Is the DDOS part of an attack to steal bitcoins like what hit mtgox?

Bitbook.biz...please verify that the bitcoins are all safe and have not been stolen?

I know soemone that logged in this morning and they saw there funds. And bitbook made the back up site  after that, so bitbook must have seen the funds in there just waiting on them come back on hopefully soon! Plus they would never store all the funds on the site anyway, no one does anymore.

I would think if they had plans to run with the btc they wouldnt have bothered to come here and say they were being DDos and to be patient.  I am also 100% sure i saw my funds in their entirety, being a "newbie" notwithstanding.  So take that for what you want.

The funds aren't kept in the BTC Address we deposit them too.  

Instead, once we deposit, our account is "credited" with numbers representing how many bitcoin we "own" in the system's larger pool of Bitcoin.  

Let's say hypothetically all of BitBook's funds in that main pool were stolen in the attack (I hope not), then our account balances would still remain the same as those are only credits, not the physical coins.

Even if BB ran with all the coins (very unlikely IMO), the acct balances would remain.  It's meaningless without anything in the site's withdrawable wallet.

On the other hand, if it is just a regular DDoS attack not associated with TX Malleability, then our coin are probably safe and the account balances that were seen during the back-up site reflect how much we will all hopefully be getting back soon.

If they verify payments using tx id then yes it is possible.  This attack would come with a ddos although I'm not sure that's what happend here.  No, not all sites store them in cold storage. ie. SilkRoad 2, mt gox.

Hey guys it's not looking too good here, to me. I just won 15 BTC in a parlay right before it shutdown.

Then, when the site reappeared (bitbook.biz posted the IP URL on here yesterday) my funds (~18BTC) were still in my account! I quickly hit withdraw and I saw the deposit/withdraw screen confirm that the BTC had been sent! Unfortunately, it never came thru.

This can be interpreted in 2 different ways...

1. Our coins are gone already(Since they weren't available for immediate withdraw)

2. Our coins were never vulnerable in the first place

Your thoughts?

That's great, but there still is no practical reason to keep a large roll anywhere other then your personal wallet.  You can deposit around the clock and withdraw around the clock also.  With fiat sites I understand, because it's a hassle to cash out, deposit the check, reload your account when you get short.  But with bitcoin everything is instant or pretty close so you can protect yourself way better.

Anyway, I was mainly talking to the guy whose saying his entire roll was on one site.

Well... you know...  in retrospect, yeah.

I will say that I'm quite lucky with the amount that I lost... Assuming that ran off with my btc, it was a nominal amount, despite that it was all that I had.

I've basically already moved on with Cloudbet... which is not as user-friendly as bitbook was, but I'm going to cash out daily just to be safe this time.

I really hope bitbook did not run off with the btc I have been with them for so long I have alot of btc in there !! They have had problems before tho and came back so lets pray lll
