follow up on plug.  Inlet: NEMA L6-30P Twist-Lock Male Plug   this is on the more expensive  base unit.

so your wall socket needs to be 30 amp  10 gauge wire

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-Wall-Receptacle-30-Amp-250-Volt-Twist-Lock-3-Prong-Nema-L6-30R-/121131889284?

If you use the wall socket the pdu and the extension cords   you can do around 12 500 watt setups.

or 10 600 watt setups

What pdu do y'all recommend for a 220-240?
Never bought one before so I'm new to it

Any PSU will do 120v or 240v. I've used Corsair, Thermaltake, and Rosewill all Gold rated and have had good luck. Just make sure you keep the load below 85℅ and keep the temp low

I was thinking something along the lines of

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050JSCPQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_doiqybG61W8FJ

never never buy new pdu ..

1 exception you are using some one elses money and you don't like the person Grin Grin

I will find some links from good eBay sellers.

Haha oh I was not going to buy new!!
I was just using that as an example

that is over kill  but tell me what amount of power will you need.

a 30 amp pdu  will safely do 24 amps at 240 = about 6000 watts

plug 2 of these into
http://www.ebay.com/itm/hp-Modular-PDU-Extension-Bar-Series-HSTNR-PS03-P-N-411273-002-7-Connections-/272447379057?

wait for link
into here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Server-PDU-Control-Unit-240VAC-HP-EO4501-PN-228481-002-SPN-417580-D71-sn-78381-9-/252661219696?

note this item need to plug into a dedicated 30 amp 240 volt socket

That's exactly what I wanted!!
I have a decdicated 240-30amp outlet
Thank you once again Phil

I found the ZEC mining stress the GPU more than the ETH. So I have to reduce the core frequency for my R9 390. Anybody else notices that?

I've seen exactly the opposite on my R9 280x and HD 7870s - less power draw, and somewhat more stable, while making quite a bit more than on ETH.

Not inclined to mess with trying to switch the triple R9 290 box though since it's LINUX and I've been getting reminded a LOT lately of WHY I hate trying to run a mining machine on Windoze.

@ xleejohnx you are welcome.

I just took apart the solar array  zec rig.
I pulled the ram the cpu the cpu cooler.  keeps blue screening.

I built a new booster four card rig. I used all visiontek rx 460 cards.
This is a two wire rig! That is correct it uses the 8 pin cpu wire and the 24 pin mobo wire nothing else for power.

I want to make the most compact rig with the least amount of wires for power.

Can not be less then the mobo and the cpu wire.

It does 295H at 210 watts.

To further the build to the smallest size I ordered this psu.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CGGOXWQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

so this should be the smallest cleanest 4 card build possible.

and since the psu has a pcie cable I could pull 1 rx 460  and add 1 rx470 or rx480 to boast hash to about 400h

Back to ZEC for a moment... can someone explain the reward increase thing to me?  I thought I had read early on that the first month or so of ZEC mining would be "slow" and then at a certain point (block 20,000 i thought), it would be 3 or 4x what it is now.  But alas, now what little info on this I can find, I can't seem to comprehend how it will impact those of us who are mining ZEC.

Block reward was ramping from a fraction of  ZEC per block to 12.5 ZEC per block over the first 38 days (or so). To us, we get more ZEC per round all things being equal (hash rate, etc.). This increases the available supply to sell. Unless demand goes up, ZEC price will fall.

Wait on the nanos. There allegedly is a 490 coming "soon". It will use HBM2, if you believe all the hype

Claymore's magic miner can't work further with current 480s but supersonic on the Fury/Nanos with HBM -- I look forward to the 490s with HBM but.... $$$ cant be too expensive - ie. more than a Nano. Also Nanoes are small - half the size with many cores vs the RX4XX, which is ridiculously long and bulky.... decisions, decisions...

http://www.eteknix.com/amd-rx-490-retail-listing-pops-up

More FUD that the 490 is near.

Hi Phil,

the RX460s.... some say its underpowered for hashing ZEC.... thoughts?

I am mulling over 480s or 470s for my next 5 Biostar Z170 4xGPU builds.

Or should I just wait for the illusive 490s?

Thanks

So we do not need to power it with a PCI-e cable ? I love that. That advanatge was near to make me take 750 Tis, but that might now make my heart pulse for those little beasts Tongue !

Really quiet build you can sleep with it easy.

I will take some photos of it.for the weekend

I think I figured out the issue on the build at the solar array.  It may be a bad ssd or a bad sapphire card.

My money is on a bad ssd.

70-80 h/s.... hmmmm that so small..... my R7-370 does 110 h/s and that is whisper quiet and very low lower consumption.... I think its only 150$ per card or maybe less... BUT it still need 1 x PCI cable each card  Angry

Right now I am running 24 cards in my house.

the crash[ed] 4 card build at the solar array.

in what manner did it face plant?

my claymore builds will time out via the watchdog and reboot; no lockups (only happens when i fiddle with voltage with underclocking cpu/gpu). rock solid otherwise.
