It looks like Kevin Durant stays in Brooklyn. I don't think he can give his %100 to this team as he wants Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks to leave but they are also staying. It's hard to work with people you don't get along well with. On the other hand, it's quite normal that other teams cannot get him when he has such a loaded contract. If Kyrie also stays then no rebuilding for Nets this season. They have to do their best to reach higher places in play-offs, maybe one last time.

I don't think Durant will turn out like that. He's being paid and that's out of respect if he will not give his 100% on the game because of the issue. He might also lose some of his endorsement and no team will be interested in him if he will behave like that while playing for the Nets.

In the first place, Durant will not agree to stay in Brooklyn Nets if no peace negotiation happened between him and Steve Nash/Sean Marks. At least, they solved a certain issue at both parties although time will just tell before the damage in a relationship will be completely fixed.

Yeah I don't think things will turn out like that either.  Durant could have forced his way out and it had looked like that's exactly what he was going to do but didn't.  When you're that good and dedicate that much time of your life to playing a sport, you're going to give it your all. I think the Nets should be pretty decent and he's going to go full bore.

KD staying with nets is definitely something I would love to see. I mean they already didn't had a terrible team. Kyrie can shoot, KD we know can shoot very well, Joe Harris can shoot and Seth Curry can shoot, plus Ben Simmons can drive inside and pass out.
It's actually a smooth feeling to read that news that the KD trade and rumors have come to an end. It's best for all of the teams that have been in the news that showed interest of taking him.

I guess the buzz made by the team will also give that huge benefit from having those ticket sales for the very first days and opening of the league again for the matches of Nets.

Maybe a good advertising / marketing to have more interest from the fans knowing that KD will stay.

Or, it can backfire as annoyed fans might boycott him since he created that drama. But let's give the Nets another shot, mentioning those
info above gives fans a reason to watch them out.

We can't say if they'll be able to blend together and have a smooth season, all will be witness when they start making the plays and
see if there're sparks with both defense and offense.

Yeah, probably it could be one of the most anticipated games in the opening of their franchise, with all the drama in the background, for sure they are going to be scrutinized by the basketball fans and public media so let's see.

Hopefully KD will just settle nicely and make the team what it supposed to be when he went in Brooklyn.

Now the trade shifts to Donovan Mitchell, all attention he is getting to be traded to New York.

Also there is rumor that Pat Bev will be a Laker in exchange of THT and Stanley Johnson.

It didn't because Tsai wanted more out of the trade and teams are not willing to do that for Durant or maybe they price themselves so that no buyers for him.

Maybe there is some peace negotiations with Steve Nash/Sean Marks and might bury their hatchet for the good of the organization. They still have a lot of chances to make it right though, the whole season to be exact. Currently they are still the 5th favorite as early as today to be the NBA champion behind Celtics, Warriors, Bucks and Clippers.

As usual, everyone is going to be interested to see how KD performs. Ultimately, they will be interested to see how the team performs as a whole. For me, it is good news that Kevin Durant is planning to stay. If they can play well together I think they will be able to achieve their goals. If I am not mistaken, all of these five players do not even like to play the position of center. Therefore, I think they will have to play the position of a center.

It's actually a smooth feeling to read that news that the KD trade and rumors have come to an end. It's best for all of the teams that have been in the news that showed interest of taking him.

@Dave1,
Kevin Durant will have a difficult time adjusting to the team, especially after he requested to be traded. But now he doesn’t have any choice but to stay with the team.

I think what the Knicks offered for Donovan Mitchell was reasonable. As compared to what they are being offered for Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz want a significant upgrade over what they are being offered now.

If I am not wrong, that Patrick Beverley rate was held up because of Kevin Durant/Kyrie's situation. He wanted to get the hell out of Utah. And yes it is confirmed that he is going to sign to the Lakers.

For me, the Jazz won here big time because THT got a new team already. THT isn't that explosive with his stint with the Lakers so him going to other team might be a new opportunity for him to showcase his talents. I'm curious how will PatBev fit with the Lakers  Undecided

Many didn't feel him during the last season. He really has to redeem himself and get back in shape for this season.

Because some critics are finding a way to criticize the Lakers. That treatment to Westbrook isn't that harsh when he was playing in Houston Rocket and Washington Wizards. There are just of people who don't like Lakers and Lebron James that's why these people are finding a way to always throw a bad impression at the whole Lakers. There are lots of issues that the Lakers faced but didn't highlight.

Anthony Davis, an injury prone, didn't even receive some backlash for being soft. Westbrook can't carry a team while AD and LBJ are not present.

Other than that fact, the people and the fans really expected the new roster of Lakers to be so dominant last season because the team are consist of All-Star players when in reality most of that All-Star player is not in their prime anymore. Moreover, they set up a high standard for Westbrook with almost no room for mistakes because of the stats he had in the past years.

And with the news that KD will be staying with the Nets, it means that Kyrie will not be traded as well. Lebron will also be stuck with Westbrook, so I guess after all the drama and fans waiting as to what will be the next move of both teams, there will be none after all. And I say it's good though, let them play the same roster this season and see how they are going to fare. Last season was a disaster, although the Nets went to the playoffs but was swept. It could be a burden for them to stay with their teams, or could be another motivation to show their critics.

Both said teams were trying to build a super team and none of them succeeded because they haven't established any chemistry at all as almost all players on both sides is a playmaker and used to be alpha before they got into Lebron's team. As far as I know, Lebron wanted to trade WB in exchange for Irving but that didn't happen because the Nets were giving a priority to Durant to be traded but that didn't happen as well, so it's quite safe to say that we'll be seeing the same roster this coming season.

Trade update: Talen Hourton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson have been traded for Patrick Beverley.
Now, things have gotten spicier for the Lakers because Pat Beverly and WB have a long-standing beef with each other. This might be a good trade though but let's see if WB and Pat Beverley can settle things aside.

^ I can’t imagine Westbrook and Beverly getting along. If Russell had any part in a trade not happening before, he certainly would want out now. I think Beverly is an upgrade from THT though and a good move for the Lakers. It doesn’t do anything to solve their Westbrook contract problem though.

Patrick Beverley is a good stopper Lakers can use him for that role, while they will might try to blend

LeBron,AD and Westbrook, they need defense and that might be the job for Beverly. in regard to THT, we've seen him contributing
when LeBron or AD is sitting, he adds up good numbers for Lakers offense.

Moving to a new team which is also in the process of rebuilding might give him more minutes and more time to handle the ball
I mean, he can be used as the center of the offense. Him And JC would have a good combo.

The current laker roster doesn't look too good, I do think Lakers will be performing terrible this upcoming season. Besides if Anthony Davis continues to be prone to injury he will be a big liability in the long-run.
I also think Patrick Beverly trade is good for the team since he can offer good defence while they let Westbrook or Lebron rest during the games.

According to Pat Bev he said he would want to play with Westbrook and Lebron if they dont have any chemistry they can not let them play both at the same time.

So, if they built a team where it is Kyrie-Seth-Harris-KD-Simmons five out there, which would be very difficult because it lacks center but they can just rest one of them and put a center in there and just change whoever is resting, that way they will always have 1 center, 1 amazing passer Simmons, and 3 shooters at all times. That's a team that can fight for a title with the right coach if you ask me.

Kyrie Irving and Seth Curry shouldn't be on the same floor most of the time. Seth is more suited up for being a backup Point Guard for Irving. Ben Simmons though can handle the PG position like in his Philadelphia 76ers tenure but looking at Brooklyn's roster, I see that he is more suited up as a Shooting Guard and a backcourt duo for Kyrie Irving.

There's no question about the performance of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons. They are all good and explosive. However, since these 3 are known "divas" in their own way, I hope Coach Steve Nash will be able to handle these 3 properly wherein we can see the cooperation of these said players to their coach. Especially Durant, there's surely an awkward relationship now between him and his coach.

Anyhow, I know they are professional and will do their best for the team.
Maybe Seth will be better paired with Ben, while KD and Kyrie stay at their own pace. There's already chemistry built on both of those pairs so it won't be a problem for them. Now the question is if Coach Nash would like to mix things up. NBA is a battle of being unpredictable and I would like to see how far they will be willing to take once they are mixed. It should be good. They should probably test it at the start of the season and see if it can be worked out. Who knows, maybe old Nets fans will be back cheering at them.  Grin

The failed trade of Durant is now being compared to what happened with Kobe during his 2007 trade request.
They even went far as the Brooklyn Nets may also get a championship if history will be repeated. 2009 is when Kobe achieved another championship with Pau, Odom, Artest (Metta World Peace), Fisher, Bynum, and more.

^ I can’t imagine Westbrook and Beverly getting along. If Russell had any part in a trade not happening before, he certainly would want out now. I think Beverly is an upgrade from THT though and a good move for the Lakers. It doesn’t do anything to solve their Westbrook contract problem though.
I think I'm imagining a Westbrook rule out? Seems the trades are getting interesting as it's closer and closer to the regular season and it's not that long though. If they can work it out then probably that will be good but if not, I don't think that they should continue to build that chemistry. Pat Bev can improve their defense though in my opinion.

I know NBA fans here talked too much about the Lakers in the past but now, we aren't hearing from them anymore aside from Lebron signing a 2 year deal.
Now the Lakers traded Talen Horton Tucker and forward Stanley Johnson for the veteran Patrick Beverley.

Nah, at the end of the day this players are competitors inside the court, but outside of the court they are all friends. Recently Green got married and you can see Lebron and Tatum was their.

Even Lance Stephenson and Lebron James have this "blowing the years" incident when he was still with the Pacers, but they become teammates in Lakers. There are a lot of expectations with THT, he wasn't even included in the trade to get Westbrook, they chooses Kyle Kuzma. But I guess with so much veterans in the Lakers uniform last season, THT didn't have the time or simply he is not up to par.

I don't think that Simmons can be a "shooting" guard, we all know that his one of his weak points, he can't shoot outside. He is more of a drive by player and assists man, so really a point guard. So now sure how they can space things up with Kyrie and Ben at the same time. Or it could be Irving and Simmons alternating as PG for the Nets, and then KD doing his thing and then Seth as tehir shooting guard. But we will have to see what kind of adjustment Nash will do with his 3 superstars that might overlap the position.

That will make them unpredictable because Irving can play a great PG as well. If Simmons will play hard, he cannot just contribute to holding the ball but most importantly on the defensive side because of his athleticism and his length. Though that remains to be seen but I'm optimistic that this line up is more effective than the previous big 3 with James Harden.

The Lakers is just finalizing the Pat Bev acquisition, gonna be interesting to see Bev in Lakers uniform and obviously the experience is what brings him to the Lakers and of course his tough defense.

Exactly my thought as well. The Lakers are allowing a lot of points last season. They really lack in defense. Though adding Beverley in the mix will amp their defense a bit, I think it is not enough. We might see more trades coming in for the Lakers in order to boost their defense. Beverley is a good acquisition since he does not only give defense but also work on the other side of the court. He is 38% 3 pt shooter. He can extend the defense of the opposing team wider for Lebron and AD to take advantage of the paint.

About Beverley's relationship with the other Laker stars, I think they are professional enough to get pass through their past trash talks. Trash talk is part of the game and they understand that. Now that they are playing together, they can put aside their previous grievance in order to achieve their goal this season.

That's gonna be very big if the Lakers can also acquire Turner. I do not know how or why the Pacers are just giving up its star players and acting like a rebuilding team. They already wasted a lot of talent which they will try to get from future draft picks. Malcolm Brogdon for example for a bunch of extras the Celtics wanted to avoid and a 2023 draft pick. The Celtics are favorites to win the next season's trophy so Indiana may settle for pick 30. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Fournier will become a mentor since he will be old by the time the Jazz becomes a playoff team again.

Pat is experienced but also with an ego together with Lebron and Russ. They will collide if they always lose games. Pat is the guy that can be honest and will tell Russ to his face that he sucks. Cheesy

I would like to see them playing small, with Joe, Kyrie, Seth, Ben and KD with good ball movement. This lineup inside may work for

the Nets. Even in this small squad all are also good in defense, though Seth might be the weak side if in case he needs to guard a much bigger

and quicker star, but all four do know how to play tight defense if needed. It's more on how Nash will design their plays and what kind of system

that will fill the weak side, just like how the Warriors, when they are playing small, offense become their defense and it can be duplicated or can

be enhanced if all these players inside will be determined to win a game together.
