Hey WO guys 'n' gal(s)!

Earlier today, as I was staring at my 3D printer (very therapeutic) while it was printing a cute doll as a present for my little niece, I thought of a great idea (IMHO) for storing copies of our Bitcoin seeds as a backup.

When a 3D printer prints an object, there is a parameter called "infill", which controls how "solid" the object is going to be. The standard infill value is 20%, meaning that the object will be internally filled with 20% of material. Lower values save material, produce lighter objects, while still maintaining good strength by filling the inside of the object with various patterns, such as triangles, honey-comb shapes, etc. To have an idea of how the object looks internally, see the image below, showing varying infill degrees for 3D-printed parts:

The idea: pick an object you like (preferably not related to Bitcoin) as a decoration to your home/office, and 3D-print it with an infill of around 10% (a very coarse inner structure). Prepare a small piece of paper with the seed (or part of the seed, or whatever you want to hide/backup), roll it and slip it inside the object as it's being printed. When the printing completes, the piece of paper or whatever you have placed inside the object will be completely sealed and there is no way to tell if there's anything inside, unless you break it or X-ray it. The beauty of 3D printing is that the final object is geometrically completely closed and there are no openings or seams on its surface. You could even split the seed in different parts and scatter them inside decorations at home/office.

I think it's a cool and inconspicuous way to hide things...
I would print a hammer of Thor (disregard google results, there is something really wrong there) and wear it always.

7th WO/7k again, this is fine.

Nice green dildo, but I'm with LFC_Bitcoin on this: with such fuel 8k may be not too hard to reach today.

5600 is more likely

You had your chance, jonoiv...

squandered an opportunity, and now your are wishing for the opportunity to come back because you can never get enough.. right?  You always want lower, right?

Looked a gift horse in the mouth at $4k-ish, but no, you wanted MOAR...   I pity the fool......... aka jonoiv.

Consider this:

It just goes to show how incredibly hard it is to be a hodler and how few can do it.

It sounds easy, but in practice, only a person who sees more bitcoin as the goal rather than more fiat can do it.

Taking profits means getting more bitcoin, anyone thinking the other way will not make it to the holy land. There are many more tests ahead.

I don't know about the rest of the WO, but I can't sleep if I have fiat, it's too risky.

Love that point of view. I simultaneously cringe and rejoice when it goes down, watching my holdings in red and buying more. Same when it goes up because I can buy less for same amount of fiat. I've been practicing disciplined DCA'ing though to combat my natural FOMO temptations on either side of the rise/fall curve.

There should not be too many folks who are DCA'ing into BTC for 3-4 years to be in the red at these prices.. even though maybe NOT in very wonderful territory...

The quickie DCA website does not show 3.5 years.

It only shows 3 years

or 4 years

Either way, ongoing DCA does seem to be the way to go, but I could see if you made some mistakes along the way, it could take a bit of time to really get into profits (and of course, we know that UPPITY BTC price performance is NOT guaranteed, either).

A few thoughts about the current state of affairs (at least in US):

1. I really dislike working from home. Now I am basically attached to a computer. Before it was for fun, now a job. Hate it (but it beats unemployment).
2. Talking about unemployment, my SO got furloughed, getting about 90% of her regular paycheck (if you include additional $600/wk COVID UE). Not bad, but this level will last only 13wk, unless extended, which I doubt-too expensive. After that-TX max, which is $521/wk.
3. Because everything is closed, $$ keep accumulating in the bank account. Will it cause too many $$ chasing too few services when the economy reopens-it is quite possible. I plan to give YUGE tips if and when restaurants reopen.
4. Got $1200/adult check on Wed (as did the most, I gather), doing nothing with it so far, but will send it back to the same place because I would owe something in taxes for 2019. It's funny how it works. It comes and then it goes back to the same exact place, darn it.

Still not buying or selling on the market as I am unable to read it. Maybe will do something soon, though, as some extra cash is burning hands.

EDIT: Pomp opines on current situation vs UBI.

On a strict technical basis, even if you are sending money to the taxman, you are ahead.  So, I find it a bit irritating to focus on having to pay taxes.

Surely, on the other hand, yeah, the way that tax money is being spent by various government entities is likely another great morass of complications.

Yeah, fuck it that the whole economy is fucked and that your dollar is likely going to buy less because services and products are going to have difficulties being available...  and probably weird affects on prices....   including that we don't even have tests and meaningful treatment for the virus that seemed to have gotten some of this ball rolling... at least, purportedly so.

I don't want to trust anyone slipping a private key inside my object.

That’s what _she_ said.

You need to explain to her that it's far more hygienic than using a public key.

I am talking there about getting a stimulus check(s), then sending the same funds (or a bit more) as an extra tax for 2019 back to the same place.
It would be easier just to have them cancel each other out in "midflight".
Taxes-yea, they are much smaller than the gains (when they come).

This is huge, and pretty badass.

Way more coinjoins, huge anonymity sets. No more fingerprinting. Goodbye fiat fucks.

Fantastic catch, fantastic news.  I hope this is as simple as it looks and gets widely adopted.
