Folks, please recognize that this sort of thing was necessary to help Bitcoin grow to the point it is now. Yeah today we can laugh at laszlo for spending what is NOW a few million dollars for two pizzas. At the time it was worth about $40, the going price for two delivered pizzas.
My main point is that he was selflessly spending his BTC to help further the Bitcoin economy, months before many of you ever even heard of it. Without people like him, Bitcoin would have never taken off like it has.
tl;dr: give him a break, will ya?

It's all good-natured ribbing. We're not serious about it. And yes, it's awesome that he did this, and without someone making that first purchase, it would never have taken off.

Thank you for your understanding. Not a problem. What I really want to know, though, is what the guy who sold the pizza did with the 10k BTC (and if he is now a millionaire from selling pizza).

That's over $1M now. Man, I'd be mad, sad, and everything in between.

It was, at the time, a very good deal. And if he had not bought that pizza, it might not be worth that much. In his place, I wouldn't be upset at all.

Wouldn't it be marvelous if, when we were born, we would come preloaded with Hindsight 2.0.

Amazingly, that's only about a factor of 100 away from being realistic. 10,000 uBTC (10,000 micro-bitcoins or "Mikes") is $25, which is nearly a pizza-ordering price. Somehow we forgot to celebrate by ordering a pizza for 10,000 mBTC (10,000 Millies) when that was still realistic. we'll catch up on the anniversary date - May 22nd as every year since 2011 no matter what exchange rate, just pizza for bitcoins and tribute to Laszlo's first real world tx for bitcoins this might be the nail that holds the hoof or what's the proper english idiom for such events the pizza is priceless, seed of confidence that bitcoins are worth anything after all and by the way i own some coins from that transaction with proof in the blockchain
