Now that the hashrate is over 500 petahashes you'll probably start hearing the term exahash in a few months and zettahash maybe early 2017. Exponential functions are fascinating.

If you meant from one day to another then, sure.

Trolls work by cherry picking data. If you were buying a soda at a store with $10, until you got your change, they would say you were $9 down.

Deniers work by calling everything they can't refute with facts and logic 'trolling.'
It's super effective Smiley

@galdur: exponential functions are fascinating, mainly because people have such a hard time grasping them.

Yeah. If something increases by 50% every six months, it doubles every 8-9 months or so. I guess Joe Sixpack may have trouble grasping such concepts.

Hoping we get to around 350 by the end of the week. 320's ars damgerous in the sense there's not much of a cushion to sub 300.

Forget Joe Sixpack, I have trouble dealing with exponential functions. You, of course, have a much more powerful mind, and immediately answered "18,446,744,073,709,551,615" when presented with the linked riddle. Good on you! Smiley

Well, the doubling time rule of thumb is easy. The number 72.

So, if this hashrate ballooning continues at 10% every 14 days it´ll double in 7.2 times 14 days or so.

If only this site had a competent owner. How did he manage to get a stranglehold on the major forms of Bitcoin communication?

There's a new Wall Observer thread over on the Bitco.in forums, I'm sure people would love to see Chartbuddy (and anyone else interested) there. Lambies not welcome Smiley

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Not much to say today except it's looking pretty flat. No dip to buy, no rise to celebrate.

Ho ho hold hum.

Not all that well attended either. As parties go, this one is much is much more entertaining.

Some people here may take themselves (and TA) too seriously, but it serves to make humor all the funnier. If everyone's too serious, it's just a drag.

I wonder how Bitmain´s shipments of S7s have been going. Maybe they have quite the backlog. If that is the case it´s of course very bullish for difficulty looking forward. Maybe we´ll see one exahash by March or even sooner. And what the heck comes after that...yedi something? Probably by next fall. Just kidding  Grin

At any rate; exahash is a given in the next 3-6 months I guess.

So does a rising price follow a rising hash rate? Or is it vice versa? Obviously there's a corollation when you look at the charts.

I guess a rising price increases interest in mining and thus the hash rate increases. That´s how it usually is in production at least where I have worked. But asides from that; Bitmain is shipping those S7s which will increase the hash massively I´m sure.
