I got my L3 from Eastshore.xyz one week ago. It is currently mining on antpool.com (around 1.3 LTC/day), but I could not manage to get it working on nicehash. Is anybody doing it?

I tried using

URL :  scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333
Worker: [BITCOIN_ADDRESS]
Password: x

and

URL: scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333#xnsub
Worker: [BITCOIN_ADDRESS]
Password: x

But the miners says the status of the pool is "Dead"...

This is what I got from Nicehash after sending them all the info:

It seems that this Antminer L3 has issues with mining anything but pure Litecoin. Obviously Bitmain did a bad job in implementing the software/firmware of this miner. You might want to contact them and let them now about these issues.

Any help will be appreciated

I am running a DC with L3s.
I can confirm that the following will work:

You must use a (/) between 3333()#xnsub for this miner.

URL: stratum+tcp://scrypt.usa.nicehash.com:3333/#xnsub
Worker: [BITCOIN_ADDRESS]
Password: x
or
URL: stratum+tcp://scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333/#xnsub
Worker: [BITCOIN_ADDRESS]
Password: x

IF solo mining:
Drop the (/#xnsub) and use your Litecoin wallet address not a Bitcoin address or a exchange deposit Litecoin address.

URL: stratum+tcp://stratum.solo.nicehash.com:3333
Worker: [LITECOIN_ADDRESS]
Pssword: x

Try and advise.

Mining LTC and other alts since 2014 when I thought I missed the BTC train.

Not working...

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/tioybujke7q4v1v/Status3.png?dl=0

Note that in the status tab, "/#xnsub" is mising. But I connected to de L3 by ssh and confirmed that the used config file includes it:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/loxnrin11pd6l8d/cgminer.cong.png?dl=0

Seems that my L3 is "hardcoded" to work only with antpool!!!

Well im using stratum+tcp://scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333#xnsub in all my L3'a and its working perfect, in cgminer You should pass "/" after port number, it is needed in bfgminer for example which is in titans.

Nice from far but far from nice

Please, those with an Antminer L3 mining on nicehash (or ever mined), could you check your miner's hardware version? This is what I see in the "System Overview" tab:

Code:
Hardware Version:      1.0.1.1
Kernel Version:        Linux 3.8.13 #22 SMP Tue Dec 2 15:26:11 CST 2014
File System Version:   Tue Nov 22 17:55:48 CST 2016

Maybe my miner has an old firmware? The kernel is from Dec 2014...

Did you do any firmware update? I could find NOTHING about Antminer L3 on Bitmains web.

Well, at least there is a difference in the File System Version. I opened another ticket in Bitmain asking for firmeware differences/updates. Think they won't give me any helpfull answer, but there is not much to do except opening new tickets every day.

Bitmain answers quite fast to the open tickets... Although not very helpfull:

Code:
Dear Mpenagar,

Your firmware is a little bit older. We have not published the Dec 19 firmware for the L3, so it might not be available. I will check and let you know.

In the meantime, we have heard from customers that there may be issues with Nicehash mining from Antpool, due to the difficulty level. Please do check with Nicehash to see if that is the issue for you.

Regards,
Barbara

I think I found my problem.

It could be a firewall issue:

  • I can mine on stratum-ltc.antpool.com:8888
  • I can mine on litecoinpool.org:8080
  • I cannot mine on scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333
  • I cannot mine on litecoinpool.org:3333

After 2 months of mining the most time the L3 worked without faults, just one time it dropped 1 hasboard but after the reboot it came back for regular hashing. Few days ago the miner crashed and when I checked the miner status I noticed that the board2 loss 4 asic chips, and I was surprised that this was not hashboard3 that always generated a lot of HW errors. At this time I can't get 4 asic chip to come back up even after the reboot. I contacted Bitmain and they confirmed that the repair cost is around 35 USD for each board without warranty, plus shipping cost. I'm going to create a repair ticket and ship the hashboard back. I just hope to get help from Deep In The Mines to create a return label with their discounted shipping rate.
I noticed that the hardware defects are starting to appear after two months of use and the example is my L3 and two L3 from Longsnow.
Anyone minnig more than 2 months without serious issue?

Just get plp to buy miners. And then after warrnty is out, boards start dying. At least repari is only 35$. But two way shipping and time lost on minning.

This is exactly why I posted my saga on the L3's here.  My L3's ran fine for a while also.  But just like the S9/R4/T9's they almost always seem to start off working just fine.  Then the problems start.  So that is why I hoped to share this wisdom with people here about the L3's and to be aware that the same issues that Bitmain has with their other miners are here on the L3 also.  They just don't make a reliable miner.

However warning people isn't enough because everyone thinks that "accidents" and "problems" happen to other people.  So we continue to buy this junk thinking it won't happen to us.  The cost of shipping unless you get lucky to have someone help you like "@Deep In The Mines" to let you print a shipping label with him will cost you a fortune even if the board repair cost is reasonable.

Next problem is that when you ship back to them it goes to a Hong Kong address.  From there once they get it they told me it can take 5-10 days for it to be shipped to China and processed through customs.  Then the repair can take place.  No estimate on that time required.  Or the shipment time to get it back.  So at this point I think I am probably being very conservative when I say it will likely be at LEAST 1 month before this is all done and the board is back.  Sadly I have 1 hash board out for repair and one controller/io board out for repair.   Just waiting for the next board to bite the dust while I am waiting on the stuff I have already shipped to get shuffled around, fixed, and sent back.

So I know I am probably wasting time sharing this experience with people, but hopefully it will help a few people who will take heed.  Until these miners are sold in other markets and you have someone like "BitmainWarranty" doing repairs locally the time to get a board repaired is very long and the cost is high.  Even with local repair the cost is still high.  So take it for what it is worth.

I won't be in a hurry to buy more L3's and certainly NOT the L3+.
