Lakers gave us a nice new year gift last night.  Grin  I mean especially Lebron did it. Because in the game they completely destroyed Portland by 139-106, Lebron showed a superb performance with 43 points and 14 rebounds. Westbrook got a 50% field goal success but he still didn't score many points. He still managed to make a triple-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. And Lillard's poor performance played an important role in this loss also. He was able to score only 18 points. He was performing double this performance in his previous recent games.
The Trailblazers are right now one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA if not the worst and see that open dunk of Lebron in the 3rd? That is just a proof that they really is a bad defensive team.

It seems like the smaller line up of Lakers are working with them and they've done it also in 2020 Bubble where they won a championship. Lebron as the point center is working with them since they have a faster pace compare to when they got one big in their starting line up. Davis don't want to play center and he's inefficient when playing at 5 so its needed that they need to put another center which slows the pace of the team. With having a starting line up like that, the pace is faster and it is working with the Lakers very well. Maybe they can continue to have a starting line up like this in their future games.

A good start of the year for Lebron as he dominated the whole Blazers team.

I have to say that The Trailblazers are having a dull season in terms of defending. They seemed quite lackluster and seemed like lacked the chemistry they needed in the defense. That open dunk from Lebron was a bad positioning play from them.

And as far as I have seen, the Lakers seem like they have found their rhythm back. Davis is not a good suit for the center position in my opinion. Lebron is doing quite well enough where he is being played right now and I think the coach should hold onto this tactic.

Bosh is very old and he should probably just stay put - his legacy is already cemented anyway.
It would be very nice to see him back but I think that the risks that would have to be taken to get him back on the court would be unjustified.
Let's not kid ourselves here. Bosh is not going to be a contributor, let alone any substantial one, on any team.
He is not old yet, he is only Bosh 37 years old just like Lebron James. Age is just a number and if Bosh can contribute to the team, why not give him a chance to come back and play. Besides, if ever the heat will sign him again, he will not be the oldest player on the team, they still have Udonis Haslem who is already 41 years old.
I think it all boils down as to how Bosh have invested on his body, just like what Lebron does. He really take care of his body in his prime years and that's why Lebron is still very fast and can go for a fast break dun just like in their game against Portland. Not sure what the state of Bosh though, maybe he is still active despite the fact that he has retired years ago. Not saying that he will be a good contributor, but why not give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he can go against top player in his position?

I don't think comparing Bosh with Lebron is a good idea in terms of fitness.

Lebron is by far one of the fittest players in the league right now. And Bosh is also 37 years old. But if he feels like he can give it another shot, I think it's worth a try for him and the team as well. His experience will come in handy for them. Watching Bosh in the court again would be a pleasure for any.

Yes, and he will never claim that if he ain't active with playing basketball. If he says he can do it then he must be keeping up his shape everyday and didn't stop from playing ball. The question is if they are testing this players first or will have a tune up game just to be sure they can still handle the heat of the game.
NBA needs more players as much as possible to avoid postponing them. This will be a problem in the long run if the games to catch up will pile up.

They'll do what is necessary first, for sure they wouldn't sign a player if they think it's not fit to play so it's not a problem anymore. Once we see him already in the lineup, then that's it, but it will be a short-term contract as there's no way Bosh would be extended for a long-term contract.

This will be a problem in the long run if the games to catch up will pile up.
Then we might probably see more veterans getting a 10 day contract. Smiley

There is a nice game tonight as far as I can see. Brooklyn Nets are going to host LA Clippers in Barclays Center. Nets are having a solid season just as Chicago Bulls in the same conference for example. They have the same amount of wins and losses but Bulls are leading the conference now. And I see that KD and Harden both are able to play. Clippers are in a bad situation as Paul George is still injured. I think that Nets will be able to destroy them.

Obviously, and I don't see a chance the Clippers are winning here. The line is -12 for the Nets, which pretty much tells us that the Clippers will likely lose in this game. As for the ranking, Bulls took the number 1 spot, so the Nets have to start winning games again so they'll be back at the top where they belong.

Does seem like an easy bet to win but I can't imagine the risk/reward would be there to make it worth anyone's time to gamble on it...

The Nets should be getting Kyrie back for road games pretty soon too right?  I don't think anyone is worried about them.  KD can carry that team to the playoffs by himself.  The Lakers on the other hand are a total mess.  They really need to get it together if we're going to see the Lakers vs Nets Finals matchup that everyone wants to see.  Anything less than that would be a bit of a disappointment, even though the Warriors and Bulls are clearly deserving for how they've been playing so far.

Lakers vs Nets finals are not gonna happen anymore, the Lakers are a complete mess now, that wouldn't change in the long run. It's only between the Warriors and the Suns that will advance in the NBA Finals but I see the Warriors advancing because Draymond wants to prove that they can be in the Finals again even without KD.

Lebron is by far one of the fittest players in the league right now. And Bosh is also 37 years old. But if he feels like he can give it another shot, I think it's worth a try for him and the team as well. His experience will come in handy for them. Watching Bosh in the court again would be a pleasure for any.
It is not really about Lebron playing against a bad team or a good team, it is about him still being able to do it at the age of 37 on his 19th season. It just doesn't make sense how he does it as well. Like maybe Steph will be that good when he is that old, why? Because, he is a shooter and you can shoot very easily when you are 37, hell you can still shoot at 47 with ease as long as you practice but other parts would fall of a cliff at that age. Lebron is different, he is built like a truck and he is 6'8 at the same time, dude still runs the floor very fast and dunks over people at age 37.

Like yeah 43 points is already incredible enough but we are talking about him doing it by forcing his way inside whenever he wants to even at that age. I have to say there has been no player like Lebron at age 37 ever before, dude is by far the best at that age for sure.

Technically, the odds for Lakers vs Nets in the Finals facing each others are somehow questionable referring to the current situation now. Not just in Western Conference, but I'm not even considering Nets as the sure win for the Eastern Conference.

Although inconsistent, Lakers seems showing dominance therefore, we can assume that they are not tally doomed. Western Conference is full of tough teams. Even Lakers are showing good and let's say they are consistent, we can't still be sure what teams will face in the NBA Finals.

That's the issue of some analysts about the Lakers. They are relying too much on an aging veteran that is almost out of the prime already.

Lakers are in big trouble if they are only winning if Lebron James will put up big stats.  But on the other hand, it just proves that LBJ still can make big numbers despite being out of his prime already.

No wonder, if LBJ will maintain those numbers, he will surpass Karl Malone at 2nd All-Time scoring leaders.

It should be usual to think that the Nets will have the upper hand in that game. Clipper is handicapped where their main superstars won't able to play.

It's a blowout if the Nets will lose on that game. If you think the Clippers will be able to upset the Nets, then the floor is all ready for you to take the underdog and take advantage of that good ML odds for Clippers.

The Nets should be getting Kyrie back for road games pretty soon too right?  I don't think anyone is worried about them.

Actually, Kyrie can play but since he is full of pride, he chooses not to play. He is not just eligible to play on New York Knicks but allowed in some states. If Kyrie thinks from the beginning that it's not that he is unable to play on all games, he should be playing now against teams outside New York.

He is now back in practice and maybe we can expect him back in action a few days from now.

Yeah, the path to the final won't be easy for the Nets because teams like the Bulls, Bucks, and Heat can create big problems for them. Regarding the Lakers, I guess they will most likely be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs if they finish the regular season in 7-8th place. At least I doubt that they will be able to beat the Warriors or Suns in the first round.

Lakers are not going to the finals, period.

LeBron is having one of his best seasons so far in terms of production and yet they are still struggling to get above .500.

The Nets have a real chance of winning the East and perhaps the whole championship - they were so close to beating the Bucks last year. But it will depend on the Kyrie situation as well as how healthy KD stays.

How about Demar DeRozan with another buzzer-beater and they win against the Wizard. Man, this guy is playing like an MVP, he was just underrated with he was in another team and now, he unleashed everything he got. Man! the dude can really shoot outside with a high percentage of shots this year. Back to Back buzzer-beater in two days?

Chicago beat Washington, 120-119!

Well the Lakers can be in the face-off for the last spot in the West, just like last year when they eliminated the Warriors. So it will be very difficult for them to reach the finals so I won't bet on that outright. Warriors and Suns will be the team to beat in the West. I guess too many stars in one team is not a recipe for a championship run. The chemistry has been questioned since the beginning and up to know it is still a problem for them.

It was really a difficult shot for DeRozan to make because he was well defended in the corner.

But those pump fake really do the trick for DeRozan, I mean he could have gotten for leverage in his shot and can jump higher that's why the elevation and the trajectory of the shot. Felt sorry for the Wizards, Kuzma was really playing very well and so is Bradley Beal with his assists. But Chicago's big 3 responded as well in this game. Lost my bet in this game as Chicago wasn't able to cover the spread though.

Demar has really made a comeback.

Another really good game winner from Saddiq Bey for detroit, and Terrance Mann managed to close out a comeback win for the LA Clippers against a stacked Nets team.

The Clippers are incredibly deep and I think that if they get Kawhi back this year, they will be able to become title contenders again.

Does seem like an easy bet to win but I can't imagine the risk/reward would be there to make it worth anyone's time to gamble on it...

A lesson in risk/reward.  Anyone chasing the easy win for a couple free percentage points just lost their bet.  Safe to say nobody thought the Nets would lose this game, but sometimes gambling is about playing the odds and not picking the best team.  This is a good example of that.  Throwing down a tiny bet on the Clippers would have earned a great deal with little risk, while betting a lot of the Nets would have lost you a great deal with a ton of money risked...  Glad I wasn't tempted to chase an easy return on this one.  Some Clippers fans out there are celebrating big tonight...
