Until you bring the trading service online, I would like proceed by WITHDRAWING my FUNDS, not coins. Is there a particular reason I can't do that at the moment? I understand the "trading" / "coins" part, but the fiat part, where my money is stored in a bank account, is another matter.

Why have I been restricted access to my cash, especially now that you cannot provide any responsible ETA?

This is because we have temporarily suspended our services in an attempt to make sure that all of our customers’ Bitcoin and personal information remain safe. In addition; the technical and accounting issues related to your request would be too great from a risk based perspective for a secure re-launch of our website and service as a whole.
We are working to restore our full services in the coming days, at which time you’ll be able to resume withdrawals, deposits, and other Bitstamp services.

It makes perfect sense to me that they want to wait till they have a computer system ready to process the requests rather than spend their time doing withdrawals manually by e-mail with compromised security. I don't see the cause for concern here.

the swamp is following a well worn path ... first all the over-the-top KYC/AML and seizing of funds for non-compliance, then the unnatural dumping patterns and rampant short-selling (how much is by the exchange insider trading to get cheap coinz to balance out it's internal losses??) ... and now the "we got hacked!!" ... then oh but we will be closed for a few hours/days and we'll take the chance to overhaul our entire system and put up a new slick skin on our webpage  

this is almost the pathological progression of every other bitcoin exchange that is on it's way out ... good night, good riddance, they allowed some real scumbags (anti-bitcoiners) to set-up shop in their house. Take note, bitcoin has a way of dealing with its own ....
