This is actually a great idea, and it allows creating full transparency that we apparently missed in Crypti.
Thanks to DAO voting, the process could be done quickly, and release milestones according to predefined schedule, pending team reaching said milestones.

Here is how the process works on Eth:

While there is no such mechanism in Crypti, we can actually use Eth for this, by creating a Lisk DAO entity on top of it, and having all Lisk investors receive a Lisk Dao token they could use for voting (or even trading?). This will allow leveraging Eth for a quick decision making process.

Moreover, it might even bring more investors as this model provides more transparency and influence, and also will have higher chance attracting Eth holders as it utilizes Eth advanced capability.


If Max and Olivier don't object to this transparent model of community voting for milestones release (as it done in EXP), I will look into this in more detail, and even give a try at coding the first version of the DAO contract.

I presume that with enough funding, Lisk could have such Dapp developed (with any core modifications needed to support it).
My suggestion at the moment to use Eth Dao is for Lisk itself specifically, to provide full transparency and community control over release milestones, which as Exp just illustrated, has the potential to attract more people than a regular ICO or premine.

Actually, now that we are talking I remember Max himself has suggested a similar model, by intending to launch Lisk in form of a Decentralized Startup (https://blog.lisk.io/lisk-a-new-approach-90f25a53dd59#.dh2w4o3zf).

So I presume he meant either DAO or a concept close to it, and using Eth DAO contracts could be a great solution to both launch Lisk itself, and learn from Eth for a future adoption to Lisk .

Thank you for your suggestion. However, we won't do this for several reasons.

- We won't use a 3rd party crypto-currency platform to host our own ICO. That's like Indiegogo would raise funds on Kickstarter.

- There are ~10 days left until the ICO, we couldn't finish the contract and properly test it anyway. I won't use something that is not 100% bomb-proof. We are talking about other people's money here, therefore I'm extremely cautious!

- We already planned how the ICO will work. Please wait until Saturday for more information.

I honestly think that a digital distribution can reach many more people (see Apple's App Store), than a brick and mortar shop. These real life shops are dying out and everything is going digital nowadays. Just take a look at Amazon and its huge potential.

Lisk is a platform to build decentralized applications. Developers can obviously rely on our community to use their dapps, but they should definitely search for users outside of the crypto-currency sector as well. We will support them as much as we can in this. However, our first goal is to get as many developers as possible into Lisk dapp development. With our strategic partnerships the distribution to a user base won't be a problem long-term.

Lisk main feature is the Dapp Store, therefore we have to build out our developer base in the beginning. Once this is done and we have a satisfying number of developers, we can start to market our platform to users.

Dude, if you're looking for an arena to be a hero protecting uninformed, wannabe rich idiots - altcoins probably ain't it.  

But if you insist, I'm sure there are other threads that might be a lot more applicable to what you are saying than this Lisk thread.  Max and Olivier have a long track record of good works at Crypti.  I for one am confident they will work even harder at Lisk.
