami Heat facing off against the SAS, and it's been an exciting game to watch. Both teams are deadlocked at 72 points each.

What's really catching my eye here is Wemby - this guy is something special. He's already dropped 21 points, and there's still over 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. I get it, it's just preseason, but from what he's showing, it's crystal clear he's going to be a major asset for the Spurs. And mark my words, as long as he keeps healthy, he's going to give the Spurs a run for their money this season.

San Antonio Spurs won, 120-104. As usual, Wemby put on a display and this is one of his highlights.

https://twitter.com/spurs/status/1712997786185031762

He put up 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. And so the fans alike are hype, there were fans even comparing him to Giannis and calling him SuperGiannis. So let's see, we haven't seen this kind of media attention to a rookie since Lebron James.

But the good thing is that he lives to the hype and most likely, a runaway for ROY although there is tough competition as well.

Days are going by and still no end in sight for the James Harden trade request saga.

Honestly, I don't know what's taking so long here. I thought the Clippers want him, why is there no progress?
The season is starting in 2 weeks, don't you want your team together before it starts?

Maybe they will pull out of a possible deal because they see what everybody else does? Harden is not the guy you want on your team. No D, no loyalty, no winning mentality and a locker room problem.

Philly, send him to China, the Sharks are waiting and he obviously loves it there.  Grin

SAS played really well in the last quarter of the game. Even till the third quarter the game was really close. It looked like any team could actually be able to get the win. But in the end the San Antonio Spurs were able to win. Wembanyama had a really good performance for the San Antonio Spurs. Devin Vassel was also good. But I think a lot of people are really interested to see how Wembanyama is going to perform in the upcoming few years. he is only 19 years old. And he is already showing really good performance. Of course people are going to be hyped about him.

There are various rumors popping up about it again. As far as I know, the Clippers would like to get Harden, considering they offered the 76ers even more than anyone else. But the problem is that the 76ers want more while the Clippers are not ready to raise their current offer.
Honestly, the drama over the Harden trade has dragged on, and now it's not really interesting to follow it anymore.

I know it's only preseason but I will be the first to admit I might be wrong about wemby.  Dude is a monster.  I thought he might not he strong enough to hang inside in the NBA and think I'm wrong after watching a couple of preseason games.  Now I know the regular season is very different he looks like he has the goods to hold up.  Hope the kid stays injury free to see how good he can get.  That's the worry with these big guys

I was very sceptical about Wemby make it in the NBA but he has already proven me wrong. He is much better than I expected and if he is not going to get injured, he will probably be amazing. I really though he was over-hyped but he obviously isn't. His mid-range shot is seriously good. He dunks the ball from distance with super ease. His mental state also seems good. In this forum topic or anywhere else, he was talked about so much but it was rightly so, I guess. Kudos to his family, former teams and his personality. I really wasn't expecting him being this good in NBA environment. But he seems quite ready already.

I do agree with that, people who talk about his age do not really talk about the real problem which is his defense, he is not defending as well as he used to and I can understand that, back when they won the title during the bubble season, Lebron played amazing defense and the whole team did, that made them win it, looking at Lakers roster right now, there are few defenders but the team as a whole do not look like a good defending team and that could be an issue.

They need to score a lot and outscore the opponent, and that has never worked in anyone's favor, you could do that but you need size and speed to defend very well to make sure things go well for you. With players like Reaves which is open buckets for the other team, focusing just scoring and offensive talents of a player doesn't end up that good.

Or maybe we are haters? Anyhow, yeah, the kid is proving his detractors so far, and living the hype as the top pick for this year. He can definitely shoot from the outside like KD and then penetrate the ring or go one on one on a fast break like Giannis. And with his long span, he can easily dunk the ball as he pleases.

So definitely the future is looking bright for Wemby and he pray that he will remain injury free so that we can witnessed another great player as there are a lot of speculations on him winning future MVP awards already.

Look at Giannis when he entered the NBA compared to now. If Wemby can bulk up a bit over the next year or 2, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with. He's already being compared to the likes of KD and as we all know KD is pretty good.

Kid is killing it in the preseason, can't wait to see how his 1st year goes.

We can't deny that he really is a monster; with his length and athleticism, he can always dominate his matchups. But let's wait and see; it's still too early to draw conclusions. Teams will surely have some strategies to minimize his production, especially in the playoffs. Durant is just a special breed due to his high basketball IQ, and he's also a reliable shooter inside and outside. As for Wemby, I don't know about him yet. Like I said, it's still too early since we're still in the preseason.

I guess we already see the glimpse of how good really Wemby is. Now, there's a lot of comparison between him and Giannis as far as power goes, and then his sweet shooting compare to the likes of KD.

We will see if he can transform his body like Giannis, or just wanted to keep himself as slim as KD so that he can still have that shooting and at the same time the speed. But he will gain more power if he put up body mass and he could be more explosive and scary and hard to stop once he is on the post or just running in the open and then dunk and put everyone on the poster.

I wish so too. Injuries suck. It can ruin anyone in their early career, I mean look at Zion having trouble getting the trust back from his own fanbase in New Orleans or outside. Then there's Greg Oden, a big waste of a big man because of injuries too. 7 knee injuries, the biggest bust of all time as they call it.
Wemby is so tall, that one bad injury in the lower part of his body could mean his career getting done. I do wish he could take care of himself like other tall guys did. I bet Timmy will help him with that, I hope. So that the Spurs can get back on track and win championships again.
There's a lot of hype about Wemby and I think he is living up to all that hype about him, for now. Let's just hope that he will remain being healthy while still being aggressive on the basketball floor.

Yeah, it's really bad with a basketball player didn't reach his full potential because of nagging injuries, like Zion in the last 2-3 years wherein he will start the season very healthy and suddenly goes out. Or even Lonzo Ball, we really don't know if he can comeback as himself, although there are players like Klay and KD who make a great comeback after torn meniscus.

So let's just hope that Wemby, with his trainer and strength coach can do wonders with him and prevent him from experiencing a injuries. So it's important as well that his support system is there for him as they have a huge investment on this kid and hope that one day it could reward them by winning championship again for the franchise.

Wemby is currently an asset for the Spurs, but they had a rough last season, so they're eager to come back strong. Injuries are unfortunately a part of the game, and you need some luck to avoid them. Wemby is a big guy, and it seems like big men, when they get injured, tend to have a tougher time coming back quickly. Sometimes, they even need an entire season to heal, just like Davis, or Chet, who missed the entire season when he got injured during a preseason game, if I recall correctly.

Let's cross our fingers that Wemby stays injury-free because injuries can really dampen the excitement and fan expectations. Even though the NBA remains entertaining, it's a different kind of entertainment when all the teams with superstars are healthy and competing throughout the season.

Yes, who will also forget recently, the number 2 draft pick from last season, Chet Holmgren who had a freak accident in last year's pre-season game? We thought that it was just a common injury but it turns out that he had missed the entire season playing at the pre-season.

And so hopefully Wemby will not be the victim of pre-season injury and hold his number 1 draft pick throughout the season and then win the rookie of the year award. Initially we've seen that he had a big impact already to the Spurs. But the real test will be if ever they will make it to the playoffs with him as a rookie leading the Spurs.

Injuries can cause problems for any player in any sport. If a player can stay out of injury, he can actually achieve a lot of things and even a lot of impossible things that he might not have if he got injured. I also really hope that he will be able to stay away from injuries. There have been a lot of players who could have performed far better compared to what they ended up doing just because of injuries. I know I might be a little biased because he is showing good performance right now, but I still think that he will be able to perform really well and achieve great things he can stay away from injuries and continue performing like this.

Some already saying that Wembanyama is already an upgraded version of Durant because of how good he can handle the ball, and his skills knowing that he's a 7-footer big.

TBH, I underestimated him at first when he's still a skinny guy, but as soon as he got drafted, he built muscle, gained some weight, and now he's can bully ball any defender inside the paint - just like Giannis is doing. We are already seeing the league being dominated by centers. In the last 2-3 years, look on who's the top candidates for MVP. Embiid got it last year, Jokic got it for 2 consecutive years, and now we are seeing centers like Wemby, and let's add Chet in the conversation as well because IMO, he's the rookie that can match up Wemby, and we've seen a glimpse of it already when they faced each other in pre-season.

Nevertheless, I believe that this year, big players will dominate just like what's happening for the last few years.
