Currently if you observe the situation in the country India, you can see people are replacing their existing currency to btc. They are paying 900$ for a btc. India has a huge population and if it's accepts btc I don't think it will be able to replace that easily. I yet haven't seen any good currency as a replacement, but this time I will be buying it when it's low, was getting btc at very low prices fee years back and lost a chance
the thing with india is that it is still a long way to go. we had some number here a while ago and it was something in the range of 20,000 people in india are using bitcoin. this seems low and by indias standards is just nothing. this might change a bit, but it will take long as this is a very long way to go.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Maybe the number is not lying, as Indians are yet not completely aware of it. They yet prefer shares, gold and silver as safe investments and for trading purposes. But if you see the chart of two weeks you will see a sudden rise of it. Like suddenly they are all awake. And it's crazy. If this craze catches India alone can keep the btc world alive, considereing it's huge population but that again requires a lot of awareness.

At least at this stage, that's very unlileky to happen. There's more than a thousand coins out there, and none of them is showing signs to be a replacement for Bitcoin. The closest in market capitalization, Ethereum, seems to have a lot of flaws, and most others have improvements that can be implemented in Bitcoin.
certainly a lot of coins in circulation today. but the strength of bitcoin is very large. very difficult to replace bitcoin. such as the US Dollar in the real world, bitcoin has a very great interest.

india could be a big steeping stone for bitcoin. but this is something that will not happen overnight and india will find a solution faster then bitcoin could spread. also bitcoin could possibly not handle the volume right know that india would bring if they would push for bitcoin in full force.

If you see the Indian market is behaving oddly, till few days back no one cared about Bitcoins and now suddenly it's demand has risen. It's selling for 900$. That to its just a fraction of the Indian market. Now imagine if 50% of the market jumped in, it will shoot btc price above the sky for sure.

There are many factors affecting the movement of bitcoin price. But, if this event in india is part of it, I am happy sice it is also good for us. India is also a big market indeed, second largest population next to China? If many people esp in india joins the bitcoin, the probability of replacing bitcoin ot another currency is low. but still possible Smiley

if you are with bitcoin for some time now, then you know this kind of story. somewhere in the world happens something and every bitcoiner is expecting the price to go through the roof. but nothing happens and we wait for the next breakthrough. in 4 weeks nobody will talk about india anymore.

We can not say that bitcoin was always on the top but we need to believed that bitcoin would gives us income everyday in our live and every time we collect bitcoin since bitcoin is on the top we need to take it advantage to earn more money.

We cannot speculate the bitcoin price it is volatile but bitcoin will be always top in among all crypto currencies and these much years other any digital coin beats the price of the bitcoin also then how can its potential can hit by other crypto currency.

Definitely, bitcoins will never be replace by any other cryptocurrencies. There's so many cryptocurrency in the market, i dont know if every when new crypto has born but i think every month or even a week new crypto was intoduce in different exchanger site. Even tgere's so many crypto out there no one has defeat the popularity of bitcoins. And now bitcoins was increasing its price day by day, so how can another crypto replace bitcoins.
yes that is a fact that bitcoin cannot be replace by any other currency, as bitcoin is one of the most popular crypto currency of the world and still its popularity is increasing day by day, therefore it is not possible that bitcoin will replace by any other currency.
in fact bitcoin is so strong and reliable currency that it cannot be replace by any other currency as it can adopt other currencies in it but bitcoin cannot be replace by any othe currency in near future.

Not really possible or even plausible as of the mean time since bitcoin seems to be having its stable time and people would still choose bitcoin over any other crypto any day. Also, since bitcoin has a lot of backing and only a few cryptocurrencies have a large backing on them and a nice community, I can't see how would those crypto overshadows what bitcoin has already accomplished.

Bitcoin might not be replaced by anything similar in concept - what I mean by that is another decentralized crypto.
But there is high chance of disturbing BTC market by project like national cryptocurrencies.
I have on mind recent idea of Chinese Government - they are currently hiring blockchain specialists to help them launch new cryptocurrency.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/chinas-central-bank-hires-blockchain-experts-to-launch-cryptocurrency

Well bitcoin achieved huge sucess because it were well made, since the begining and the core now just improve it, and has some questions to handle over the next years, but hasnt any influence neither being controled by just one single person. I dont know how sucessfull a new crypto coin with a team and control may achieve sucess, but its good for crypto world.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

I had read an article before about it. Something like "There’s an epic battle for the future of money, and the outcome is murky. It might have several winners. It might have no winners. But one thing is crystal clear: The most exciting battle in this long war is taking place in San Francisco, and the town isn’t big enough for both Ripple Labs and Stellar, two of the contenders hoping to replace not just Bitcoin but the almighty dollar."

So the possibility is always there just how bitcoin became boost something alike may also boost but still hoping that we can still enjoy what we still doing in bitcoin now may last for long as long as we want.
Currency wars are nothing new there were wars between the dollar and the pound, at the end the dollar won and claimed the throne of the top currency in the world, but the dollar has gotten weaker and now we see some attempts to try to grab that spot out of the dollar.

Well, Nothing is impossible. Maybe one day Bitcoin would crash/drop and another cryptocurrency would take the lead(but that's not most likely to happen at the moment, as Bitcoin being The King Of The Hill and other cryptocurrencies are far by miles from it!)

We may find the similar project in Canada, The Bank will be trying for making another concept, but the purpose will become the competitors for bitcoin soon.
Blockchain was becoming the double edge knife.

For my own point of view, there is nothing impossible but at the same time for other currency to actually replace Bitcoin will a long way to achieve because the actual level Bitcoin has gotten to now is not actually about the developers or the coders who knows how to develop coins but the majority of people who are actually novice in the areas of core crypto that invested alot into the project and gave its the popularity its enjoying today to actually convince those people again by any coin is actually really going to be a "long walk to freedom".

I agree, atleast now no crypto currency is even near as succesfull as bitcoin is. The first time i heard of bitcoin, I didn't even know that there's some other cryto curriencys as bitcoin. I believe that's becouse media is mostly posting about Bitcoin.
You must understand that the reason the media is focusing almost exclusively in bitcoin is not only because bitcoin is the crypto with the greatest volume, the reason is that the average person will most likely flock to the most known of all the cryptos and without a doubt that is bitcoin, that is why they keep the misinformation campaign against bitcoin so the average people are afraid to use it.

I agree, atleast now no crypto currency is even near as succesfull as bitcoin is. The first time i heard of bitcoin, I didn't even know that there's some other cryto curriencys as bitcoin. I believe that's becouse media is mostly posting about Bitcoin.
You must understand that the reason the media is focusing almost exclusively in bitcoin is not only because bitcoin is the crypto with the greatest volume, the reason is that the average person will most likely flock to the most known of all the cryptos and without a doubt that is bitcoin, that is why they keep the misinformation campaign against bitcoin so the average people are afraid to use it.
that right, many people afraid use bitcoin only know information bitcoin is used to illegal activities. but I think is wrong because bitcoin can use to legal activities in daily life. I think for now bitcoin is not easy to be replaced because the price is going up and still stable.

Well, Nothing is impossible. Maybe one day Bitcoin would crash/drop and another cryptocurrency would take the lead(but that's not most likely to happen at the moment, as Bitcoin being The King Of The Hill and other cryptocurrencies are far by miles from it!)
Currently bitcoin looks perfect, but future day there will be can hack by hackers. If bitcoin still profitable, let us use it wisely.

We cannot prevent that, the least we can do is to be very careful with our information and upgrade our security of our wallet. Treat our bitcoin preciously as it's our investment and might give us a wonderful future.

bitcoin is popular but its possible that any other cryptocurrency replaces bitcoin it can be by yhe price or by other factors. no matter what it is but we know bitcoin is going ro gather a lot more popularity when all the 21bitcoins will be mined

Do you really think that another crypto currency will come and survive for so many years like bitcoin and gain a price and popularity like bitcoin and then it will replace bitcoin? That does not seem to be happening, bitcoin has almost everything a person might want from a crypto currency so i don't see any reason bitcoin getting replaced.
yeah while another crypto growing , bitcoin itself growing faster
it's pretty clear that bitcoin is mother of crypto currency
now it's like 'can you be a parent of your mother' ?
just think about it , bitcoin is too big , too popular .

While bitcoin is growing faster, this is making other crypto currency growing fast too. But this will be hard for those other crypto's that doesn't have equivalent popularity with bitcoin. As bitcoin is the most well known crypto so this is very impossible thing for another crypto to replace what is being experienced by bitcoin today.
there is a lot of facts that another cryptocurrency cannot achieve
first the bitcoin ecosystems have been more established more than any other crypto currency
then bitcoin popularity hard to beat, required a long time to build popularity
end of wods bitcoin is irreplaceable at least for now.
