There is no way to control where bitcoin or any altcoin or even fiat is being spent at, if those would be possible mafia wouldnt exist, and several wars wouldnt have sponsorship to keep attacking countries and people.

It does not need to be controlled as long as it is not affecting bitcoin... because illegal things are done with every currency but those currencies don't become bad just because of that one bad use as they have more good uses in the world...

The problem though is that friend most of the currency like paypal can be traced if something suspicious is found, while in bitcoins you cannot found who is behind which transaction. But that been that's what makes bitcoins the best, they are untraceable and yet transparent and secure. So, let the wrong guys use it for illegal purpose, we should not CARE.

During the days of its existence people preferred bitcoin for illegal activities, also bitcoin's popularity increased due to the transparency got in the illegal usage without revealing identity. Now little by little people started to understand its potential and this has made it a better investment than a currency for illegal deals.

The bitcoin is used for criminal activities but this is not something that is very wrong because its logical and not something that is bad for the economy of it.

And its impossible to confidently say for any currency or asset that is not being used for illegal activities then why are we always blaming bitcoins only ?

They need to have a hot new topic to report on, and kids buying drugs on the internet is something that people will read.

If we started seeing this type of news on a consistent basis on more mainstream news outlets,

It's the corrupted media reporting about something that is happening with just ANY currency in this world. Trust me, the dollar is used way more in illegal transactions and nobody writes a report about it...

I really think that your thread really meant nothing because bitcoin is a currency and just like other currency like dollar or other fiat money that are mostly involve in illegal transaction and can be involve in some illegal organization bitcoin is just the same if apply to some illegal activities that is why it is really common sense on what would people do with their bitcoin.

As long it has a value  it would surely  being  used   on  illegal services and  transaction. as  you said   its up to people  decision on how they gonna handle this  things and  how they would  use  up their  money. I have saw only a few places where it was used as illegal and on a lot of places it is used for good and gambling is illegal in some places not in all countries so in those countries where gambling is legal we cannot say that people are doing illegal with bitcoin.

even china bans banks from using bitcoin only, not other than that in china. the places used as illegal is few just like Indonesia IIRC. nobody can intuitively state if people is using bitcoin illegally unless what anyone own was exposed to be illegal, to do that, you might even have to decrypt their data they have / had encrypted. in US i guess that bitcoin is taxable, but i don't really rich in that law since i am not in the US.

Yeah bitcoin work decentralized different with a normal fiat that can not decentralized. Also bitcoin is anonymously currency if someone using it, so i am totally agree if you said that hard to detect who using bitcoin for illegal activities.

And I must say here that paypal is being used for even more illegal activities and added to illegal its being used for scamming also. Any currency can be used for scamming or hacking just whats the best thing is "stay away from such people " and there is absolutely no need to care about them.

yes that is a fact that majority of good people are using bitcoin, although there will be so many people who may be using bitcoin for illegal activities, as people use Dollar and Euro for such kind of activities.

You are right because they own it so they will use it the way they want, I don't even see anything wrong. If they are not known to BTC they will use some other currency, maybe gold or something. So if guns are used for security they are also being used for killing innocent people.

If you for example buy yourself 1BTC from an exchange, and you withdraw it to your wallet, and spend it afterwards, the exchange where you verified yourself with your personal information, linked your information to that 1BTC.

While you have got the impression that you are anonymously buying weapons or drugs with that 1BTC, the exchange in question knows exactly where your coins are going

If the government forces your exchange to release all your information and logs, then the exchange will kindly cooperate and supply the government with everything they need.
