For those who believe that defense is still the winning method to be a champion. Here is a good read. Ranking all 30 NBA defenses: Why the Grizzlies, Celtics and Nets stand out from the packhttps://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/ranking-all-30-nba-defenses-why-the-grizzlies-celtics-and-nets-stand-out-from-the-pack/Here are the rankings made in the article. 1. Memphis Grizzlies - I don't doubt this. Jaren Jackson Jr. is one of the best rim protectors in the league. He averaged 3 blocks per game in the regular season and 2 blocks in the postseason. And it's not just that, he became a threat in the paint that players are hesitating to drive the ball in. That's a big impact to keep their opponents outside. 2. Boston Celtics - They lost Marcus Smart (the 2022 DPOY) but got Jrue Holiday who is also a defensive player. The Celtics will have a strong defense outside but might be weak on the inside. Against teams who focuses on centers like Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, they will probably have a tough time. 3. Brooklyn Nets - Nic Claxton. 2.5 blocks per game in the regular season and 1.8 in the post-season. This guy had been protecting the rim for the Nets and he has the power to face the likes of Giannis and Embiid. Then, they have Bridges, Simmons, and Royce who are also known for their defensive talents. 4. Cleveland Cavaliers - Oh yeah, the twin tower of the Cavs. Allen and Mobley. They are already better defensively so I want to see more of Mobley shooting those perimeter shots on high percentage this season.

There is a popular saying in football, that offense is the best defensive method, meaning when you've put every of your opponent in a mindset and situation where above every other thing they need to first figure out how to stop your attacking prowess, they'll have less time to think about how to implement a counter offensive measure. It's off no use when for a team to be a defensively solid team, and are then in reverse awful in attack / offense, they'll always be on the back foot compared to teams that have it otherwise. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Boston Celtics are they team to beat this season, they've more than what it takes to be the favorite for the championship this year, they're one of the teams that have had the best transfer so into this season, and I really can't think of any loophole in their roster right now, they just don't seem to have any weakness, that's me judging by every of their game I've seen so far in this preseason, perhaps, the regular season could change my opinion, I can't say for sure yet.

He needs to make it his team and use every opportunity to make them realize that they throw the wrong player out. He couldn't have done that; the Warriors made a well-thought-out decision. If only Poole had a strong playoff performance last season, he probably wouldn't have been traded. Unfortunately, he showed the opposite of what he displayed during their championship run, and that left the team with no choice but to trade him. It seems like both sides are content, and it appears to be a win-win situation. A single season of bad performance in the playoffs is usually not a ground for a team to trade or let go of someone they believe is a potential. There should be something not told in public by the Warriors' management. Or it could be that they saw CP3 as a golden opportunity more than Poole hence the trade. Fans are divided on the trade but it is what it is. This is a blessing in disguise for Poole to show what he is as a player since the Wizards do not have a superstar. We'll find out soon if he is a superstar potential or just a support type of player. The reason for this seems rather evident – the altercation between Poole and Green was a major factor in Poole not feeling fully embraced by the Warriors as part of the family. Perhaps it was Poole's own decision to not give his all during the playoffs, forcing the Warriors to consider trading him. It's hard to take Poole's playoff struggles at face value when he's reportedly at 100% health. There must be a deeper reason for his performance issues that won't heal as long as he remains with his old team. It's a relief that he's been let go, and hopefully, time will heal those wounds. Maybe Poole sees that with the splash bro existence he won't be able to make it as the main alpha, so the trade will give him that opportunity to become one and fulfil his goal. True, he needs to wait for his turn to become the leader of the team, and that will only happen once the big 3 retire. In his mind, perhaps he felt he couldn't wait any longer, so he decided to take a shortcut. He was clever in playing his cards right, performing exceptionally well to secure a good contract. After all, no team would offer a good contract to a player who isn't exceptional. Though that fight against Green is still the main factors of the trade, or maybe there's something behind that will come out, remember the time where KD and Green also have some issue, but it was being cleared when KD accept the interview of Green from his podcast channel. We've seen it happen with KD too. Compared to Poole, KD is undoubtedly much better both in terms of achievements and talent. Poole is still young and has a lot to prove. If KD couldn't dismantle the big 3, it's highly unlikely that Poole will succeed. KD's approach in the past was somewhat similar - 'If you can't beat them, join them,' and he joined the Warriors. However, that didn't signal his retirement; he's been traded to different teams in pursuit of another championship that the Warriors were able to give him.

He truly deserves to have his jersey hung because he was one of the major reasons behind the Warriors' success when they won a championship. He was named Finals MVP in 2015, and his ability to limit LeBron, who is the best player of the Cavaliers, was a key part of their victory. He successfully guarded LeBron throughout that series. I can confidently say that he had a fulfilling career in the NBA. As we all know, a player's ultimate satisfaction comes from winning a championship, and Iggy achieved that with Curry and the rest of the big three.

That's true, he's like one of the pillars of the GSW when they've made championships together. With his retirement, it's also possible that he'll be taken as part of the staff I guess if he's ever going to get some offers there and that's a usual thing for retired legends. Speaking of the Warriors, Wemby had a pretty nice highlight tonight swatting Klay Thompson and then getting a monster dunk on a fast break the other way. It was impressive.

Yes, that MVP already proved that he is very instrumental to the Warriors dynasty at the start when they got him. And maybe a long the way, he provided leadership to Steph Curry and Draymond and then they become the leader of the Warriors after that. Although Iggy a the background and inserted in games wherein his experienced is needed. But it was mostly Curry then to carry the team on his shoulders. I can confidently say that he had a fulfilling career in the NBA. Yeah, him and AI, (same name sake), was one of the biggest hype when they are team mates in the Sixers uniform. He was still very young then, but perhaps it was also help me on how he mold himself to be the player he has become when he has his chance to be a team mate of Allen Iverson.

I think the Spurs tanking for the season last year has paid off. Though some people has doubt this kid's ability in the NBA, but I don't think he's a bust. With that height and skills he'd be unstoppable in the next 2-3 years. Imagine buffing himself up just like how Giannis buffed himself, he'd definitely be unstoppable a little better than the freak of nature. Now, the next step for the Spurs is to build a team around Wemby and surely they'll be back in the playoff picture again.

He'll better be called an alien freak if that time comes. Now, the next step for the Spurs is to build a team around Wemby and surely they'll be back in the playoff picture again.
Are there rumors about some trades that are likely to go into Spurs? Wemby surely needs some veterans to guide and help him inside the court to pay some lessons.

Iggy's retirement has been long overdue, as he has been more of a mentor than a player for the last couple of seasons. Overall, Iggy had a good career in the NBA, and there's no doubt that he certainly contributed to those Warriors victories. I wouldn't even be surprised if the Warriors management decided to retire his jersey. However, I personally will always associate him with the 76ers because I still remember that time and how good he was during his prime.

Achievements and money without playing the game in his last few seasons. Well, he became the Finals MVP of one of the Warriors championships so I think they will retire his jersey. I actually thought he would retire 2 years ago because he cannot contribute anymore but I guess the Warriors management does like him to be there with the team to fill them with positive vibes and some veteran perspective. Iggy will always be remembered for his defensive highlights in GSW. Boston Celtics are they team to beat this season, they've more than what it takes to be the favorite for the championship this year, they're one of the teams that have had the best transfer so into this season, and I really can't think of any loophole in their roster right now, they just don't seem to have any weakness, that's me judging by every of their game I've seen so far in this preseason, perhaps, the regular season could change my opinion, I can't say for sure yet.
I agree when it comes to the East they will be the ones who will be difficult to defeat. With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the prime of their career, the offense is already covered, adding KP and Jrue is a big plus because they will have men who can do both offense and defense. Who do you think will end up playing against them in case they are in the Eastern Conference Finals? I am still underestimating the Miami Heat despite the fact that they recovered from being in the play-in tournament and then up to the Finals. I guess it's all in my head. My prediction is the Bucks against the Celtics. Too early for a prediction but I am kind of imagining it already.

If by chance he will gain that strength the way Giannis develops his ability, Wemby is more dangerous with the skills like that he can play you with or without the ball with a solid percentage of converting the basket. I will agree with what you said, Spurs needs to work on adding players who will help this kid, individual talent he got what they needed from him but it's a team game they need to surround him with good and reliable supporting stars the way they provide in the time of Duncan. Having Robinson and the whole squad at the beginning and having both Parker and Manu in the last part of their journey.

Speaking of the Warriors, Wemby had a pretty nice highlight tonight swatting Klay Thompson and then getting a monster dunk on a fast break the other way. It was impressive.
Like what people are saying on social media, is he an alien? A few more years and development of his muscle, he's gonna be an absolute beast inside the court. Yeah he is. I don't think anyone is doubting Wembanyama's ability, he's got everything that is needed to thrive in the league, I believe what most people are saying, at least speaking for myself is that we can't expect a Jokic or Giannis-esque from him right from his first season, he's got a lot of potentials but it's not going to be a day work, Giannis and Jokic aren't were they are today by their first season. Agreed its unfair for people to compare to those types of players. Jokic and giannis are perennial mvp candidates and "best in the world" conversation. People need to let the kid play and see where he lands in terms of the conversation. After seeing him in the preseason I'm just excited to see him take the court. Wonder what the ratings will be for the kids first game.

After watching Wemby against Warriors, I have to say if that guy doesn't get injured a lot like many expect him to, then he could be one of the best players that ever played this game.
I am not even joking, I am talking about Jordan and Lebron levels, that dude is capable of doing anything and he is like 10 feet tall at the same time. He is capable of dribbling like a point guard, he is capable of shooting like a scorer, he is capable of rebounding like rodman, and he is capable of blocking like Ben Wallece, that dude is capable of doing everything and he is quite fast for his height and it's nearly impossible to stop him when he gets close and other players literally run away from the basket when they see him under the rim. Dude has the highest ceiling potential I have ever seen, all depends on his injury situation.

Yes, no question about his talent, we've already seen that he can play good basketball and there's a lot of hype surrounding his name and he is living it. But we all know that talent alone is not enough. The GOAT himself in his early years in the Bulls was not smooth, and when he was about to have a break out run, the Pistons are there to stop him. And it's not anymore a mental thing, but physical. So he did go to the weight room and the rest is history. Same with Jokic, he has to lose weight in the last 2-3 years to be able to play and move like we see him last year. And then Giannis too, in the beginning he as too skinny, but he was able to transformed his body and then improved his games. Wemby has the game already, but he also needs to get his body prime for a gruelling 80+ games a season.

A generational player, an alien, a player that we've never seen before in NBA. These are the phrases that are being used to describe him, and TBH, it's kind of true. NBA has been there for a very long time, and yet we didn't see any player who is a good defender in the paint, a good three point shooter, with handles, and can pass the ball. Maybe the closest that we've seen that has similarities with Wemby is Jokic, but Jokic isn't that good inside defender while as for Wemby, he's a good inside, and perimeter defender as well. Other teams will be having a hard time shooting inside the paint while he's there. The kiddo is hyped, and he's living of to that hype... at least in the pre-season. If he continues to play like that, he can be an all-star in his rookie season, and it's the first time we're seeing it since Blake Griffin in 2011. Nevertheless, I just wish the good season for him, and as to the Spurs being a playoff contender, I don't think so because the team is loaded with young, and inexperienced players still, but they're in good hands since we know who their coach is. I just hope that he will not get injured though because we know that players who has a height like that are kind of more prone to injuries.

I initially thought Wemby was just for the hype, but this lanky guy is proving us wrong with his impressive preseason performance, playing at an MVP-level. He can undoubtedly perform on different areas of the court, the way he selects his shots demonstrates a high basketball IQ. It's not just on offense; his defensive mindset is commendable too. He can chase down players, something other big men struggle with due to their speed limitations. However, Wemby, with his athleticism and long arms, can disrupt his opponent's shot selection. In the game against the Warriors, it was amusing to see Wiggins guarding Wemby. Wiggins is known for his defensive skills, but he didn't match up well with Wemby and he look like a little boy against a giant. The Spurs emerged victorious in that battle. However, I also noticed a weakness in Wemby - he seemed to run out of energy. This could be a factor he needs to work on, especially when facing teams like the Warriors who play at a high pace. If he can't keep up with the game's tempo, it might force the Spurs to bench Wemby which is not what we want to see.

Yeah, the Spurs won the game. Wemby put up 19 points in just 20 minutes of play, which seems about right for a preseason game. But you could tell he got a bit winded in that one, and who wouldn't? It was a small-ball game by the Warriors, and that can really tire out the opposition, especially if they're used to playing with big guys. Maybe that's why Tacko Fall and Boban Marjanovic don't see a lot of minutes on their teams, as they can't keep up with the fast-paced game. But Wemby's still young, he showed some special skills, and I'm sure there's plenty of time for him to develop his game. As for Kristaps Porzingis (7-3), he earned some good minutes with his team, so it can vary from player to player, I guess.
