Green is nice but it is more related to : Environment, Organic food, American dollar.
Orange is the color of : Bitcoin, technology, warmth

Take into account that using idle computing power (Such as will be done with a system like elastic) means using this power which would otherwise be going to waste, for (mostly) good - creating something / research / progression / a forward movement - this is by all means green (environmentally speaking) and as such the green color may be more than suitable. In addition green symbolizes growth and this again is very much compatible with the principles of the project.
Other than that, blue has been used too much in logos to date, and although orange has some positive relevant connotations, i do believe that the green aspect of our soon to be working system is 1st in importance (also when considering the pr side of things).

Ok, So in case the idle power issue is not relevant I stand corrected. In this case, it will be less reasonable to try to pr the system as "green". Thus I would probably go with bitcoin orange as color.

Having known a bit of color psychology prior to voting, I used similar knowledge to vote for Orange. However, I agree with others here. I don't necessarily think Elastic should associate to Bitcoin through the use of orange, regardless of if it's intentional or not. Good alternatives to orange may include: Purple, Gold, White, Silver. I would not recommend green at all.

I dont think the logo is good. To chaotic, to many dots, not symetrical.

I'm withdrawing my design proposal. Design discussions always turn into bike-shedding. Everyone has an opinion, but no new concepts get put forward. Better to focus on the development. Sorry I derailed the discussion.
