Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price?

Most people complain about governments manipulating fiat currencies and now you want to do the same with Bitcoin? Shame on you, for even asking people to do this. Bitcoin should be immune against any form of manipulation. We should put Bitcoin in as many people's hands as possible to distribute the wealth and to prevent whales or groups of wealthy people to manipulate the price.

We should improve the failures of the previous currencies not profit from the new technology and create new wealthy individuals or groups, who has the power to manipulate your wealth, because they have enough money to do that.

I didn't say we should manipulate bitcoin,I said can we manipulate it's price and there's a difference in manipulating price and manipulating bitcoin which is not possible in any case.

I know there are many big players who manipulate bitcoin price and make huge profits but can we the bitcointalk members also form a cartel and let bitcoin price never fall?is it possible that we manipulate price as I am sure most of bitcoin users visit this forum

that is an interesting question. and i think the answer depends on how much money this "we" owns. bitcoin market is not longer a small market like 3-4 years ago it has grown so big that in order to manipulate it you would need a huge capital.
but don't underestimate the power of FUD and hype, it is sometimes so powerful that can change the price easily.

Yes, my mistake. Bitcoin and the price can both be manipulated with enough hashing power and consensus that can be bought with enough nodes. If a country or let's rather say a group of countries wants to dominate Bitcoin, they can invest a bunch of money into nodes and they can gather enough consensus to make crucial changes.

Money is power, and using that power to influence developers or the Bitcoin protocol are not totally impossible. Take Mike Hearn as a example.

Yes i agree for that if we have big hashpower we can manipulate the price as it self. And if you are holding big volume of bitcoin enough to dump we can surely minipulate it. But i think its very hard to happen now in this state because many miners are have low hash power now and people are saving big amounts if bitcoin and waiting for halving and i think the more they hord the more the price well rise it is the law if needs and demands and i think it is being manipulated now.

In terms of pure buying/selling power, I don't the Bitcointalk community stands a chance, they are way bigger players in the game at this point, maybe a few years back it might have been possible. However, if it was no holds barred campaign, we could maybe cause some disruption, after all we do have a small army of Bitcoiners here. We would still require a genius strategy, a very carefully planned social media campaign, a high degree of coordination within the group, a good number expert-level trolls and everyone should be ready to sacrifice the Bitcoins they hold at a moment's notice.
In other words no, I don't think the Bitcointalk community can manipulate the market 

After all we will need a lot of struggle and a lot of time to give it to manipulate the price, and no one knows that what would be happened in that time period, the whales outside from this forum are much more powerful and they can redirect any of our plan to their choice.

If you look deeply, you will know how bots are trading in most of the big exchangers are big players doesn't have much time to manipulate market manually so those are bots which manipulate market and make all manual traders to loss.

Yes, it is just impossible, these are only the bots on all of these exchanges which manipulate the price and make some profit for the owners for us on this forum it is much harder and I think not possible.

If you've ever seen a documentary on the stock market, bots do a majority of the trading and the manipulation, like you say. It requires incredible volumes and price differences to even have a shred of an impact on the market, and truthfully isn't worth your time.

If you have milions dollars,next mln to set up your mining farms to compete wtih chinise than yes

The average Bitcoin price, is not determined by a single exchange... for manipulation to happen, a collection of whales will have to act in unison on several exchanges in large volumes to shift the price.

I do not foresee this happening in the near future.. Most of these people are hoarding and making smaller purchases and trading in smaller volumes with reduced risk. A collection of smaller traders

will not have any significant impact on the price, even if they acted collectively. Simply leave Bitcoin to determine it's destiny with natural supply and demand.

Natural supply and demand is nice and all, but each market in the world is under the control of big boys with huge loads of money. I am sure if we left Bitcoin alone without whales interrupting to force us a high or low price that a lot people would be surprised of how low the price would be. This is also the case when it comes to gold, oil, stocks and such.

IF you think about it , large exchanges can easily manipulate the price with no loss attached to them for it ; with the volume they are having,
their fee is insane, and keeping that fee and profit in bitcoins each day in and out would slowly rise the price imho, and vice-versa.

And if you look on the chineese side, they can manipulate the price with their (in my own opinion) fake volume,price,trades - everything, but its
on other exchanges to accept to follow their price or not.

By what i learned so far, when price on btce , or bitstamp is the one that leads the price race, - then the real healthy rise is on the way.

Couldn't you make a smart contract for something like this?

Everyone contributes 1 btc into the pot...once the pot reaches a certain pre determined amount it will execute a buy for a certain amount. People get money back if the pot reach its given goal within a certain time frame.

We now can still manipulate the price indeed because its still not stable, I think at the end of this year it will change because of the halving.
A lot of people are also trying to manipulate the price by saying to people the bitcoin has not a good future at all.

We can manipulate it because the price is depends the demand of the people who buy it and sell it. Like in the market if you know the demand and supply they depend it there so we can manipulate it.

Yes i agree i believe that all of us can manipulate the price of bitcoin by our self because if we buy more bitcoins the price get higher and higher daily and if all of us dump the price will go down. Thats nature of bitcoin and the rich people can manipulated itself and i think someone is doing that ever since. And if we all buy bitcoin thw price well go up and surely we can earn by that.

Yeah we can somewhat manipulate the price but there have to be allot of people involved if many people buy Bitcoin then sure after that the price is going to change.

Manipulation is also done by high speculations, and many people keeps on speculating about the price of bitcoin, especially the big whales can surely manipulate the price of bitcoin.

Bitcoin can me manipulated for sure but it will be a high money involved at it,meaning to make the bitcoin price change around 5 dollars maybe you will need atleast 300000 dollars to try to pump it and make it stable,im not any expert on this area but with others altcoins is very easy and cheap to make the pump with bitcoin is a huge work and a high cost to make it happen and stands.

Maybe you are right, 'Whale' players who have many bitcoins can easily manipulate the price of bitcoin by selling or buying all their money into bitcoin, and it's make the price of bitcoin increase/decrease.
