I am getting a server provided error page at bitbook.biz atleast now instead of a browser provided one.. Hopefully a good sign :S

Really? The attack must be ongoing becaues I still get the browser error.

Interesting, I am back to getting the browser error aswell. I refreshed a few times and got a server error page that showed me connected to the internet -> connected to "CloudFlare in Newark"? -> then a failed connection to "Webhost". I will screen shot if I see it again!

CloudFare is a sort of attack prevention service so that is a good sign.  Looks like they are at least working to combat this seemingly on-going attack.

Check it out: www.cloudfare.com

Hopefully they are trying to imlement a solution!

Would you mind explaining in very simple terms what a DDoS attack is, who would possibly be doing it, and why?

We are still working on a solution. We are not running off with user balances - which are all safe, in cold storage. We appreciate everyone's patience.

Thank you!

@BitChaser

A DDoS attack is short for a denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS).  It's just an attempt to deny service/access to a server or website by flooding the site with lots and lots and lots of spam traffic.

Could be caused by a competitor site.

Thank you for this. Basically just constant pinging the server? Must be something pretty simple to do since it happens so much. Is it one person running it from a computer, or a server, or a botnet or a shit ton of assholes with the same goal in mind? Is this similar to the Low Orbit Ion Cannon or w/e I read about LuLz using?

It's not simple for the layman user.  Could be one person running enough botnets to get it done or it could be a group of people running millions of botnet to guarantee closure. DDoS protection is a huge business these days. If it's not a competitor then it is someone trying to blackmail the owners.

"Pay us X amount of BTC and we will allow your site to resume"

This is very common among gambling sites because the attackers know they have the money.  Probably most likely scenario now that I think about it.

Also, yes it is similar to LuLz LOIC.

Guys, I need to make some plays today.  Lots of value on the board tonight.

Where are the other (reliable enough for 1 day) btc sports books in the mean time?

If your in great need, I would advise you go with Nitrogen - they're pretty good (usually better than here since BB deviated from Pinnacle lines) and the deposit/withdraw mechanism is instant.

Nitrogen has great lines and options and is really easy to use, but limits might be low depending on how much you bet. Casinobitcoin has higher limits but not as many options on less popular sports and it's pretty painful to use.

Bitbook is by far my favorite... unfortunately.

We are slowly bringing BitBook back at http://bitbook.biz. For now there are a few important points to note:

- Blockchain sync is in progress so deposits and withdraws will be delayed for at least 6 hours. You can request them now and they will be queued.
- Automatic Withdraws are currently disabled. Please allow up to 24 hours for withdraws to be processed. We are moving funds slowly out of cold storage.
- We are using a new bitcoin wallet so only send funds to fresh deposit addresses.

Thank you all for your patience and support in this time.
