In short term, one year or a few years I don't think so. In the long term, let's say 10, 20 or 50 years, we can't know what may happen. Things are changing very fast in Internet age and we have to adapt. Right now, I'm sure that Bitcoin is number one cryptocurrency but nobody can predict the future. Still, even if some other cryptocurrency become more popular than Bitcoin, I'm sure that still a lot people will use Bitcoin and will notz stop to do it overnight. It's like in the real world, where US dollar is number one currency, but other currencies, like Euro, GBP and other are also popular and used a lot.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
No, it won't be Monero... Since nothing lasts forever it is of course possible that Bitcoin will be replaced some day. The question is it likely to be replaced by another cryptocurrency or will it be replaced by an entirely new concept? I think if a new system replaces Bitcoin it must have highly significant advantages over Bitcoin that come close to the paradigm shift that Bitcoin represents compared to the existing fiat money system. The reason why I don't believe that Bitcoin is replaced easily by another cryptocurrency is its significant network effect that is the result of having the biggest user base. Bitcoin had a first mover advantage. That advantage can not be easily reversed. ya.ya.yo! the bitcoin cannot replaced by anything else becuase other crypto currencies are also used by people but i dont think they know allot about the other crypto tokens like bitcoins.

Despite of being an almost ideal concept, Bitcoin still has some flaws. The major one is the transaction time. There are cases when the transaction takes too much time to get confirmed to the extent that the other end thinks that he's being scammed. I know that it would come to the point that someone would think of a way for this to not happen. Maybe he'd create another coin with the same advantages as Bitcoin but has this new feature to attract more investors.

With the state of the cryptoworld right now and with the current level of bitcoin, I think bitcoin cannot be replaced even if this goes on another decade. Bitcoin is the strongest. No one can argue about that.

There are some possibilities that this will happen but if I look at the market now I do not see it happen. I think that the bitcoin stays the biggest and also the best with their high profits on terms.

No it's not possible because bitcoin is father of all cryptocurrency and when a new user hear about digital currency thrn bitcoin comes first. And you can see majority of the website accept bitcoin but not other coins. Abd also bitcoin is in top most position.
Yes bitcoin is the father, mother or boss of all other crypto-currency whatever you say.Just because of the success and popularity of bitcoin, all the other crypto-currency were created but no one can even compete with bitcoin,so replacing bitcoin just never can happen.

I really doubt this can happen, all the altcoins are compared against bitcoin value, if bitcoin dies several crypto will fail almost instant, sure some others may fight for the glory but in the end people will stop believing into crypto and start to left.

Yeap but Bitcoin have a lot of years, Ethereum is a new alt and have 1/10 of the marketcap compared to Bitcoin, I don't doubt a new good altcoin can take the primary price in the cryptos, we just need to wait.

For now it won't happen, but who knows in the future. One thing I can say, nothing stay as powerful forever. We know that strong hegemonic empires lasted for many centuries, but they collapsed in the end. The same thing can happen to BTC or any other currency, we just don't know when, but I believe we have many years yet of prosperity and richness with bitcoins.

People just follow the money trail. Nowadays Ethereum is a hot item where people can make good profits from, but after some time, another coin will pop up and take its place as being the hottest and most exciting coin. Hyped up coins come and go. It won't have any impact on Bitcoin.

They are just interest to gain their bitcoin. By this reason I do not think that bitcoin can be replaced by another crypto currency. If bitcoin die, people will not thrust with crypto currency anymore.

I don't think that this is going to happen as per because of bitcoin there would be no crypto currency in the world. And most of the alt coins are just depending on bitcoin. So for me, there is no way that another cryptocurrency will able to replace bitcoin in the scene. As people are more familiar with bitcoin. Instead bitcoin will replace the fiat money soon.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
I do not think that Bitcoin is going to be taken over by a other currency because Bitcoin is the most popular one so it would not make sense. It would make more sense if Bitcoin took over the other cryptocurrencies. I do not think that Bitcoin is going to be replaced by a other crypto currency because Bitcoin is the most popular one and the biggest one. It would be weird that Bitcoin would be taken over by a smaller one.
