In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term.  

As long as an alt coin provides great quality product or services and people are utilizing it more oftenly or maybe if an alt coin becomes an object of necessity then, it will be one of the reasons why it would stay and survive for a very long time. For example,
Dent coin - Providing cell phone load and services.
Trx coin - an alt coin use for subscribing exclusive private videos through pornhub.
I believe these 2 alt coins are good example of coins that will one day be at the top 20 of in-demand alt coins.

That is quite hard to predict. There are so many new altcoins and they need time to show their behaviour at the market. The strongest coin for now that has been around for a long time is ethereum.
