I won't be happy until Mark is in jail or in a coffin. A lot of people lost a lot of money because of his shithole magic the gathering online xchange.
But how many people gained money because of MtGox?

Him and his employees... And whoever figured out the way to steal the 750,000 BTC. Anyone else who made money there paid fees to do so, so they are excluded.

TBH 750k coins is a hell of a lot to steal without notice, I suspect they were behind it all along. Nobody can do anything about it now lol.

It's a lot but they have been around a long time. When bitcoin was cheaper I'm sure they didn't care as much when they lost a few thousand at a time.

So what you are saying is Mark & Co. are idiots...  Money in has to equal money out. When you are leaking money, put a cork in it.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Now hopefully people understand the hodlers position of not sending their coins to third-parties.

In case anyone is interested, I downloaded the PDF of the "Crisis Strategy Draft" and took a look inside.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/209050732/MtGox-Situation-Crisis-Strategy-Draft

The owner of the PDF is listed as Ryan Selkis, so I googled him. Turns out he runs a company that aims to "reduce volatility for consumers while helping hedge funds invest in bitcoin". Way to go with the volatility reduction!

http://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanselkis

Nice find....so Ryan has some clients who want to purchase cheap Bitcoins, so.....

it's not a secret, right? He is known to be "twobitidiot" apparently. Also in Bitcoin Foundation. Google "ryan selkis bitcoin" and find some articles that identify him.

Well dammit. I just got a bunch of Gox BTC from BB today. Luckily it crashed because I was about to put in a lot more.  Grin

Same here Wink

Makes me wonder what happens to the bb-coins not "withdrawn" yet.

Makes no sense that the usd markets isn't moving. Basically nothing keeping it over 480 but no one is selling either. This if something lately should bring it down?

When will bitcoinbuilder.com go offline?
Do they really want to continue their business.
That´s nasty.

They can't settle the trades so doesn't matter.

Wait ... all is not lost.
I heard thru the grapevine that Mark Karpeles is going to try rebooting his laptop ... the original one not the loaner from blockchain.
Things might be okay after that.

and he's finally settling JPY withdrawals! he'll be back in business in no time. Just a wrinkle, that's all.

Anyone else starting to suspect that the recent large sells on Stamp were by someone who knew about the statement in advance?

the leaked document suggests GOX was or was planning to arbitrage their own exchange.

There are always going to be a core "club" of operators as well as others considered outsiders in any field of enterprise (including academia!!)

How true that is!

And I have no doubts which camp you are in Jorge Smiley

Depends on the field... I used to be sort of an "insider" in one or two, outsider in all the others...  Now I have lost my foot even in those.  I guess that being "outsider" in all fields makes me a "hermit".  Smiley

But, I do wonder if perhaps you haven't got a research grant (or at the very least compiling data for a paper or two) with your academic interest in crypto.

I had and have several research grants (in academia you are dead if you don't have one).  But not on cryptography.  I do not find the subject very exciting.  Partly because I am a "visual" kind of person and cannot "see" things there.  (I went into the Voynich Manuscript because I was convinced that it was not a  crypto problem, more likely a linguistic one.)

Hopefully its been priced in for the past 2 weeks.... no more big sells cause everyone already sold on the speculation. Also... they are waiting for the other exchanges to react... the spread is pretty decent right now.

Whales usually don't sell into no support cause they'd get very poor value.  Instead, they wait for a big wall.  That's why I always laugh when people are like "oh hey, we have good support here... oh crap, someone just blew through it."

And regular folk moving a coin or two don't matter since they can't make the market move anyway.

Chances of a silkroad takedown effect?
Gox was doing about as much damage to BTCs image as SR.

here come the walls. 300 btc at 490.

I have nice amount of fiat still sitting on exchanges. Not sure what to make of this now, tbh. BTC-e fucked me a bit with not going below 500.

Gox was doing about as much damage to BTCs image as SR.

Difference is that SR take down happened during an uptrend, the Gox debacle started during a downtrend.
