Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price?

Only  china can manipulate with bitcoin.We cant I really dont understand how small amount of this forum users can manipulate with something big like bitcoin it is not possible because many users here are not interested in that.

but i think that now even china cannot manipulate the price of bitcoin. as the bitcoin users are now increasing throughout the world therefore it becoming more and more difficult to manipulate the price of bitcoin.

I have a strong feeling that some big exchanges do manipulate bitcoin price just like they do Altcoin price.
They have bulk of bitcoin to manipulate the price and even if they dont have, they can dictate the price as most people usually prefer to buy from them.

Big exchanges has nothing to do with the price increase, they just facilitate the trades and earn fees on it, that what they do. Only the whales has the capacity to manipulate the price to gain more profit by making a big dump which will lead to the weak hands to sell, that's re-occurring events and if you are smart enough, you know the trend and will buy cheap price as the next thing would happen is a price pump.

Wasn't investigation of Chinese exchanges: BTCC, Huobi and OKCoin, started to look into "possible market manipulation and unauthorized financing"?
I know that this is official statement from PBoC, but I am rather sure that exchanges, especially Chinese ones are somehow good at price manipulating.

The only thing I see about how we can manipulate Bitcoin price is to show more interest to it. Bitcoin became so sucessful and strong only cause of that and only that can provoke it's popularity to grow. Today Bitcoin started to appear more often on TV and professional economists are talking about it and governments are taking laws about bitcoin. Yup, it's a pretty good way. But to manipulate as we want it to be difficult for us to do so, because it's very transparent bitcoin and it will make a person will be easy to know the original. You don't need to own some bitcoins to be able to manipulate the price honestly. With the right ressources and connections you can do it quite easily. Not only with Bitcoin but the same apply to Altcoins, it can be just more easy with Altcoins... As well with some events like for exemple the Greek crisis, sometimes you can see a patern corresponding with the price of bitcoin...

Whales at bitcoin can and will manipulate anytime they wanna bitcoin, last year we had an example about those, early adopters has a word to say if they keep at bitcoin , since the most of them went rich with bitcoin, and others has changed their life. China has a huge number of holders as coin, besides the huge hash hosted at them, but the market need to support their pump or dump.

how is manipulating scamcoin related to manipulating bitcoin value? bitcoin will be harder and harder to manipulate if the value continue to increase, not because you need more money, but because a greater value mean that the distribution is better and there will be not few people with many coins that can manipulate the market

Right now there are serious doubts about that

We've been hearing that for years, namely, that the Chinese exchanges are manipulating prices as they like. The main reason for making such claims was that these exchanges didn't have trading fees. In January the PBoC launched an assault on the exchanges basically demanding them to introduce fees and limit margin trading. Prices went down but quickly rebounded. Then the PBoC forced these exchanges to disable Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals altogether (as well as deposits and withdrawals of other cryptocurrencies). The price went down somewhat but now it is going to break the highs set in December. So the question inevitably arises if the Chinese exchanges really have anything to do with the alleged price manipulation?

I agree as more people  getting a hand on bitcoin and whales holding being distributed to other people during their attempt of manipulation, it is getting harder and harder to manipulat Bitcoin for the reason that it is getting expensive  to do such thing.  Aside from that, traders are somehow developed immunity to some tricks this whales had been doing.

China has a big part in manipulating the bitcoin price. They can drive the price to whatever they want.
I think they will drive the price to get the ath and go down in an instant.

IMHO, the manipulation of price cannot be controlled by the government, what government is only after is the legitimate transaction to prevent money laundering, and we understand china has the most number of bitcoins therefore it's easy for them to manipulate the price in their favor.  That is my perception on the news I read in the community but that can be change as bitcoin continues to exist.

But they can influence it if they start creating laws that will have an effect on bitcoin. Like if countries start banning bitcoin, it will drastically drag the price down. Otherwise, if a country shows support to bitcoin, then it will push the price up.

The economic impact of such political decision will be short lived a t best, besides if a country decides to ban bitcoin, then it losses all the power of influencing bitcoin at all, those countries that choose to accept bitcoin will have more influence over bitcoin, because more business will move there to take advantage of the favorable environment.

Yes, when you can actually control the supply and demand then everything can you manipulation. but I'm not sure that anyone can manipulate the bitcoin, everything looks natural so that if there is a rise in demand due to it being up.

It has never been a secret and everyone knows it from the start. Only way to manipulate bitcoins is to have tons of money. You can pump the market by buying bitcoins. And you can decrease the price of bitcoin by selling tons of bitcoins. But that only increases/decreases the price of bitcoin momentarily.

The actual way that you can pump bitcoins in the long run is to talk to rich people and encourage them to invest in bitcoins. Bitcoins is a digital asset and investors are usually interested in this type of investment. Some people don't want to let their money sleep. Saving your money in the bank makes your money just sit there and never increase while in bitcoin, it'll increase as time pass by. You can tell that to interested investors or even to just an average joe as long as he's eager enough to learn bitcoins. You'd help in mass adoption, thus, increase the price of bitcoin. Maybe not right after you've recruited people but after a couple of years.
