But you know that a shitload of shorts does not always lead to the contrarian direction? If it were so it would lead all markets to do nothing more than badshit crazy range bouncing.

Normally a market got depressed by a shitload of shorts till it reaches a price level where the demand is so extraordinary high that the lasting and new shorts got burned.

Still no double digits in sight?

I predict the mother of all crashes coming if they do more "stress testing" now that the fork issue is also coming to a headline near you.

When are they going to start stress testing again? I heard it would vaguely be sometime in September but is there anything more specific than that yet like a date? I don't want to have my payments stuck in limbo for days like during the last test, but I also don't want to start paying higher fees until absolutely the last minute.

Yep, that entire drama candle could almost be chalked up to longs closing and shorts adding, for a about a $3 drop.

Not saying that was the bottom, we are far from seeing a conclusion on the max_blocksize argument, but longs adding while shorts closed would have been a much uglier scenario.

thank you Gavin for losing me money Roll Eyes Angry

Why Gavin? Is he holding your private keys and selling your stash or what?
If not you meann the people who are selling their coins. It's their decision to sell if they want. And it's also their decision if they choose to run another client. This is how open source and free market works.

If they do that then I think it will be a scenario that Bitcoin will have difficulty of recovering from. It might be the beginning of the end, and something else will take over.

We now have four red candles in a row on the weekly chart. That hasn't happened since the crash last winter.

interestingly, we're still down less than 50% for the last twelve months which means we're STILL out performing WTI crude. Is oil dead?

I don't know weather to say this is the dump before a big significant pump or the beginning of the crash. Either way, I don't think the price is ever going to drop below $200 again. I'm suspecting from the media attention the should be a bit of a price increase soon.

Comparing bitcoin to crude is meaningless. Sorry, but it's true.

Yes, the technology is, but the particular instance of blockchain technology called Bitcoin might very well decrease in value and popularity until its put in a museum as something similar but better wins over the popular support.

Well, it seems to me after watching some of the technical debates that bitcoin has a serious problem with the beta status and a value of $4billion. It makes it extremely hard to fix technical issues just because of it's value. It can never really get out of the beta status and fix the real issues.

Better we find all the bugs/attack vectors while Bitcoin's still in beta.  People keep forgetting that this is a prototype, an experiment, not a money printing machine.

who invited this guy?   Huh
