Sorry newbie question. Someone offering me antminer s9 for bitcoin mining, is that worth for a newcomer like me to get started mining for the first time? Or better get a lot of vga for mining? I know a little bit about how the commands work on PC mining but don't know with the s9 . Thanks if anyone reply on this
How much is your electricity price? Also for starters you should know that S9 produces a lot of heat and noise. Quite expensive, considering the s9 cost a lot of electricity isn't it? How much db / Hz is it by the way? The seller could teach me a little bit, but better to ask first here so I won't be fooled at least when knew the truth.

Offering for free? Used? How many Th/s? How much do you pay for electricity? This thing consumes a lot of power, is very noisy and generates a lot of heat. Best to operate at low temperatures. Mine are at 18-20 celcius You can use this: cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/btc?HashingPower=3&HashingUnit=TH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=1250&CostPerkWh=0.1 If you have a space to run it and got it FOC, then fire it up (highly recommend joining CKpool: kano.is). If you paid for it, than you have to do the math about the profitably and your ROI

are you guys receiving S9s with only 1 temperature monitoring (Chip 2) instead of both (Chip 1 and Chip 2)?
Cost saving?

The electricity rates here around 12 cents to 20 cents per kwh, do you think it will makes sense?

I believe $0.10 kWh is about average. $0.20 kWh is pretty high if you want to get the most out of your mining equipment. Maybe you should look into colo.

Sounds more like this guy had a PSU problem to me. It's not recommended to use multiple PSUs on a miner.

I received two S9 with 13.5TH. The firmware version is : Fri Jul 21 05:15:25 EDT 2017 So i am not sure there is an update available and if yes with new feature... After, it's same firmware, but the Config.ini is different, one have bitmain_freq at 550 and other at 650. But both runs at 637 without problem. The fan on one model was very strange yesterday, but today after a reboot it's perfect, from Awesome miner, is stable, yesterday one increase to lower temperature and stop it (4600 > 6000 (1min) > 4600 (4min)) Another thing, it's possible to overclock or it's locked in the firmware ? the temperature seems to be good here, 69°C max for PCB (67/54/53 and 59/54/55). I used on kano pool for now. Don't know if it's better. I have not check consommation at the wall...

There have been a handful of reputable people now who have said they're legitimate. I'll be ordering from them soon, I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes.
Did you order? how it;s going?

speaks to the 'set-and-forget' ability of their equipment. If it runs fine for the first month, then it will almost certainly run smoothly forever. (As with most simple electronics)

Hi guys,
I have S9 bought in 03/2017 and the 7 hash board is turned off after switching on and does not blink the LED even at start or after. Do you have any experience with this? Several times she was dead after a restart but after resting (about 3 hours) or resetting to the factory setting it was OK again 1-2 months. Now it does not help. PSU OK, control board OK, data cable for hash plate also 100% OK. Nothing was burned, it did not smell and it was visually OK. Is there a hard reset, resetting error hash boards, etc?
Bitmain claims to send "the entire miner" for a warranty test and repair. S9 purchased before October 1, 2016 - just send a faulty hash board. S9 purchased after October 1, 2016 - send the entire miner. That's bad, I come up with all the performance (even good hash boards).
What are your experiences? And what about the S9 post-warranty service (even those new after October 1, 2016) is also sent to the entire miner?
Thanks for all!

Try contacting Bitmain warranty, they are servicing the miners. The failure rate on the S9 is very high, you need to find a good after warranty service.

I ordered an S9 13.5TH on 7/8/17 that was promised to ship between September 10-20. UPS says it will be delivered in the US Friday, 9/15. But don't recall when I saw the 14TH sale.

I just tried out the checkout precedure and I have to say it looks greatly like a scam.... No shipping? With intercontinental? And the S9 miner still only 1550$? Experience tells me if something sounds too good to be true it most of the time isn't
