is the wallet sync not working only for me?

Try this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1317918.msg22006395#msg22006395

I had a problem that wallet did not remember added nodes. I created hodlcoin.conf and copied the list https://www.coinexchange.io/network/peers/HODL
addnode=173.212.225.176
addnode=84.193.219.191
addnode=91.112.41.147
addnode=188.109.2.125

etc...
to hodlcoin.conf. The location of hodlcoin.conf is found from debug log. Like
2017-09-23 16:37:07 Using config file C:\xxxxxxxxxxxxx\hodlcoin-3.0.1\hodlcoin.conf
or C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HOdlcoin\\hodlcoin.conf

Found the folder, but there's no hodlcoin.conf

You need to create hodlcoin.conf by using for example notepad. By default it's not created.

Worked, thanks!

A few thoughts here   the purposal by freetrade to increase block size is good   with the conjestion in other coins ,to be more appealling  to corporate ,organizational and scientific use  I think  a block size of 4 to 8 gb would aplace to start,
trying not to aleinate the small  hodler,like me        we need new  lingo  for the coin, nomore nuts,  we dont want to offend
 people such as bittrex   but squirrel is good     solo/pool mining  dosnt matter to me

I like the idea of active web page. Too many coins have a static web page. I would like to people see that we trying to help them. Guides and FAQs are important. I'm quite new to cryptocurrencies and I would have liked to see more info at web pages. Instead of centralized info I had hundreds of pages forum threads. Hodlcoin should be easy for beginners.

I was thinking about integrating pool mining to wallet but maybe guide how to start pool mining is better. Should we host our own pool?

I would love to hear the community opinion on this but my preference is no pool mining but solo mining only....

I'm afraid of that "solo mining only". When using pool you get coins everyday. I like to check my wallet every day and make deposits. Some how it is addicting and fun. Even if you don't have much CPU power you still get steady income. Even kids can mine some coins after school and see those coins in their wallets. No need to be mega miner if you don't want to. Easy to start.

My Monero wallet is much much more valuable than Hooldcoin wallet. I still prefer Hodlcoin. Monero is not interesting to mine. Payment thresholds are 0.3 - 1.0 XMR. This takes weeks or months. I should have got my 0.3 XMR (28$). I have not opened my Monero wallet since... I don't remenber. I demonstrated Hodlcoin to one of my friends. It was easy and he had some coins in his wallet in no time. Suprnova pool takes some time to configure. optiminer.pl is easier. I would like to see a GUI for hodlminer.exe.

Hodlcoin doesn't need Asics or GPUs. Basic CPU is enough so Hodlcoin should be easy enough for basic users.

Monero was profitable until it became popular , in the last 100 days the global hashrate doubled and the difficulty trippled, mostly due to Korea listing it on their exchange, when a coin becomes popular it attracts more miners, the global hashrate increases to a point where solominers wont be making much.. this is the normal lifecycle of all non-POS altcoins... And that is excluding the impact of botnets who essentially mine with stolen equipment.

To Disasterfaster and fishmaster, from a technical point of view the challenges of taking over hodlcoin are going to be:
- block explorer
- seed nodes
- Faucet site ( on testnet and mainnet ) to help new people ? there was a good one on mainnet.
- ability to built wallet for windows / linux / macosX , right now only Fuzz knows how to do it, using his computing resources. ( I only know how to build the linux wallet ).
- exchanges ( yes rebranding is needed ).
- more developers needed !!
   - technical topics needing to be discussed:
      1 - payement gateway , needed if you ever want to see light-wallet type apps use Hodl , look at existing api's see if we can integrate
      2 - Freetrade HIP002 proposal , https://medium.com/@freetrade68/hodlcoin-improvement-proposal-002-adf802d2ccb7
      3 - The size of the blockchain and the wallet load time ( for me its 5 mins ).
      4 - the automation , speed at which we can make new wallets / releases ( volunteer QA people )
- The official website with download links to official software
- Official youtube / twitter / slack channel or telegraph ?
And finally partnerships with like-minded projects.

Your right it needs a leader with fire in their belly , but it also needs a lot of time and energy  ,people forgot sometimes this isn't our main payed job Wink

So is HODL now officially abandoned by the dev and we are looking into a community takeover?

I still have some coins and even some that are locked and becoming available in the coming months...

  • block explorer - I can build and self host this at the new website no problem.
  • seed nodes - I currently have seed nodes running in San Francisco, London, Singapore and Kansas City so I see no issue taking care of this.
  • faucet site - I don't see a big issue with this and I would hope the community could donate up some coins for faucet(s).
  • ability to built wallet for windows / linux / macosX - I can do all of that compiling myself no problem there.
  • exchanges - I am already working on a new logo. I am willing to help fund new/additional exchange listings.
  • more developers needed - True that but honestly I think I can handle this and I do have in-house help.

1 - payment gateway , needed if you ever want to see light-wallet type apps use Hodl , look at existing api's see if we can integrate.

I agree on this and it would be a more medium to long range goal.

2 - Freetrade HIP002 proposal , https://medium.com/@freetrade68/hodlcoin-improvement-proposal-002-adf802d2ccb7

I think this would be an improvement and not really difficult to code.

3 - The size of the blockchain and the wallet load time ( for me its 5 mins ).

Another area for improvement and I would love to hear suggestions on how to best achieve this.

4 - the automation , speed at which we can make new wallets / releases ( volunteer QA people )

More help would sure be nice but I think things can be done quickly enough.

5 - The official website with download links to official software.

Once the logo is ready I can have the site up and running ready to go within about 2 weeks.

6- Official youtube / twitter / slack channel or telegraph ?

I would say YouTube is mandatory for a location for tutorial and marketing videos. Plus that I can market YouTube videos for about .06 USD per video view. Facebook would also be mandatory and there I can market videos for about .02 per view. Twitter is okay and can have a coin page there no problem. As far as slack/telegraph I am confident once you see the site I am going to build the coin site will have this function integrated. The new site will have community groups, live chat, discussion board, and blog.

Good to see you in here inputting. I know you've been very involved in this coin and I really hope you'll continue to be an active member of the community. Quick question, have you been getting paid to do coding work on the coin or did you donate this? Would you be interested in doing coding work going forward either donating your time or in exchange for pay?

Which version of the Wallet you have. Be sure, you have version 3.0.1

I took the nodes from here and put them into hodlcoin.conf: https://www.coinexchange.io/network/peers/HODL
And it is working.

Should work fine. At least I was able to sync it pretty fast after a break. Adding nodes may help much Smiley

By adding
connect=46.4.64.68
makes wallet always try to connect to defined node. (46.4.64.68 should be coinexchange.io's node). I connected to that node and now my IP is listed on the website.

Do you have active connections? You can see this in the right under corner (wifi logo)?
You already tested to start the wallet with -reindex? (Only if you have active connections)
