There isn't any crazy stuff in the Bible. There are only those who interpret some Bible things as crazy. They do it because they are the ones who are crazy, and interpret many other wonderful things as being crazy, as well.

You are ignoring most of the crazy shit in the Bible. A book on which you base your world view. I wish you Christians clean up your Bible, drop the vile BS and publish a new version. Ignoring the crazy stuff will not make them go away. The crazy shit is right there. Read the OP for verses.

Thomas Jefferson did that... it's called the Jefferson Bible https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_BibleThe Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, commonly referred to as the Jefferson Bible, was a book constructed by Thomas Jefferson in the later years of his life by cutting and pasting with a razor and glue numerous sections from the New Testament as extractions of the doctrine of Jesus. Jefferson's condensed composition is especially notable for its exclusion of all miracles by Jesus and most mentions of the supernatural, including sections of the four gospels which contain the Resurrection and most other miracles, and passages indicating Jesus was divine.

But God is so great, and eternity is so long, that we need even an ignoramus like you just to have a little company up there. So come and join us in Christianity, because it will be a lot worse for you in Hell.

The difference is people read the newspaper with a grain of salt... they don't think it was written by God...

Except that you don't know that it is not true. So your faith is in something else. Make the conscious decision to believe in God, so that you at least have the chance at eternal life. After all, you control enough of your faith that you can change it. And, by both accounts, your faith, and God-faith, you are damned. At least, if you turn to God faith, you have a chance.

If the newspaper said it was written by God, and you would go to hell for not believing every word they printed... would you believe that too?

This thread is hilarious. It didn't take long before the Christians started frothing at the mouth and wringing their hands over the topic title, and quickley blundered into the thread to defend themselves. This is understandable of course, and also where the amusement begins. In order to defend their guilt of saying crazy stuff as per topic title, they have no choice but to say crazy stuff to cover up the original accusation of saying crazy stuff. So in fact they have inadvertently handed us confirmation that they indeed do say crazy stuff. The wise Christians kept off the thread, the foolish ones posted.

Similar to telling a small lie, then having to tell a bigger lie to cover up the first lie... sooner or later you have a web of lies that only a great fool could believe

It is just religious stories, with more symbolic meanings, that help to guide people throughout life through morals and standards. Don't take it so literal or personally.

The Bible was written more than a hundred years ago. Thinking was just different back then so it's definitely a strange era. I do realize there are still people out there today that believe in the Bible. For all we know, the Bible could actually be speaking some truth. It's difficult to know what's real and what's not real sometimes, so I try to make sure I can just respect everyone's religious beliefs and move on from it. I myself knew if I ever had a religious belief, I wouldn't take too kindly to my beliefs being insulted and threatened. Everyone deserves respect for what they believe in. No matter how out of the ordinary it shall seem.

So you respect ISIS and their beliefs? No, I thought not. Respect has to be earned, not given out free whoever stamps their feet demanding it.

Yes, there is some crazy stuff in the Bible. However, I think that it's crazy for our world and wasn't something unusual at those times.
