"We picked LISK as a starting point due to how it was designed to run Smart Contract, Dapps, and had an easy to use, nearly ubiquitous programming language as it's base, to have the widest possible audience to start with.

We are going to change the codebase to move away from Relational database as a backend, and use an object / document oriented database instead. This will enable flexibility in building Dapps data stores, since this style of database is traditionally schema-less.

We are also going to build in LetsEncrypt, to ensure all Nodes have SSL encrypted and Enforced, Nodes will be built automatically either utilizing docker or a shell script. (This is similar to what LISK does)

Additionally, we are going to be running consistent security audits on the entire infrastructure, utilizing a holistic approach to penetration testing that I have used in the past. We will combine black-box penetration testing with authenticated vulnerability scanning. This of course will include social engineering attack vectors to ensure that our network, infrastructure, and codebase remain clean. Of course, the community can help with the code base, as it will be kept current on github.

Initially, we will be running all delegates, and we will always maintain a total of 101 nodes with 101 delegates. After the ICO, we will also form the "Rise Vision" foundation - more details on it's structure will be to follow, but ultimately it's goal will be to steer RISE into the future.

Our biggest difference is we are not going to be a Code Only Application development platform. We will enable GUI based Smart Contract / Dapp development through our Web, Desktop, and possibly mobile applications."

Seems like Rise will have more/better features than Lisk?  Huh Shocked Man if I were a Lisk investor I'd not like the delay, now a copy cat comes along and took yerr gainz
many more clones to come. Rise may be the 2nd one but there will probably be more. So nothing to worry about.

Lisk v0.2.0 — Release Announcement

A few days ago we updated our testnet to the Lisk client v0.2.0, this release introduced a vast amount of optimisations, bug fixes and improvements to Lisk. It also was the first step towards a modular crypto-currency.

With Lisk v0.2.0 our current testnet begins from scratch. That means all current testnet delegates have to do all necessary steps from zero. They need to update their nodes, get 1000 LISK from our faucet and register a delegate account. Then they need to collect enough votes to get into the top 101.

Right now our genesis delegates are the only ones actively forging. Tomorrow we will slowly remove our votes from them, in order to let community delegates secure the testnet again.

Lisk v0.2.1 — Release Announcement

We have just updated our testnet to the latest Lisk client v0.2.1, this release fixes many bugs and regressions found during internal community testing of v0.2.0.

IPFS in April, is this already implemented?

No,

We have updated our launch roadmap a long time ago. Unfortunately, the database switch became necessary after we have updated the pre-launch roadmap, therefore it might take 2-3 weeks after launch to finish all front end points of it.

https://blog.lisk.io/pre-launch-development-plan-2691f91fe24e

On 1st June we will meet the IPFS guys and can directly see if their technology would work well with Lisk.

25 txs per block ? well ... what if there will be 1000s transactions per minute?

1000 tx cost about $10 at ICO prices and $100 at IOU prices in network fees. At this moment it takes about 7 minutes to resolve 1000 tx.

That means the network will be very busy for that time, but the attack becomes very expensive after a while. After the tx are all processed, we are back to normal. Smiley

Over the next months the LISK price goes up (attack becomes more expensive) and the maximum tx per block is higher. Resulting in an even more expensive attack.

E.g. if the price goes to 50ct per LISK and the block size will be increased to 100 tx per block, 1000 tx cost $50 and take 100 seconds to resolve. That means making the Lisk network unusable for 10 hours will cost someone $18000.

100 tx per block is by far not the end. More are definitely possible. We also might introduce the use of an optional higher fee or a split of tx per block (old and new ones). There are many possibilities here.

Higher fees, splits, or other tricks are obviously possible but not natural, imo. The best and most realiable are simple solutions with natural scaling possibilities, like changing block size with hardfork in Bitcoin (which unfortunately will not happen, as we know, in favor of complex and fancy segwit). Anyway, the above is the attack scenario, but what if the network will become very popular, and users will be just doing 1000s txs per minute on regular basis? Is this technology ready to naturally scale up to high tx volumes in next 4-5, or even 10 years?
