Cryptsy API link is down somehow?

Well my automated cryptsy bot is working, so can't be a generic API failure...

Is it just me or have all cryptsy based coins disappeared? There are no coins with best price at cryptsy and some coins like Meme and Florin are missing straight out from the LTC trade.

Hmmmm...perhaps the domain changed again?  I will look.

Is it an error that zetacoins are 4 times higher profitability today? Where can such jump come from? Can the difficulty drop? But i always see miners mine zetacoin so i doubt they all hop out.
Someone knows?

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Coins E market depth being so low has really messed with the prices now cryptsy api has gone awol, eg DMD at 0.00000035 when the highest buy is 0.00082506
and ANC at 0.00000064 when the highest buy is 0.00104001

they have a fast retarget (every 4 blocks)

There is a lot of coin hopping going on right now.

Let's consider a scenario where a coin has a 1 minute block timer with a 60 block difficulty retarget interval. The coin has a difficulty that reflects its average hash rate - let's say the hash rate of the dev team and some followers has been 30 MH/s for the past few hours. Suddenly, 200 MH/s point towards that coin. Blocks are found in seconds rather than in a minute, and the retarget happens much sooner than anticipated. After one more retarget (depending on the retarget equation, which sometimes limits to what extreme the difficulty can go up or down), the difficulty will adjust to match the new average of 230 MH/s on the network. The miner with 200 MH/s immediately finds another coin with a low difficulty to mine, leaving the "dedicated" but smaller 30 MH/s miners to deal with a high difficulty value. It could be 4 or 5 hours until the next retarget as a result. This wild fluctuation also seems to cause litecoind's estimation of network hashrates to be inaccurate.

Miners with significant enough hashrate end up causing this cycle of difficulty across popular alt chains. There is an opportunity: if someone could track all of the block heights of every alt coin, it would be possible to predict which coin will be the next most profitable coin by observing when the coin is coming out of this cycle, and pointing miners at that coin right before the difficulty retargets to a much lower value. This would mean an advantage of several minutes which could result in a huge increase in blocks found while other miners have just detected a change in difficulty and are slowly starting to switch.

I wouldn't be surprised if one or two people are already doing this, but it does involve a bit of work gathering knowledge about every alt coin and its difficulty retarget interval. It also requires knowledge of the average hashrate during the period of high difficulty/low hashrate which happens when a powerful miner abandons a coin after spiking its difficulty.

Theoretically it is possible to examine the hashrate of every coin to determine when a significant mining operation switches efforts to a new coin. Using that knowledge it would be possible to mine other coins with similar profitability without causing a huge spike in difficulty for one coin.

Glad Someone Else Noticed that... I thought it might have been Coinchoose's Fault but poss not... Wish coin choose would only quote from markets that have ACTUAL VOLUME and TRADES within the last 24HOURS and would set a ban on accepting data from secondary markets.  Seems Cryptsy is the best market for these Alt coins.

Coins-E IS CRAP (and Coin-EX is Worse) NO ONE TRADES THERE!!!  thus market quotes CANNOT be trusted from those exchanges  - digeros

Still no Cryptsy for me. It would be nice to have a choice to choose the exchange platform. I trust only Cryptsy and BTCE and Bter. Others have too low volumes.

My quotes are based on currently open trades to a depth of .1 BTC.  Maybe I should set a deeper depth?

Open to thoughts.

I think my isuse with cryptsy is I am too rabid about pricing update timing and minor hiccups with Cryptsy impact my site.  I just need to fix that.  Coinwarz looks to not care as much about stale data.

I'll contact Cryptsy tonight to make sure I am not accessing or being blocked.

Fixed Cryptsy by making my API request a bit more robust (long timeouts, in effect).

Still working on the "select my own exchange" code.

Any plans to disable Noirbits.   I read somewhere it was forked 4 times (it has 4 different blockchains).   I mined the entire day today at miners-united.com and did not get one damn coin deposited to my Crypsy account.   I was sending 4 GHs for 4 hours straight.

It switches to the best price.  Cryptsy was having issues, but all should be good.
