That is the same scenario I think I have, except I'm on a Z97 chipset

Hrmm... ethpool is at 90% luck, down from 93% earlier today.  Where else do people mine?  I may need to divide and conquer my rigs.

There's been about a 10% spread between network difficulty and pool payout since I've been (unofficially) tracking it.

My Asrock z170 extreme 3. Has 3 full slots and 1 riser.

I was running three full slots so I moved the fifth card from the h81 into the z170 and boom it worked.  So I have 20 gpus on five rigs all  have four cards.

When I get more time I will try to get the Fifth card to work on the h81.

Very happy with the five boards running 20 cards.

I am around 440 for the 20 cards .

I have one board at the solar array.

And four in my garage.

I think I will move a total of two boards to the array and keep three at home.

@ LoneRanger  pool luck is down but my uncle luck has been unreal.

You're right. I forgot about that. It's a nice kicker. I finally got one my last block. I need to consider that.

I would like to thank Phil, Iegion and xleejohnx for helping get this far! THANK YOU!

Situation:

I have 6 MSI RX 470X GPUs running:
-each gpu hashing  = 23.5mh
-total system hashing  = 141.2mh
-ave wattage = 94W (range 86-104)
-total system Watts = 1115W
-total system Amps = 9.61A
-2 Antec 750 Platinum PSUs
-Motherboard = MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Question:

I am planning to goto 28mh on each gpu.

1) Would you recommend adding another gpu?

2) How many watts would going from 23.5 to 28mh add to the system?

3) Has anyone done 7 gpu's?

6 x 470 with 1000w or 1300w PSU should do it, avoiding using 2 x PSU which can introduce more complicated issues with power distribution.

Adding a 7th card will surely increase wattage and you motherboard will need to have more than 6 x PCI slots, unless using a multiplexor

I have a R7 370 x 7 using a 1-to-3 PCI multiplexor, running Win7, running strong with CDM v7.2, Crimson 16.9.2, drawing about 1200w from a EVGA 1600-G2.

7 x GPUs max on Windows, 8 x GPUs if using registry modded Windows Advanced Server, otherwise Linux can go beyond 6 with ease.

To increase hash.... if you adventurous ... you can mod your rom ... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1584617.msg16476759#msg16476759

I've got 7 going right now on the msi gaming 5. You need a 16x to 16x riser for the main pcie port and windows 10.

Its a mixed GPU rig: 4 msi 4g 470s at 27.5mh, one 370, one 380, and a 1070.

Wow, that is a crazy rig!  How many watts are your 470s pulling at 27.5mh?  How did you get them to 27.5mh?  What is your "at the wall" wattage?

I just ran out an bought another gpu.  That makes 7 gpu's on 1 rig.  The rig will only start with 6 gpu's!  What can I do to get the 7th running?
Note:  I can disconnect any of the gpus and the rig will start just fine, but when I plug in the 7th, it will not start.

Any ideas to get all 7 gpu's to work with this rig?

funny i am trying to bump a 4 card to a 5 card. and one card is fucking around.

as for a 7 card no way will i try it.

7 cards is a gamble imo. Sometimes it'll work first then sometimes never
What issue are you having Phil?  Maybe I can help
okay an asrock h81 with 1 4gb stick of ram.  runs four cards great.

add a fifth card and only four drivers load I get error 43.

every card works in the full slot as the 1 and only card
every card works in the 1x riser slots 1 at a time.

all combos of 1x riser work up to four cards on the fifth card fuck you bitch and it won't load.

so with all testing i did I am pretty certain all five of my riser boards are good

I am pretty sure all five cards are good

i am pretty sure the 16 slot  is good.

I run windows 7 pro.  so has anyone got windows 7 to run 5 boards. on a h81.?

and maybe  need a simple mobo setting.

windows 7 amd driver doesnt support more than 4 amd cards i always forget you run windows 7

Okay. Since I have the card and now all five boards are 4 cards.

I am capped at 20 cards.

Unless I add to my 3 card asus z170 empty mobo that has everything but gpus.

Since the garage is overheated right now I will do no builds until I shift gear to the solar array.

I have 7 x 370s on Asrock H81 Pro BTC, the last PCI slot with a 3-to-1 PCI multiplexor.

First 5 slots with PCI-USB3 risers and the multiplexor can handle 3 slots, which only 2 is used.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-1-to-3-PCI-express-1X-slots-Riser-Card-PCIe-x1-to-external-3/32292624969.html

I am using Win7 and it can drive 7 cards. Windows Advance Server with some registry hack can do 8 x GPUs.

From the Ethereum forum, a dude shared with me that he got 8 working on Ubuntu.

Note: Powered molex on the mobo and also powered USB risers needed to make it work. Rig working very stable for months now after changing the PSU from 1300w to 1600w EVGA-G2.

In progress actually.
I have 6 x 480 on W10 that I will be attempting to convert to 8 x 480 using 1600w PSU and Ubuntu Linux 14.04
The 6x480 rig is modded with Heliox 29MHslowpower rom and just over 1100w on W10.
I am waiting for the PCI multiplexor to arrive,  2 x 480s have already arrived.
I hope the Linux build stablize under 1600watts.

Phil runs W7 so I see why now you can run more than 4

I had purchased 20 coa's  from a recycler.  So my cost to run windows 7 pro was cheap.

The biostar z170 builds are very compact units for 95-100mh at 600 watts or so.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1584973.0  from first post in the thread

it is rig1 doing about 95-96

the goal will be the three z170's on this rack from

target.http://www.target.com/p/adjustable-3-tier-wire-shelving-black-room-essentials/-/A-13892292?

they will mount here we extended the loft  in the solar array so they will face that fan  we also cut back on the s9's in that photo  we had six we now have three

I like the Biostar mobo -- nice touch sensor switch for power/reset/turbo too.

I was really surprised that the box it came in is so "fancy" and expensive looking - unlike ASrock H81 Pro BTC  Grin

1 Ballistic 8GB Kit (2 4GB) DDR3 1600 RAM........................................$  32.99 (discounted when buy with motherboard)
1 Intel Celeron G1840 Processor (2.8GB, 2MB Cache LGA1150).............$  34.99
1 Windows 10............................................................................. ....$  25.00 (bought on Amazon)
1 Super Multi DVD Writer.................................................................$14.99
2 3/8 Aluminum Plywood Trim (Lowes)..............................................$  8.98
2 1/4 Aluminum Plywood Trim (Lowes)..............................................$  5.98
1 1/16in x 1/2in x 3ft Angle.............................................................$  2.18
32 #8 x 3/8in Screws.....................................................................$  2.00
                                                                                          Total  = $1628.07

Output:

-total system hashing  = 141.2mh
-each gpu hashing  = 23.5mh
-ave wattage = 77W (range 68-81)
-total system Watts = 911W
-total system Amps = 7.73A

Here are pics of the Rig:

Here is the Profitability:

ETH = $13.00
Cost for the Rig: $1628.07
Warranty GPU & Motherboard: 2yrs
Profit/day:  ~$7.42
Usage: 911W

Calculation for Daily Power Usage and Cost of Electricity.
Electric Cost = $0.12 cents per KW
911W / day = .911KW
.911KW x 24hrs = 21.86KW

21.86KW x $.12 = $2.62 / day for the cost of running .911KW of electric.

Profit = 7.42 - $2.62 = 4.80/day
4.80 x 30 = $144/mo

ROI = 1628.07 / 144 = 11.31 months ROI

Notes:
1. If you buy all of this on Amazon using Bitcoin on Purse, you can get it 20% off = Grand Total of $1302.46  ROI would be 9.04 Months!
2. If you get better electric rates, you would be more profitable!

Nice rig Aries - love those black and red MSI stripes - take a photo with lights off, you could see that MSI dragon badge..

BTW, where in Amazon can you buy Win10 for 25 bucks?

Yup... totally agree with Citronik, that rig looks sweet! And nice breakdown on the components and ROI.

I really like that metal frame you used... did you build that yourself or buy it somewhere?  If/when I build a 2nd rig, I wanna do it like that so I can easily move it around if needed.

In addition, can you share how you got these GPUs running at 23.5?  I have 3 of the exact same cards and they are getting 20.7 each using Claymore 7.2.  This is similar to the initial 20.5 you mentioned being the out of the box speed, but I am looking for the easiest way to increase the speed of mine up to the mid-20's like yours.  Was it something you did in the settings in Claymore or did you mod/overcloud the cards in some way?

This may be a good start.  The premise is the same.  Use polaris bios editor to tweak the memory settings.  There are additional tweaks you can make, but you run the risk of hosing your card.

Make sure you back up the original via GPUz, so you can always go back !

without rom modding, you can try this.
1. - ethi 16 (maximum ETH hashing using CDM)
2. Crimson 16.9.2

with rom mods:
At present, all my RX480 rigs are zapped with Heliox rom mods the lowpower29mhs version with 16.9.2, stable for weeks at 29.5-29.7MHs. In GPUZ, watts per card is 90s but actual should be more than this but definitely better than 150w. I can run 6 x 480s using a 1300w easily (1000w PSU can do the job).

The upgrade is no longer free. That expired back in July, if I'm not mistaken
