[IOTA] IOTA Speculation

Some news:

It was a bad decision to adopt address reuse, the scalability got a big negative impact and now I'm reverting this feature. Iota is designed for machines which can live without the address reuse, it's still possible to create a protocol on top of Iota messaging to support aliases for transfers though.

To add to this update:

We'll release a bare-bones UI without all the fancy animations and beautified icons, which will be extremely easy to use and nice, but not the final version, so that everyone can send/receive and experiment with IOTA in last stage of beta that we're entering now. This means everyone should prepare to begin testing, the more testing = the faster release.

Re: reverting decision on reusable addresses, just shows that we need to focus on the machine-2-machine nature of IOTA, not human use, which is why I am so negative towards all those begging for GUI instead of spending time on what matters: IOTA's IoT nature.

On the topic of Foundation: I see a lot of people want to pledge the proceeds from the 'Big deal' sales to the foundation. This is a great thing and I am very proud that we got such a forward thinking community that understand the importance of having continuous growth and active people ensuring future expansion of IOTA. If most of the pledged 'Big deal' proceeds go to the foundation I'll set the new limit on the Foundation to 30 million IOTA, instead of 50 million.

Other than that: There'll be big news will come soon about new partnerships, new website, professional video made and C# client in addition to our JAVA one.

IOTA boasts a revolutionary new blockchain design (a Tangle) which theoretically fixes many of the problems of the Bitcoin blockchain design (esp. scalability). The Tangle is ideally suited for IoT with no hard TPM caps or TX fees.

WAVES is unrelated to IOTA. IOTA is another ligue .

Thanks for the answer. When I am trading I see no problems personally. Im not that tech savy though. I am not convinced. I would have been interested to buy ICO and sell to everyone els at 30 times the price though   Good luck with the project.

No problem. Regarding Waves though, I dunno much except that the term "asset exchange" puts me to sleep faster than an episode of ITV's Poirot There are a lot of NXT clones/forks/whateverz and at first glance Waves appears to be in that camp.

The two have no overlap, you can't really compare them.

Waves looks like just another coin with asset exchange and blockchain. Nothing new, but could turn out well if marketed well.

Iota on the other hand is new tech. It targets a completely different business sector (IoT).
Decentralized transactions without fees is a worlds first, a tangle instead of a blockchain is new as well. It looks like a perfect fit for m2m nanopayments on a large scale.

Child_Harold and Cryptoknight, I noticed that both of you are making a lot of money selling your iotas but have not donated anything to the foundation. Don't you think it would be worthwhile to donate to the foundation so we can secure the future of iota and make sure the tokens you have left over will be worth more than if you didn't donate?

I think you have a great point. I have mentioned already in the past that I will definitely be donating to the foundation. I will be making my pledge in the near future.

If all you are interested in is 100% pure speculation, then for you there is no difference than Iota, Lisk, Waves, LTC, Lisk, IXC, Geistgeld, etc., etc., etc...

There are major, functional differences between Iota and practically everything else.  If you are looking to make a quick profit, then that's your call.  (I don't disrespect, nor have issue with that.)  However, if you are looking for a reason to invest in this so you can dump it on an exchange for profit, then you will have to read the forums, perceive how legit the hype is and make your own judgement.
