Hi. I'm not Herb.

Or, rather: Hi, I'm ImNotHerb.
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Hey!

I'd really like to reply to another thread, but apparently I can only post here first... darn.

But I don't have anything useful to post here. I read on the newbies restrictions thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15958.0) that I can't post outside of here until I've posted 5 times. It seems like this encourages newbie spam to me, what do I have to post about 5 times in the newbie thread? Nothing...

I'd like to post on this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133050.new

Darn...

Introducing myself here...longtime open source advocate, cypherpunk from back in the 90s, day job is consulting on software radio projects and release manager for the GNU Radio digital signal processing library.

I've been a lurker for a while and have watched bitcoin with interest since 2011.  This last summer I decided to take a closer look and have read the original Satoshi paper, compiled and run bitcoind from source, played with mining (p2pool) a bit, made vanity addresses, created offline wallets, and read through a lot of existing threads here to come up to speed.

My technical interest is in the possibilities inherent in more advanced transactions as described in the Contracts wiki page such as smart property, as well as coin mixing and techniques for enhancing the anonymity and fungibility of bitcoins.

Another area of interest is in developing (if possible) distributed forms of financial services using the blockchain that are currently still handled by centralized sites such as stock offerings, loans with collateral, call and put options, futures and forward contracts, prediction markets, etc.

I'm looking forward to joining the community.

Yes.  That one took the better part of two days to generate, but I figure it's a rite of passage Smiley

Hi everyone,
I've been using bitcoin for a while to buy VPN access and things like that.
I tried mining a couple of times but with no supported GPU and an old slow machine it just wasn't worth the effort.

Hello everyone!
I'm Melkor, experienced trader of steam community game platform and its virtual items.
I'm looking for to use Bitcoins to resell my virtual game items and get more in this wonderful bitcoin mining and trading or w/e to call it.
On these forums the only person I know is DandoRealIta who also sells the items: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55775.0
I'm glad that I've joined and I hope to see you around. By the way I am coming from Czech Republic. That's all I guess.

Its sad seeing all the people marked scammer on the first page... Probably 70% of the people here turn out to be scammers.
