Rumors going around that LeBron is opting out of his contract and resigning for less money and a longer than expected contract. This will allow the Lakers to use their full MLE to sign a better player to fill out the team. Maybe this was the give back for them drafting Bronny. Sort of funny. They’re basically going to take Bronny’s pay out of LeBron’s check.
The decision is mutual I guess, Lakers giving him to draft Bronny and he's giving it back. I guess that Lebron is all set to make new records and this is like his 2nd in the history. Third might be a ring together with his son and next if possible by next year or by 2026 CMIIW, Bryce can come to the NBA and be drafted too, maybe by Lakers again. But Bryce doubts that he might be able to play with his pops.

Edit: Paul George has officially opted out of his contract. Expecting to hear who he’ll be playing for in the next few days…
I guess the rumor might come true that PG will be playing with the Warriors. Hmmm... Smiley
Then, the possibility that Klay and/or Wiggins out of the Warriors are very highly likely. Interesting and isn't it that CP3 was still signed on Warriors and there goes the deadline? A lot of money is prepared for the Warriors I guess.

Klay is out (for sure) but Wiggins contract is still active, so there's a possibility that  Wiggins will be included in the trade if will not give him another chance.

He could still be signed but rumors has it that he'll be part of the trade package. honestly, I don't see CP3 being as effective as he was before, the Warriors needs to clear up a little of their salary cap for them to fill their gap which is their inside defender, hiring a reliable big man probably could help them.

Yeah ypu know there was always something going on with the bronny pick.  So much stuff in the background that none of us know about.  In terms of Paul George I think that's the biggest story right now, which is meh.  He is 34 and the decline is gonna come in hard.  He probably wants a 3/4 year contract but there is no way I'd do that as a gm.  Dude gets hurt a lot and is on the downside of his career.  Will see how the market values him which will level the vet expectation in terms of contracts in this market.  As a knicks fan just waiting for that Hart announcement and I'm set, ready to watch this team roll for the next couple of years.

They're expecting Klay to sign somewhere else and that's why he's not going to be pushed. As for Wiggins, you're right. He's about to get traded and he's decommitted to join the Team Canada for the Olympics so that he'll remain healthy for that potential trade, what a poor guy we have there.

Interesting and isn't it that CP3 was still signed on Warriors and there goes the deadline? A lot of money is prepared for the Warriors I guess.

I see, he has aged and still got no ring. I guess that he has already accepted that wherever he gets signed, that's probably all about the contract and money and will no longer push for some rings as it's hard to be hired by a team even you're the best and healthy but you're no longer young.

I think it's legendary that LeBron is playing with his son in the same team. Again, GOAT is breaking new ground in basketball history. It would be nice to have a roster of good players around him and play for a championship, but Lakers are far from that.

European basketball is starting to dominate the NBA more and more, we see that with the first pick of Zaccharie Risacher. For the first time in history, 5 of the top 14 picks are European players. I don't know if Risacher will create a Wemby effect, but we can say that the Americans have a serious competition now.

I don’t think so actually. I’m not familiar with all the details, but from what I’m reading the Warriors needed a sign and trade to get PG, so by him opting out they pretty much are out of the running unless they can work some sort of trade deal to clear cap space. If that’s true, then it looks like Philly or maybe even Dallas might actually win the PG13 sweepstakes.

According to Shams Charania, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors have decided to part ways for good.
I wonder which team Klay will go to.
The news above supports Paul George going to the Golden State Warriors.
Let's see when Golden State announces that they have signed with Paul George.

Woj is saying Paul George will be meeting with the Magic and Sixers. Klay and PG13 on the Magic or will Klay go to the Lakers? The Magic might be left scrambling for a big name.

I’m surprised to see the Warriors and Mavericks left off this list. That says to me PG13 is going to the Sixers.

I don't know but it seems that Magic is really pursuing anyone of them to be in their team for next season. And for Klay, it we could have seen the end of an era for the Warriors specially if they can't get Paul George to somewhat fill the void that Klay left.

So those two names are really the biggest trade before the start of the season and we still don't know where they going to be. Just a matter of negotiations and how much Orlando will offer to any of this two. Lakers are as well are in the mix of Klay, so let's see.

Have you seen some post about Thompson getting rumored to sign with the Nuggets, I think it's very disappointing and he might not end with the Nuggets.

As per the explanation in this article : https://www.essentiallysports.com/nba-active-basketball-news-denver-nuggets-news-klay-thompson-dream-in-free-agency-ends-despite-viral-denver-sighting-as-five-million-move-dictates-future/

Quote
Fans were surprised when one of them spotted Klay enjoying his off-season in a restaurant in Mile High City. Sure enough, murmurs began of him joining forces with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray to pursue another title. Moreover, joining the Denver side has always seemed like a “pipe dream” for Klay, and with KCP declining his $15.4 million player option- possibly becoming a free agent, KT could be the perfect replacement to fill that void, as per Shams Charania via Harrison Wind. However, how realistic is this?

This explains that it's only possible if Klay will accept a lower offer which I don't think would happen since there are other teams that are still willing to pursue him and could offer a better contract, probably not as big as his contract with the Warriors but closer to that.

LeBron's trying to get that championship one last time, maybe. This could be another historic moment if he and his son win a championship together. LeBron probably doesn't need money now since he has made a lot from his max contracts before, so it's about time for him to cut his contract a bit to make way for more role players that could improve their team. Good luck to him and Bronny; hopefully, this plan will work out.

I don't think LeBron has much of a chance of becoming a champion. The Lakers were not very assertive this season, we will have a similar season again.
It will be a great pleasure just to watch LeBron and his son on the same team. Nothing like this has ever happened in history.
I really want to watch how LeBron will play with his son. He is still much more athletic than many young players and is good enough to survive the whole season, and his motivation will be very high when he steps on the same arena with his son Smiley

Most are rumors for Klay Thompson's new team.

Here is the take of the Golden State Warriors management as why they are preparing for his exit.
Warriors reportedly preparing for Klay Thompson's exit, with Lakers, Clippers and Mavericks among suitors
https://sports.yahoo.com/warriors-reportedly-preparing-for-klay-thompsons-exit-with-lakers-clippers-and-mavericks-among-suitors-214609901.html

Quote
The Warriors have reportedly had close to zero communication over the past two weeks, when they had a window to exclusively negotiate his return. Both sides now believe Thompson's tenure in the Bay Area is over.

Also.
Quote
The Warriors are also reportedly open to facilitating a sign-and-trade.
I think this is the better option for him. Get a good contract with the Warriors and be traded. I bet many teams are trying to get him but they won't pay high enough for a 34-year-old dude whose performance has been affected by so many injuries.
He ain't Kevin Durant caliber although he has 4 championship rings and that's the reason why he might not get a contract that maybe he is expecting way too much.
The Lakers are said to offer him a midlevel salary and I doubt he will accept that especially if he has the pride of a champion.
Let's see how this news will end up.

This will allow the Lakers to use their full MLE to sign a better player to fill out the team. Maybe this was the give back for them drafting Bronny. Sort of funny. They’re basically going to take Bronny’s pay out of LeBron’s check.

I believe that as long as LeBron is healthy, the team is still considered a championship contender. LeBron is not an ordinary player; once he is in the playoffs, he can be very dangerous. However, if there are no significant changes to the lineup, I think they'll end up with the same outcome as last season.

Bronny won't make much of a contribution to the team since he isn't really a superstar, so we can't expect him to have a significant impact. This offseason, it would be interesting to see if the Lakers can sign a free agent with championship experience. I think Klay Thompson is the only one on the list now, but it's uncertain if KT would be fine with a lower salary.

Actually, Thompson is much easier to add to any roster since his role is just for catch and shoot. He is good as 6th man or a starter if he can regain his shooting form which is possible if he will have new motivation.

His gameplay is not that too much physical which means his injury is not a big issue. He just has a very bad year this season but he still got the heart of a champion which is valuable for a team that composed with young talents.

Mavs is the best team for him. Lakers is a trash team that has no real team work.

Even though he struggle last season I still see him good as starter. Its just Warrior just have a disappointing season and maybe that affect the confidence of people. But also I think Klay is perfect fit on Mavs since they need additional shooters, He can play together with Kyrie and Doncic. The only problem is the ball rotation since the ball always stays long in the hand of Doncic. But for sure when they have three shooters in team especially if they can acquire Klay for sure he adopt on the rotation and let them perform their assignment in court.

Lakers would be a bad destination for Klay knowing that they are only focus on Bron and for provably that he will totally experience a career decline especially if he will go on Lakers. So for better competition and betterment of his career Klay should go to Mavs since this is best team he could join .

Also.

He's been affected by those injuries and he's aging and we know NBA is a business even how good you are if you are not performing that much anymore then expect that the team will their move to trade you, there's no more pride and I guess if there's already rumors maybe his camp is also sorting their options and sooner they will provide updates regarding to what will be his fate on this league.

I follow you with your opinion even he got 4 rings but his caliber is not the same with KD, let see if which team he will play next.

I do get that his playoff series was terrible, but he is coming off an injury as we know and him being a bit slower with age and that injury it becomes understandable. He did managed to get a title after it, but he is getting older and more tired. He is not used as a spot up shooter neither, he is used as a primary defender of whoever is the star on the other team, so his old age and injury probably still bothering him and being so active on the defense all combine to mean that when they are on offense he is not that great.

However, would I not sign him? I would definitely sign him, unless they are getting someone better guaranteed, then they should keep him, plus they may get rid of Wiggins, so they could actually have some decent line up again.

Donovan Mitchell expected to sign a 4-year $200 million plus deal today to stay with the Cavs. I guess he didn’t see much interest from other teams, or he decided to just take the bag and never compete for a championship. I don’t blame him. 200+ million dollars is a nice chunk of change.

Edit: Warriors have released Chris Paul. Which team will be willing to pick him up? I think it’s over for him but we’ll see if LeBron wants to play with his friend and his son. Isn’t Bronny’s godfather Chris Paul?

Dallas Mavericks sent Tim Hardaway Jr. and 3 second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons, while adding Quentin Grimes to their roster in return.
Smart move by the Dallas Mavericks. After all the role of THJ to the Mavs, he didn't even did it right and now he's going to a shitty team.

Well, no offense about the Detroit Pistons. They were once one of the best team but that era has been gone long time ago and that roster way back then was good compared to theirs now.

While I appreciate Cade Cunningham, he should be transferred to a better team and get some help from other stars.

No way Detroit let's cade go that would completely destroy theor rebuild.  He is the piece that needs to take the next step.  In terms of moves I think it was a good one for Dallas.  Quentin is a solid backcourt defender and with Luka and kyrie getting all the pressure on offense q can just spot up and shoot 3s all day.
Cade can find himself in the playoffs or even in the finals but with a better team and that's what other teams are doing.

They're reforming their roster and actually investing to their players to get better ones. But if he's bind with a contract and he'll stay there, he'd always end up not seeing it.

Or, if he wants to be the face of his team, we can't do anything about that even if we want him to reach better place.

That's good for him.

The Cavs did well on putting the tab on him with that contract. And despite that he can probably get some better contract on other team, $200M plus is a lot of money for him to say no.

Maybe one or two more seasons for him. Let's see if the move of Lebron of declining the player option for which sure is a pay cut could give him some space for a contract.
