All the altcoins come and go but they have all in a way promoted bitcoins. However, bitcoin has been independent compared to the other coins and people who have invested in dogecoin and other coins and switching back to BTC considering that it is more popular and worth buying.

I think the article is just a person's view regarding Bitcoin and altcoin relationship and does not cover everyones view.  On top of it aside from the positive effect there are also negative effect this altcoins to Bitcoin.  Lots of altcoins had been labeled scam making several investors hate cryptocurrency and considered Bitcoin as one of them.  In my opinion Bitcoin can stand alone even without these altcoin.

Altcoin has a big help for bitcoin to grow fast.. if there is no altcoin we can not push the price also.. since the price of bitcoin is relaying in demand and supply it will be increase more impression due to other altcoin promotions or how they are promoting their altcoin.. that can people knows about crypto currency benefits and what are the use for those crypto's..

The way I see it is, comparing it to fiat, BTC is like the USD - Its the crypto world reserve currency.  Everything else is priced against it and traded with it. Without the alts BTC would have a lot less real world action right now.

Look at the exchanges for a start. Would they be making as much money if it was a straight fiat to BTC set up and nothing else?

Then look at the ALT mining side of it. Highly profitable businesses have been set up based on mining ETH, XMR, ZEC etc.

But, most importantly I think, the ALTS are bringing more people into BTC that maybe wouldn't be here without the ALTS. Just look at the Ethereum miners for a start. Sure a lot of them are holding in the hope that "the world computer" thing happens, but a lot are also trading them up for the daddy - the one which we all know is here to stay

Disagree and it's not like that.

Bitcoin price are based on people's buy and sell action, basically the demand. Bitcoin are mainly used for trades and different usages (money transfer, gambling, payments etc.) that's why it was bought by other people. If such cases that there is a price increase, it's not because of the altcoins. Remember the MT. GOX era or when bitcoin price were on the pump back then? There are only few alts that time that really a popular.

yes i am agree, without doge and ltc, maybe bitcoin can not increase like now and we can make money from bitcoin as much as now. i think bitcoin is design like a king or mother of crypto currency and now bitcoin is an exchange from altcoin into bitcoin so we can withdraw it into fiat. bitcoin and altcoin is actually related one to another and is one of them its not exist, then there is no balance for crypto currency and there is no benefits than we can get from crypto currency.

In terms of technology blockchain is under test and implementation on most sectors. Bitcoin from the scratch based upon the technology has grown in value which no other currencies were able to make. This happened just with the competence, else we could have been experiencing a small fluctuations that happen similar to the stock market.

I wouldn't agree to the points you made because if you see there are way more investors in bitcoin when compared to altcoins and when altcoins are introduced most of the investor are people who actually hold bitcoin and they invest in altcoins mostly by selling bitcoins or they normally invest because they know who altcoins works or in general how crypto currencies work. If altcoins were the reason why bitcoin is like this today then why would bitcoin still have the largest market cap compared to altcoins. And because of bitcoin only there is something called altcoins in the world.

Lol do you know what you really are talking about?  Competition takes away user from each competing coins.  It is like talking about a community with one shop and another scenario of having two shop that offers  same service.  Just think of these scenario and you will fully grasp the idea.  More coins means  more choice thus creating less demand to  each one of these coins.

Yes, you are right . and I agree with some of your opinion, but the highest increase in bitcoin was in 2011 - 2012 - 2013 was the year of the beginning and growth bitcoin prices that received public capital.

look at 2008 , how much price of 1 BTC if we assume 50 million BTC be devided total collected $ ( 50 m / Fund $) ?. to buy 1 pizza would have to pay 10000 BTC in 2009.
And I assume when dogecoin and other cryptoccurency appear, then there is rotation between the price of bitcoin with other cryptoccurency, the bitcoin holders move with other cryptoccurency, then altcoin have value and price. and new investors for altcoin see a favorable opportunity, no doubt investors should buy bitcoin, and bitcoin is not realized price of $ will increase,what you keep talking without altcoin bitcoin prices will be high?

Altcoins are bitcoin dependent but bitcoin is not altcoin dependent. Both of them are totally depending onpeople adoption rate for value appreciations. If we see from 2 to 3 years from till now the price of bitcoin has a great impact upon altcoins still bitcoin prices are decided my economical events. two shops that are offering the same goods will divide the users among them.
two coins that are offering the same features can take some users from bitcoin.
but the question is "is there any altcoin that is offering same features or can offer the same features" and the answer is not completely yes!
there are some coins that come close but they are not worthy competition enough to make people switch to an altcoin.
