^^ I think some of us might have seen that the era of Young is over with the Hawks as the image of the franchise has shift already with trading most of their players from the era wherein they were a big contender in the East and only Trae Young was left out of that group.

In any case, a new chapter of him with the Wizards. I think he will be a perfect fit for them as they are looking for a good leader and Young could provide that to the Wizard franchise.

We’ll see how this season goes. After that, he has a player option for the 2026–27 season, so he can either stay or opt out.
I don’t think teams will have an issue signing him because the skills are clearly there.

The real concern is his health. If he gets injured again, hopefully not, that’s when his future becomes shaky. Extensions won’t be guaranteed, he could end up as a free agent, and his value would definitely decline.

Trae Young is a beast once he was given an opportunity. Recently, Hawks already shifting their focus away to Trae probably due to lack of result for many years.

What I don’t understand about Hawks is the way they restructure their roster even on Trae hot scoring era. Trae doesn’t have a solid reliable teammates that’s why it’s easy to check him out when playoffs.

The Hawks already experimented enough around Trae Young. Trades happened, players came and went, and he stayed, but it still didn’t really work. Everything has an end. Add the fact that Trae is injury-prone and it starts to look more like a liability than a franchise piece. At this point, trading him feels like the best decision, even if it’s unfortunate. Landing on a weak team doesn’t help either, and honestly, I don’t see his career heading in a good direction with this move.

Well, for Young himself, this trade could indeed be beneficial in terms of improving his individual stats. However, it's worth noting that the Wizards are at the bottom of the standings and clearly have no chance of making the playoffs this regular season. At the very least, I doubt that Young will be able to improve their situation in any way, and it's still unclear when he will return to the court after his injury.

I guess that's fair officiating, because early on, it looks like the NBA is favoring OKC specially SGA as when someone touches him, it's automatic foul and so with that, a great defender will not know how to properly put up a body on SGA.

But now, it seems that the NBA commissioner has noticed it and so they ask the referee to be fair in calling fouls on OKC. And with that, SGA can't get his usual free throws because as you can see he intentionally bump his defender. Now if he does that, not only did the referee not calling fouls, but he misses a lot of shots now.

They are trying to make SGA the next NBA star but the way they are doing it is making the NBA look bad so they might be thinking of other ways, because the majority of people are now starting to see it, and the officiating is making it too obvious that is why they might be calling it looking like fair, but if they are going to make it on the finals again, which is a high chance , it will be the same, officiating, but it would also impact the NBA too much, since people don't like that kind of fouls.

There has been one thing in NBA that I did not see in any other sports. I think NFL could be similar, so maybe an American thing, but in football and f1 which are the other sports I enjoy, there isn't this thing and NBA is the only one I saw it happen. Which is, one player getting favourable calls and more media attention than anyone else to make sure that NBA could promote him as the next big thing.

We do not see this in other sports. Because they actually have to deliver results, otherwise it doesn't work, and with OKC winning the title, they assumed they can do that for SGA, but results show, stats and eye tests too, that other better players do exist, yet NBA and all media acts as if he is miles better than everyone. Hell Jokic is still better than SGA.

Yeah this is good for him since he will face lots of emotional backlash if he decide to stay on Hawks. Since its clear that the management don't want him to stay and there's lots of discouragement happened and this is the sign that they are not good.

Now that he's in Wizards I guess what he need to do is to prove his worth and help Wizards to win. Although its hard in their current situation now, but he can be a difference maker since we can't deny that Young still a legit star.

Although everything is just speculation so let see how he bounce back after this trade happens.

Well, at least it's over now. Maybe Young wants to score like 50 points per game (who else is gonna score for the Wizards?) and get his trade value/reputation up. I mean why else does he want to play for one of the worst franchises in the past decades? Maybe he also seems himself as the savior for that team, someone who would give them an actual future, who knows. Anyway, not a fan of him or both teams, so I couldn't care less. Just happy I don't have to see the news any longer, haha.

I don't think that scoring 50 PPG would increase his value nor reputation. While we know that scoring that high is impossible, no team wants a player that's a liability on defense. Yes, he's a big liability on defense because of how small he is. On offense, there's no doubt he's one of the best, and he's a good playmaker as well, but that doesn't matter if you can't defend even the smallest PGs out there.

TBH, I don't know the main reason as well as to why Wizards is his preferred destination, but maybe there's a person on the management that's very close to him, and that might be the reason. Another reason is that, because he's that skinny, no other teams wants him especially with a salary that high ($46M this season, and $49M next season) while being a liability on defense. I'm not also a fan of him as well, but let's see how he will impact the young and a bottom-tier team like Washington.

As for the Hawks though, they got basically nothing in return. McCollum's contract is expiring this season, and Kispert? He's basically just a filler. The Hawks are planning to get Davis, and with this trade, that gives them more cap space hence, they can just sign an all-star besides Jalen Johnson.

As expected. It would cause more damage to Atlanta Hawks if they let Trae Young stay. Hawks have actually been playing well without Trae Young, and that is fact. lol
It is good that another team was still willing to take Trae. If you watched Trae recent games, especially crucial games his performance was really bad, with too many turnovers.
I hope that after this trade, we will see much improvement from Atlanta with CJ McCollum. I do not expect Wizards to improve by getting Trae Young. Wizards have been bad franchise for long time, so I do not think acquiring Trae Young will suddenly make them strong or playoff team.

It really came as a surprise. I don't think this is a great trade for Hawks honestly. Because none of the players they got in this trade looks interesting to me. It just seems like a trade only aiming to get rid of Trae Young.

But yeah sending him away will be good for Hawks at least. He wasn't any good use to the team anymore unfortunately. Otherwise you wouldn't give up on your franchise player this easy.

Trae can still deliver if Wizard will maximize the potential and give him the support that he needs, they might be able to increase their chances to be more competitive, but same with what both of you said, if they'll not do anything and just waste his skills and talents he may ended up asking for trade or to just play and go with the flow.

We will see if what will happen to this trade after Trae start practicing and blending his game to his new squad, we can only speculate but the concluding part still on how they'll blend the chemistry of their game together.

Maybe he will let it slide for this season as the Wizards is at the bottom and let this season be over for him. But I think they will be looking for next year as the Wizards might be interested on rebuilding and getting another player to compliment Trae.

Fun fact: Trae Young and Luka Doncic were traded by the respective teams that drafted them. They are supposed to be the face of the franchise that drafted them, but looks like they've crossed similar paths. Feels like a betrayal, but it is what it is when a team is in desperate need of change to become a better contender.
Who wins the trade? I don't know really. CJ and Trae are both excellent guards, it will all depend on how well they blend and complement their new teammates. Trae Young could be a better fit for the Wizards and CJ could also become a good fit for the Hawks, nobody knows.
In addition, the Atlanta Hawks are reportedly actively chasing to trade for Anthony Davis. I don't think that's a good idea, because that means they gonna have to give up important pieces to an injury-prone superstar.

Well, the Young-Davis duo sounds pretty good, at least on paper, and if you don't take into account their injury proneness. These guys would be able to lift the Wizards from the bottom of the standings, but I doubt Davis will be traded to the Wizards, as they have nothing to offer in return.

They will use the slot of Kriztap for AD, but I dont see the value of that, Why would you pursue AD  trade to hawks if AD is fragile just like Kristap?
I understand of letting go Trae and have the young bloods as they got awesome guards now. But getting AD for the C its not good .  They can look for a younger one with a healthy card.
They are building for the future why not get players of the future.

When you've got -1.5 for Charlotte Hornets but in the last minute LaMelo Ball tried the most foolish play you could do and that's to alley-oop it with Diabate after his rebound and run to end of the floor, he could have wait for his other teammates or definitely not that play. They're not trailing and the best you could do was to maximize that shot clock. Damn fool and now they're on two losing streak. If Hornets need to build e future I guess they need to keep Kalkbrenner and Knueppel, these two are the future or Brandon Miller.

I don't know which players will the Hawks will be trading for Davis, but these 3 players are something that might be included in the trade package.

Onyeka Okongwu, Luke Kennard, Corey Kispert and maybe also their first overall pick Zaccharie Risacher

They might include some draft picks as well, or we might see a third team being involved on this trade. The Mavericks will benefit from Okongwu big time because of how versatile of a big he is. The question is, will the Hawks willing to include him on the package because there's a big chance that the Mavericks will try and get him so that they will still have a center on their team alongside Gafford and Lively II. I'm also curious on how the Hawks will pull it off, but let's see especially now that Davis is yet again injured with a dislocated finger based on that clip that I saw.

As for the old Wizards, don't forget that they also have Paul Pierce on the roster as well which helped them during the playoffs. I'm kind of missing them as well, but it is what it is. There will be teams that will emerge, and there will teams that will go down.
