This is amazing news honestly.  I wonder if any other crypto has developed a non-profit around their coin before.  I see a whole new avenue of adoption and potential with this direction.  EGC could be on the bleeding edge of a new non-profit revolution.

Non-profits that take in A LOT of charitable donations annually could have a new system of governance with DAOs and allow their donors to have a visible stake in the direction of their contributions.

I feel like I just had a well-duh lightbulb moment.

Thanks for sharing your excitement, dbc23! To be honest, I am very excited about it too, but there is much work to be done.

I do know other 'crypto-projects' have obtained LLC's and different 'nonprofit' classifications before, yes. I work with and do personally know some of them. They are not all structured the same. There are 29 different 'nonprofit' classifications in 501(c) alone. 501(c)(3) is one of the few that donations to the organization are tax-deductible. Any of these 29 classifications can be ordered in different ways also and the criteria for that order varies in different states. Some states have 'lower' criteria. Ohio does not. Any of those 29 can be filed in different additional ways also. Things like the possibility of political endorsements as well as projected donation amounts all need to be indicated in this filing process. Obtaining a federal EIN number needs to be done in this process also if the orginaztion is going to aquire one. My point is, there are many different organizations that can claim, 'nonprofit', 'entity', and/or 'organization' even. Not all of these mean the same thing and I do believe the intent can be derived from the structure to some degree.

The EverGreenCoin Foundation is being organized in the most 'formal' structure possible. The EverGreenCoin Foundation will have directors, officers, and members who will vote as needed. Those names are yet to be made public because the legalities of these positions are still being explored, but rest assured, the bitcointalk community will be very well represented when and if any matters ever need to be voted on.

It is a time-consuming process with several steps. Of course, I will keep the community informed along the way.

Thanks for the interest!

The EverGreenCoin Foundation is making the next step towards becoming a Nonprofit Organization. A Nonprofit Organization is a legal entity and is typically run to further an ideal or goal rather than in the interests of profit.

It is the goal of the EverGreenCoin Foundation to help the public and the members of the Nonprofit. The Foundation will be the legal branch of the EverGreenCoin community, helping members in the areas where legal counsel is needed or required.

The EverGreenCoin Foundation will be incorporated in the US State of Ohio by Mr. Steven Saxton. Permits and legal fees are expensive to form a Nonprofit Organization, so we ask the community to help us so we can help each other.

If you would like to help EverGreenCoin grow, you can do so by visiting the website and participating in the crowdfund.  Contributions can be made with direct cryptocurrency donations, PayPal, or credit cards.  Thank you and stay frosty.

https://evergreencoin.org/product/evergreencoin-foundation-nonprofit-crowdfund/

The EverGreenCoin Foundation will be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit. Once we obtain this status, donations will be tax-exempt. This should greatly increase the capability of EverGreenCoin to continue to do amazing things. The legal status change will never change the fact that the EverGreenCoin Foundation will always act in the best interest of EverGreenCoin and the EverGreenCoin community, as it always has.

Both this nonprofit tax-exempt status and the legal aid of the lawyers that help EverGreenCoin will serve all the branches of EverGreenCoin and in amazing ways. For example, EverGreenCoin Renewables we will be able to purchase components for the solar staker tax-exempt, reducing the financial commitment needed to produce them. Keeping with our 'sold at cost' promise, they will in-turn be easier to obtain.

This also will open a world of possibilities for grants and other financial mechanisms we will then qualify for. Not to mention the obvious confidence it should give investors.

Please do understand I do need to exercise diligence and execute this in a well thought out manner. There are many tax implications and other factors to be considered for both me personally and The EverGreenCoin Foundation.

This, preceded by the trademark, is the next step to form the legal entity to help shape the future we all not only want to see but, expect to see. Any donations to help make it so are greatly appreciated. https://evergreencoin.org/product/evergreencoin-foundation-nonprofit-crowdfund/

Thank you kindly in advance.

Great news - well done on the hard work on getting this far - I know how much work (and red tape to get through) there is to get registered in this way =)

Cheers,
Starmman

To the readers of the C-Cex newsletter, a recent edition of which listed EverGreenCoin EGC as warned for delisting on May 8th, it is May 8th by my calendar and we have over 6 BTC volume at ccex over the last 30 days. We will not be delisted.

Thanks, c-cex traders!

I am pleased to announce,

Cryptopia has upgraded EverGreenCoin EGC to a 4 out of 5 rating! Because of the 2% foundation fund being considered a "premine" (even though it is not), 4 out of 5 is the highest score possible. Understandably, Cryptopia wants investors to know "... that 2% of the coins are designated."

I do personally, and will in writing, object to them preventing us the 5th star because of it. Preventing a project of the 5th star because it plans for the future and knows funding will be needed is not fair. The 2% is properly disclosed elsewhere for investors to find.

Really, its a 4 out of 4. Wink ...but I will fight for the 5th anyway.

There is a big important difference with premine and devfunds.

99% of all shitcoins has a instamined premine, which again is used for dump way before pow ends.
If i dont remember wrong, EGC's development fund were made by founders reward?
Meaning no instamine, but a slow gradual buildup during pow phase, this way ensuring the dev stays for the long run for the long pay.

Right?

To me, big big diff.

This is absolutely correct.

I am pleased to announce, Cryptopia has heard my argument and awarded EverGreenCoin the 5th star of their 5 star rating system.

Great to hear that - I've added a liquidity bot to c-cex now too - so we should be (a little) covered there, although only have a few hundred EGC assigned there for now - also have the bot up on cryptopia but didn't manage to gather enough funds to start offering liquidity on there yet - thought that c-cex is a better place to concentrate - now if there is some demand at least people can buy =)

I am pleased to announce, Coin Market Cap now also spells, or rather capitalizes, EverGreenCoin correctly.

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/evergreencoin/

EDIT: Maybe "correct" or "incorrect" is wrong or too strong of a word. But I am trying to get all service provides on the same page so there may not be confusion.
