What's the next project you're working on coralreefer?

I didn't mean to imply I'm moving to another crypto project.  My plan was to get a 3D printer and start playing around with that.

Ok cool, there is a crypto project going on right now called Printerium (PRX), they're doing the same. I bought a bag full. Good luck though.

XEL is well alive. SN ( Super Nodes) are being implemented to have a more perfect product. That's the reason for the delay. A new roadmap might emerge soon.

Hi EK, Could you please consider taking a vote on creating an " Elastic Foundation " funded by 5 to 10% from all participants. I think there is nothing wrong to get rewarded financially while contributing to science and technology. Even 5% of all XEL will be 5,000,000 XEL and it would serve to reward the developers ( yourself, Coralreefer, Daddy Unvoid,.....), will attract more devs to assist you guys , also PR, Bounties ( signature, translations, Facebook, Twitter.....).
Anyone agrees, or disagrees with this suggestion, please comment . Thank you all!

What is the significance of March 15? Mainnet launch? I haven't seen any talk of Mar. 15, but I also haven't been paying too close attention.

EK and other devs have put insane amounts of work into XEL. I personally would be on board with a 3%~ tax on all participants that goes toward the developers. This is the best charity work I've ever seen.

I personally agree that the devs who worked hard on this project should get some compensation for their work, and that funds for pr, bounties and other important functions need to be available as a form of foundation. For that reason I suggest there will be: 1) an address for donations to go to the foundation + 2) the ability to state before mainnet how much/if participant wishes to donate from his account at launch. You can not force anyone to donate a certain % of his holding, this should come from the intent and decision of each person if he chooses to do so. Some will choose to donate more and some less, that will be within the rights of each person individually and it should not be scrutinized or criticized.
I have no doubt that the foundation will collect enough funds from willing community members to achieve it's goals adequately.

I agree that the developers should be compensated for their work, thats why i will donate them some coins if the mainnet is life, But i think its not smart to build it in it always brings a bad fundamental to the coin
Think about Zcash and (dash can be considered aswell as they instamined) People might hate the coin for it. But we all just be thankfull and donate a nice amount to a created foundation that then can start some supernodes Wink

After all the hard work, I think it is only appropriate to give project developers a "Thank You percent" from the Elastic community/holders. Personally I agree to ANY percent in consensus. They deserve it.

EK stated a dozen times that he wants no funding and was quite annoyed by that discussion the last time we had it. I don't think it's very productive to bring it up every few weeks.

Yeah, keep it unregulated Tongue

Let them post their addresses if they want and who is willing can donate, period. With so many people advocating for a dev fee, there should be quite a lot of donations Wink

There is no need to put effort into this. All this will lead to is people bitching about it, "I didn't agree to this", "they steal my stash", "scam", blablabla.

You guys are good guys, aren't you? Why do you need others to tell you to do good stuff, then?

If this is EK's stance then I suppose the matter is settled. Personally, I hope he'll post a donations address at some point, as he deserves some sort of compensation. The guy is a trooper and a saint.

because you want to donate to people
feel free to donate to my BTC address 1EmjwR7EdxKQ9Ytk2Z6yjErh1UT4iznAUQ

now getting more serious:

I already proposted a 10% fund out of genesis a long time ago. We could control it through voting like dash doing it. Main idea is financing further developing and marketing. Current dev dont want to get paid

In order to have funding for a foundation, a btc (and future xel) donation account should be created to recieve donations. This should be under the control of several trusted willing members. Any funds raised can be used to compensate dev work, pay for pr and outrseach efforts, bounties, and so on. Regardless of anyone's self belief and opinion, a mandatory tax/fee can not be used forcefully upon any xel holders. Asking from people to publicly support or oppose such endeavor is just a means of shaming others to comply with your beliefs (and that is wrong). I am sorry if you do not like the idea of relying on the good faith and concent of others, but I believe it is the spirit of this project and the right thing to do to give holders the freedom to choose. Let us leave taxes for governments and such institutions. Elastic foundation will be funded, the extent of such funding is dependant on the amount each one wishes to donate of his own accord.
Sorry to participate in this discussion which brings money issues to light, but I do think it is neccessary.

There is nothing wrong with this discussion.  I personally think the community needs to come up with a plan to attract more developers.  Just because EK is not interested in being rewarded for his work, I think things will stall out if you don't bring in additional devs who can contribute.

Coralreefer is right.  We need to set up a foundation, ask for donations and start trying to attract some devs to this project or it's going to fizzle out.  Coralreefer is leaving, EK has said that he's going to leave as soon as he uploads something releasable, so if we don't have a foundation in place and funds to attract developers when that happens, we're screwed.

Currently we have no PR, no updated website, nothing except some code.

If EK turned round tomorrow and said "here's the code and I'm off", where would the project be?

We need to have a plan of action.
