guys I'm looking to buy some cards r9 280x or 750ti What would you advise?

Depends.... 750Ti's are good at the moment but there is not much to mine with them so if the few profitable coins die they will be useless. Much more stuff to mine with 280x's and if you get them used they can be a good deal. I have a lot of 280x's and some 750Ti's and I can tell you that 750Ti's dont have much of an advantage in powersavings actually. If you know what you are doing you can get your 280x's running at 0.756V and they will be on par with the 750Ti  on energy costs still pumping out more Khashes.

If you are just starting it's probably not the best time to enter anyway...

Glad I held on to a few million JPC, but live and learn I guess on the 10mil that I sold for 2sat...

Still very happy with where everything is right now, but that is just hard to look back on and not feel some regret.

Now if I can just get DRK to head back in the right direction. I don't want to be a day trader...

I know the feel, bro Cheesy http://explorer.jackpotcoin.info/address/JP9QfGF7DWBwiWUBHZMdvWo9uDr5Zu22aV
I sold all of that 2sat too, it was what I mined with my 2 750ti's Wink At first I hodled, but it stayed at 2 sat for too long (a few days Tongue ), so I dumped it all.. Lesson learned (/me looks at talkcoin)

My experience show the opposite opinion. I don't have 280, but I have 7950 and 290x. I don't bother attaching KillAWatt meter to 750Ti -- just feel the temperature and you know it is not burning. No external fans, no noise, I am super happy so far, even I did not make ROI so far on 750Tis -- I haven't made ROI on any cards yet, but mining itself is fun.

The top coin holder (at least with that address alone) is sitting on $53k right now, which has at least doubled today.

I can't imagine the jig I would be dancing among all my separate sell orders for half my coins if I made $25k in one day with a bunch of graphics cards. Smiley

Anyone have any tips on KopiemTu 1.3?

I have a USB stick on it's way to hopefully give it a try this coming weekend or so, and just wanted to know what I am in for... I have read up on their thread a little, but it glosses over some little things like 'configure your cards'.

I think I have played around with a linux install for about 3-4 hours total in my life...

I think OC'ing is only available by flashing BIOS right now, but that may have changed as well.

Looking more for complete stability right now over a few extra hashes... and I know Christian has mentioned he mins on Linus (Ubuntu I believe) right now, so there must be some advantages.

Also wondering what the process is like with that when a new version of CCminer gets released... is it pretty quick to get an update? I am thinking of just finding a compiler tutorial for creating the program from code there....

Thanks for any tips or links.

Kopiemtu works nice right out of the box.
You just have to edit the .conf files with your mining settings.

Linux is a little strange at the beginning. but feels comfortable after a while.
Just take your time to get into this new world.

I control & update my rigs via ssh only (putty is a nice windows client).

A word about the stability:
root@kopiemtu:~# uptime
08:20:46 up 46 days,

compiling a new version of ccminer is quite easy.
just log in via ssh and use this commands one by one...

cd /opt/miners/
git clone https://github.com/cbuchner1/ccminer
cd ccminer
./autogen.sh
./configure
make

How long have you been mining? I got my 750ti rigs about 3 month ago, paid 2.4 btc per rig (6x750ti, they are more expensive here than in the us) and I'm geting really close to return the invest ( 1.94 btc per rig after electricity expenses).
But, the fun is priceless Wink

0.756v? that's below the minimum in idle for 280x series, i don't think you can get them so low , unless the core is also around 300, which make the mining pointless

Christian will give us a new toy soon.  Grin

Suggest what is it?
X13 ?? No no not something easy like that.
It's even better.
It's Cryptonight (MRO/QCN/FCN) nVidia-miner.  Grin

It's ****ing genius.
Any update on this one? AMD mining of Cryptonight is only "okay" -- basically around the same efficiency as a CPU in my experience. Still, given the poor performance of most other coins right now, it's something to look at.

it's also just okay on nVidia. It's because how the algorithm was designed (memory hard with plenty of random access)

A GTX 760 can rival an 8-core AMD FX CPU @4 GHz. So my Asus MARS rig (3 MARS ROG cards) is able to do 2.1-2.2 kHash

I'm already preparing my wallet for donations for when it will be released.
Keep up the good work Christian
