I just got back from seeing a friend. He's been in and out of Bitcoin since 2017 (lost money of course). Did the usual what about these shitcoins thing, which I dismissed as well as I could. Anyway he said he has been trying to withdraw as much equity from his home as he can for the last several weeks. Should get it in a week or 2. He then says he was going to buy bitcoin with it when it was in the 50s and now he's really glad that it fell because he's going to be able to buy much more.

He agreed with me that holding was the way, lessons from past sales learnt.

Foolish, I will say though that if you are in your 20's go for it lol... you can recover from losses in your early years and learn a lesson, not in your later years (50 +)

someone bought at $60k +, wonder how they are feeling right now

First of all, your reading comprehension skills seem to suck, Gatorelf - especially to believe that you are understanding the age of the bitcoin buyer because the word "50s" was used in the post... but hey, maybe that is just a minor point.

Quote from: somac. link=topic=178336.msg57119716#msg57119716 date=1622368201
[/quote

Let me clarify your misunderstanding, I am speaking in general when someone takes the equity out of their home that's fine great to use for whatever is needed. I just think its foolish to put it all in a crypto currency. If the investor is 50 years old or older there is no fool like an old fool.
First of all you can do a little better to learn to use the quote system...

Secondly, I personally think you are coming off as a dick calling people "old fools".

Have you thought about the possibility that there are some folks here in the age group you are insulting who have possibly outmaneuvered you in their investments?

For me, the first COINRUN should go as far as 162021 (to be moderate using eurotime) by tomorow...

I guess it could take down a lot of CEX, it would be very funny !

but do you own your keys? can you replace your cex controlled btc by debasing fiat?

or maybe 132022 for this date?

Crypto?

What the fuck you investing in that amorphous shit for?

 Tongue Tongue

It’s official guys...
“bitcoin is not banned in India: Reserve Bank of India confirms! 🙌“
https://twitter.com/btc_archive/status/1399419891548033024?s=21

Bearish news, now it can be banned again.

The sheer amount of shitposting everytime China or India bans crypto for the nth time is going to cause the BTCT servers to lag like hell again. How am I supposed to shitpost like this? I need people to know that I delude myself into thinking that leverage trading is a good idea by posting images of other people's lambos every now and then.

Well there is 80x leverage, and then there is 8x leverage.

There is also leveraging up and there is leveraging down.

Leverage scares this kitty cat, even if it were to employ some kind of tactical use of a stop loss.. ... yet I understand if employed judiciously, there could be some quite profitable hits that outweigh the various numerous previous losses (or future losses after such leverage advocate might get cocky after having had profited stupendously after a mistaken 80x leveraged profit.. not referring to any peep in particular regarding this hypothetical).

I expect some steam to pick up into tomorrow.  Since we are in a holiday in the US some folks will be paying more attention to their grill than the chart, God bless 'em.  But I think we should see some volume and a break out of this triangle, and if to the upside then I think we might see a run at the top of our channel.

Downside is more obvious and boring.

under 100x not even gay cats are interested...

seriously, how many CEX are in bitcoin fractional reserve scam system, aka pretending to have more btc than they really do? I would surprise a lot, at least most shaddy, and maybe even some big, even without the management knowledge... not your keys, not your coins...

what's great with leverage short with fiat, is that you don't need btc, and will have to cover sooner or later...

a short squeeze + a coinrun... we get above the moon, making $gme and all this fiat cex players look like imbecile for eternity...

the one run... to mark all charts forever... until one day...
Since we are in a holiday in the US some folks will be paying more attention to their grill than the chart, God bless 'em.

as long as there is meat, and not some synthetic frankenfood pumped by the uno, I am in... I prefer insects... heheheh... rather...

that's the combo, the swarm sprung... the day.

Downside is more obvious and boring.

they don't have the coins... so they can attempt to lower the price with their unlimited fiat, until exchange can't fulfill withdrawals, first they will say it's a technical glitch, then it will spread to more exchanges, until it become clear to all, they lied, again.

not your coins as long as not on your keys !

using btc as collateral on a trade is madness, if on CEX... specially on one you can't audit the "full" btc reserve...

ps the more you defend the darkside, the you attract the light...

For those whose gibberish i only see when i am not signed up:

If you continue to trash "crypto", then I will use it in EVERY post just to f-g annoy you.

BTW, the first use of the word apparently harks back to 1681. Duh!

In addition, an illiterate person like you probably never read the "Cryptonomicon", "Sovereign Individual", etc. or aware of cypherpunks, etc.

@JJ is that you?

Edit: Nah nah my bad that's not you... You're WO exclusive!!!

U be talkin about me, willis?

I am not exclusive WO.. but yeah, so far, I have not really been mixing my interwebs nym with my real life presences..   there does seem to be some value in keeping such opsec separation, even though there is some value with public and real life presentations, too..... Sometimes online nyms are brought into the public or they become public, and sure if someone is on a panel then frequently their image becomes known, and I understand that some of those conference (in person) events do attempt to allow people to keep their nyms separate if they so prefer, but since the conference is so BIG, there are likely going to be some of us WO peeps attending such event (maybe even a significant number).

Actually, have you noticed that my laser eye avatar in recent times probably also helps to cover up a certain amount of identifying characteristics, so there is that angle, too.

Well there’s difference in online and real life of course but I don’t know why specially here on bitcointalk why I feel it more exclusive. May be people like to follow Satoshi footsteps? Why so much secrecy? It’s ok I understand in start it was unclear.. Bitcoin was shrouded in mysteries and everyone thought Bitcoin is a darkweb money. But now things have changed... we have passed that long back now Bitcoin isn’t a thing to be scared any more. In fact now it’s a thing of a pride. The older and richer you are in Bitcoin you got more respect.

We can see this on other platforms too people have came out and are advocating Bitcoin openly. I think because of Bitcoin you don’t need to hide your identity any more. I’m not sure when things will change on Bitcointalk or will never change who knows.

This is my personal thinking of course you guys can disagree and I accept that. There are pros and cons of being anonymous here on “bitcointalk” and list of pros will be longer Smiley

not undersanding opsec is one of the hallmark of doomed of feudal regimes... you really need the throne, isn't it? otherwise everyone would know that you have no clothes? like most cex...

one last time for good measure : not your keys, not your coins.

Don't forget to have fun... and yes I may have been too long on direct sun exposition today Smiley... if only that...

btctalk ain't facebook, I hope.

re old fools, old and rich, etc.
facts:
1. older people typically have more money/funds. It's a simple age-related compounding effect.
2. older people have had more f-s, but typically give less f-s about things that bother younger people. Think about that.
3. older people are stupider than themselves at a younger age, with partial compensation via experience, but even at the older age, they might still be smarter than some younglings who post here.

crypto...or rather "Crypto, ergo sum".
