We can't really say how unlucky these fellas were. I mean to say that it is not clear how long they had been Heroes waiting to become Legendary. Some of these guys might have been quite close to 1,000 when the Legendary rank was first introduced while you become Legendary "somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity". For example, I've walked almost the whole range from the lowest bound to nearly the highest, namely, to 1022. In this way, I should be rightfully considered as less lucky than someone who got promoted at 1029...

But who might have actually been in "pending" mode only for a few activity periods

Pending mode?? it's meant legendary has been set up so account can get it fast or less than 1030 activity.

Depends who u r comparing with. There is not much difference between a Hero Member & a Legendary. But, in terms of signature space, there is BIG difference between a Full Member & a Legendary.

Nope no difference to being a legendary member apart from the rank change and one of your gold coins now being half blue.
By the time you reach legendary they may have dropped ranks altogether or come up with another new rank so don't hold your breath.

More likely the forum software is going to change eventually. How that will work regarding ranks is beyond me, but if you haven't noticed, look above ^^^^ :  News: To be able to use the next phase of the beta forum software, please ensure that your email address is correct/functional.

Uh, not really, you have to achieve like 740 activity (I am guessing sorry?) before that can even happen, so you have long ways to go, at least 1 year, in which case the 10 billion dollar new forum software will probably be running the new bitcointalk world.

If you really plan to do so, then up the quality of your posts significantly, otherwise I think you won't even reach full member status.

Mods nowadays handle almost a zero tolerance towards that kind of posts. Use this bit of advice in your advantage and up your post quality at least to a decent level.
