9554 Bitcoin Belonging To ISIL Seized By Hactivists

Kopp Online, a German news website, has just published an article which mentioned that Ghost Security Group hactivists have managed to control a bitcoin address related to ISIL and were able to lock out 9554 bitcoins that were going to be used to spread terror all around the world.

Kopp Online, published an interview with “Anonymous”, a group of hactivists who have declared war against ISIL following France’s attacks. Here is a quote from the article that was written in German:

Jetzt feierte die Hacker-Gruppe Ghost Security Group bereits einen ersten Sieg: Sie sperrte ein Konto des IS mit 9554 Bitcoins.
A great fuzz was created last week in the media, when Anonymous declared war on ISIL and also following NewsBTC’s interview with Ghost Security Group. However, according to the article on Kopp Online, there is no evidence that can prove that GSG really seized 9554 bitcoins from ISIL’s BTC addresses, especially that the website didn’t publish any BTC addresses related to GSG’s attack operation on ISIL.

http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/bitcoin-blog/there-is-zero-evidence-that-9554-bitcoin-were-seized-from-isis-by-hacktivists

"There is absolutely no reason to believe this, because no mathematical proof on the blockchain has been presented at all. The four entities involved in this story are all NONSENSE:
GhostSec - zero credibility "hacktivist" (lol) group that provides no proof of their wild claims
NewsBTC - FUD-spreading website
Dr. Tamer Sameeh - editor-in-chief at NewsBTC who is falsely claiming to be a "doctor" when his CV only says Master in Pediatry (big difference)
Kopp-Verlag - German entertainment magazine, not trustworthy source.
The article has no concrete evidence produced whatsoever. For all we know it could be the fantasies of children who are claiming to be a hacker group, no credibility has been established. There's been no corroboration offered, and inexperienced and unprofessional "news sites" have been spreading this non-story with headlines like "9554 Bitcoin Belonging To ISIL Seized By Hactivists". NewsBTC has clickbaited the story using source from "Kopp Verlag". And from a German redditor on /r/Bitcoin we learn more about this:"

The market doesn't seem to be able to decide which way to go. I think we may be at a tipping point right now in the sense that soon we're going to plummet & go to about 280 or pump to 360.

This period of stability makes me uneasy.

i like this stability... lets keep this sideways till x-mas   Cheesy

Why the hell would you want that? Let's rake one more large profit sweep out of Bitcoin before everyone in the world offers blockchain value transfer. Up, up and away.

hahahahahahahaha

Is that a joke that you are making?

Yes,  blockchain is the new buzzword, but so far there is no there, there.

In other words, no meaningful competition has yet been proposed, which in essence is bullish rather than bearish for bitcoin, both long and short term.

Only a few bulls believe the lone whale manipulator theories; however, thousands of bears like to propagate such myth and attribute such bullshit to the bulls and to act as if the bulls thought of this themselves.    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

My take on what happened:

A couple of days ago, hackers from Anonymous claimed to have located an address belonging to IS with 3 M USD worth of bitcoins in it.

The German Kopp reporter read that announcement, and either misread that word as locked (sperrte?), or just assumed that the authorities had promptly called the CEO of Bitcoin and told him to freeze that account.

The NewsBTC owner/writer saw that German report and changed the locked to seized (which is the usual term for that thing in bank contexts).
