So my bank calls my after I initiated the wire! And they are saying they don't send ANY international wires!
Are banks weird or what? I used to think they were, now I KNOW they are! Funny thing, Canaan's bank is
Citibank, a much larger USA bank than my puny bank!
So now I am talking to Canaan about supporting the blockchain and trying to get to the bottom of why they
don't accept it in the first place. Sorry if I misjudged any of you based on your reluctance to send a wire!!!

I apologize and I eat crow!

I've sent a wire transfer from my bank before and it was no big deal. Paid for some stuff from bitmain and spondoolies a few years ago. While I don't see why Avalon won't accept bitcoin for payment I also don't see why people have a hard time sending wire transfers. Avalon probably have a limit to what they can convert per month and they probably are going over that limit already. Im sure they have to pay most of their expenses in fiat.

They charge $25 to use BTC as a payment method.

I'm pleased to say that both Kano and I have received an A7 each from Canaan for continued support of these devices in the official cgminer, and the code has already been merged into the master cgminer.

Agreed, previously, until my bank refused to send a wire to Hong Kong, looked at other options and they all involved a 3-5 day delay
so I can understand why folk on this forum not only think that that is asinine but also wish to exploit the ease of using crypto currency
and NOT dealing with freaky bank policies and procedures!

"The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later. The thing you were trying to post was saved as a draft. This limit decreases substantially as your account becomes more established. "

Tried to send this to an admin:

"I am trying to contribute to this forum. This message is starting
to get real old, just following up on a few threads requires me to
post 2-3 in succession:

"The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later. The thing you were trying to post was saved as a draft. This limit decreases substantially as your account becomes more established. "

..."

Tried to reply to another poster in this thread:

This is strange. Shouldn't they just say pay this amount of bitcoin?! I mean does every USD transaction say please add 0 BTC?!
I mean come on! So many companies have a built in fee or use a slightly different BTC value to account for fluctuations that
that should be more the common practice. I am wondering if there isn't ANOTHER reason they are being so sketchy??? Does
anyone know? I am about to spend my money there and would like those that have had experiences PAYING this company to
post a bit more, thanks!

I should be getting 2 miners from them sometime next week.

Since they price to just over 2 k  I expect a biil from fedex for customs.

I will run a nice long thread with db meter 4k dps 2500 psu's  which are more efficient then the dps 2000 psu's.

These may be bearable sound wise

After running mine for a day, it stabilised at 6.3Th for 1040W at the wall, though I'm using gold PSUs so expect a bit less power usage with platinum.

The more interesting thing is when I undervolted it to 4700mV, it seemed quite stable at 770W for about 10% less hashrate. Lower levels of voltage seemed to kill the hashrate or were unstable. I'll conduct more experiments in a couple of days when I'm not in offpeak electricity to see exactly what that undervolted hashrate is.

Avalon added intelligent auto overclocking/undervolting in the Avalon4 so you might be seeing the initial settings vs what the miner may have headed towards on its own. I have no idea on the time periods of adjustments but I'd assume they're measured in hours rather than minutes.

Yes I've experimented with the code that speeds it up over time. The device needs to have heat soaked and be relatively thermostable otherwise they have to be ramped up very slowly. Dealing with 16nm is much tricker in this regard. The original code took 2 hours to stabilise. I've experimented with changes that reach stable levels in 2 mins.

My credit union doesn't know what a "wire transfer" is (and the last one from before my move knew what they were but didn't have the capability to do one).
Many banks don't do them either, even when they know what they are - they want to do ACH transfers any more instead, which is basically just a newer technology to do the same thing.

THAT is why some of us have "a hard time sending wire tranfers" - we CAN'T.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

I don't know how a credit union couldn't know what wire transfer is.  Its a fundamental way for banks to transfer money both domestically and internationally.  ACH generally has limits in place.  If you have a routing number for your checking account, you should be able to wires funds to and from it.

A lot of local credit unions do not do international wire transfers, therefore the low ladder employee is not aware of what it is

yeah  but in the USA  sending bank to bank is easy.

once you send out of the country it is not easy.

My bank will do private person to person to 8 or 9 countries. China is one but only to 1 bank in China the Bank of agriculture.
for personal for business and buying a bitcoinminer would be business I would need to go to the office and open a business account leave 5k usd in it at all times or be facing fees

So this 2.1k purchase would be really hard to do.

They did take btc from me and charged a 25 usd fee.  so my 2 and a controller are on the way.

The 25 fee would be at least 25 less then if I open a new account and do a transfer.
Plus my bank is facing a scandal google Wells Fargo Bank scandal.

From past experience every bank I have belonged to if caught in a scandal then crosses every mother fucking t and dots every i.  and  asks 2 to 3 times the info since they were just caught. So After offering paypal and an 80 dollar fee which they said no they did take btc with a 25 dollar fee.

As to switching banks  sure I can do that.  It will take me 4 months to fully switch as I have multiple accounts with multiple direct deposits and direct payments.

So I said no to the bank transfer.

That could be certain governments wanting to exercise control. Something about great firewalls and such... but that's mere speculation fueled by wild conjecture.

No mining at the moment.
