Some of the numbers are waaay off... (For cryptsy) One of note is CAP, which seems to be using ARG's values... Not sure which others are incorrect. Cap is reporting as 0.00001778, when it is, and has been 0.00002778 for hours and hours. (Seems to match ARG's values though. So I assume it is an ID mixup for the charts. Might want to double-check all the ID's. CAP's ID is 53 on cryptsy. The numbers report fine through API, both buy and sell values. The reported number for value isn't even between the two values.) Was reporting fine a few days ago... Might have just been coincidence. (Pun intended.) Numbers at the moment are 0.00001955 (Which is ARG, not CAP, which is 0.00002920... Unless you are off by 0.00001 for some reason, on purpose...) How are you figuring out what the price should be? Remember - I do not use the last the last trade value and do not take an average between buy and sell. I do use the API to get the values, but sum up open orders that would allow the given currency to be converted into the base to a set depth. I just eyeballed one of the calcs (Diamond) and it appears accurate.

CAP also, based on looking at the open orders and how I would sum them to get to the necessary depth, looks accurately calculated.

CAP also, based on looking at the open orders and how I would sum them to get to the necessary depth, looks accurately calculated. (You never calculate on open-orders... that is potential only. Bots don't list what they actually have to sell, or even real prices. They use probes to "feel the market". You have to look at actual "sold values". The API gives you averages and highs and lows and opens and closes... Though I am not sure why any of those values are not used.) Well, the value of 0.00001500, which it just was, wasn't even a low, or a volume average, or even a sale... Even using the last 10K sell volume price and 10K buy volume price, averaged out to 20k price, would not come close to the numbers that the website is reporting, (on coin-choose). Coin-warz has the averages correct. Seems like it is taking the averages of the lows, which is hardly fair or accurate, for determining value for miners. Though, for miners, they are more interested in the BUY price more than the SELL, if they cash-out instantly. But not the lowest BUY, which bots manipulate to get coins cheap, to sell higher. Eg, there was one spike at 0.00001000 with only 18,000 coins (all that guys listings). Surrounded by over 100,000 sales over 0.00002500... That hardly averages to 0.00001500. That was one sale of 0.00001000 (his), and all his listings which were all above that value. (I have been watching it all day, the last few days. ) In any event. It doesn't seem like many people are using that site for the actual values anyways. So I am working on one that does a little more in-depth value. (Those who do use that site, now I know why they never get what they think they should be getting. ) For them, it may be fine, but for actual relationship value, it isn't helping anyone other than the coins it estimates wrong, in favor of.

I debated what price to use and how I would calculate it many many times. I decided to use just the appropriate orders on Cryptsy that sell the alt for BTC / LTC since they represent the immediate translation to the base currency. In addition, by using open orders I reflect what the current market is and not make some hypothetical judgment on where the market will be. In addition, I look to a certain depth to prevent what I saw as market manipulation by people placing high orders to skew prices. This may tilt the profitability numbers downward compared to sites like Coin-Warz, but I feel this is a good thing as an overestimation is more problematic. In addition, based on all the fast comments I get when my profitability is a percentage too high - I'd much rather look at a lower profitability. Besides - my data is based on the current snapshot of data. If you theoretically could mine the coin instantaneous, you'd only have the open orders to deal with. I am happy to PM you my simple PHP code that does the pricing calculation. I just verified that it is working as designed.

No, I have no interest in that code. (But thank-you for the offer.) I test the market directly, to see what coins sell for, when in doubt. However, there are two values, not just one. Every "sell" has been purchased, and every "buy" has been purchased. Listings of "hope to sell" or "hope to buy" prices are just that... Hopes and dreams. (Except for bots, who only list 10-300 coins at a time, though they are buying/selling 100,000 coins. They are smart not listing them all at once, however, they have time to list and relist... humans, who buy, don't want to buy 10 coins and 200 coins. That is why every listing for 2000+ gets sold/purchased.
Only stores/shops care about "immediate disposal" for exchange to dollars. Thus the calculations based only off "selling for" prices that are listed. Even without those, shops won't use the coins, because that makes it look like it takes millions of coins to make a single purchase, which is below any "real value". (Value being actually traded.)
But that is useless to what this coin needs anyways. Calculations are just perceptions of reality. What it needs is reality, not perceptions.
Active trading now seems around 0.00002600, and climbing, slowly.

Understood. If you have a mathematical formula that can be used to figure out a true actual price to convert a given alt crypto currency into a base currency and such formula is not subject to currency manipulators placing high orders, I welcome looking at it and maybe adding a second profitability calculation.

Can you add Tagcoin to the list on the site...it's been up on coinwarz.com for a while, often at the top of the list, depends on how many miners pile in when the diff gets lower - difficulty is averaging about 50 at the moment, price around 30 to 40 cents, traded on 5 exchanges and about 8 pools.. - Launch of the coin was 2 weeks ago. Blockexplorer at the moment is at http://florinexchange.com/tagexplorer/Is there an APIable blockexplorer?

@sal002 - No API able block explorer yet, although we will create one. Coinwarz lists the coin, they said they just take the total coins mined and use that to work out pricing profitability. Someone in the community created the block explorer for us at the beginning, and he is givnig us the code and db for it within a few days so at that point we can create an API for it. What info do you need?. Total coins, diff, what else?

Sal, would you update PXC at Coinchoose finally? The name spelling (Phoenixcoin) and logo as well as block reward which is 50 PXC now vs. 25 PXC before the last hard fork. It is also traded to LTC at Cryptsy, so it can be listed at the LTC Profitability charts, too. You need to upgrade your daemon to v0.6.5.0 if you haven't updated already.

Sorry - there are so many coins unless the coin owners tell me I can't be expected to keep each coin up-to-date at all times and know every little change. I just updated it, but next time there is a drastic change like this, I would appreciate a PM or a post here instead of a "would you update finally?". Thank you.

No offence, but I've PM'ed you earlier with an update request. You haven't responded. Hope our communication will be better in the future.

I tried upgrading but the new client is crashing on my server (uses high CPU and claims to be running but never responds to any commands). Until I can figure out the reason, the coin won't appear. I am working on it, but if you have a public block explorer with an API I'd much rather use that.

Sal, I would appreciate if you replace the PXC icon with this one and add PXC to your LTC Profitability table using the Cryptsy API. Thank you. I do not believe the Cryptsy API that I am using for LTC is showing PXC. I understand this was an earlier issue and will see if there was a fix yet as the API was only doing one coin at a time. I automatically pull everything from Cryptsy so it will appear as soon as the API returns the value. I had already updated your icon, but it takes sometime for the CDN to replace the image (and also the image is cached in your browser as well).

Doubling back - this is the API call I use from Cryptsy - http://pubapi.cryptsy.com/api.php?method=orderdata. As you can see, PXC only is listed for its BTC trade data, not LTC. I think the API isn't set-up properly to show currencies that are traded in both markets.
