Worst year for bitcoin?
Hopefully not, but it definitely wasn't the worst year for Bitcoin at all.

2015 was the worst year for Bitcoin overall, with a low value, minimal community engagement and mostly stagnation within the growth and development of the technology that lead to zero progress being made. This year wouldn't be able to be the worst year for Bitcoin, assuming it only went as low as $250 again this year, because we made progress and got the community engaged with a lot of stuff happening over the past 5 and 1/2 months.

Well well well. I just got home after a successful day at the ballpark and patio after-partying.

Seems we're not scrapping over $650 any more. Now it's $680 (865CAD).

Jays won, Bitcoin up. Life is good. I hope all you alt fans are as happy.  Cheesy

dafuq is going on. i never understand these pumps. i love them and its exciting but i'm baffled as to why volume is way up when price miles higher than it was a short time ago.

are there really that many people who see it sitting at 250 for like 18 months who suddenly decide to buy when it's 600+?

It didn't sit at 250 for 18 months, it bounced up and down between 200 and 300. Nobody knew if the bottom was in and each time it went back down to 200 people panic sold in case it went further down to 100.

Can you predict how high it will go before crashing again? Will you sell at 5000, then watch it going to 50000 and not buy back at 10000 or 20000?

I can pretty safely say I'll never buy a $10,000 bitcoin. Just sayin'.

Quoted for posterity...

Never say never.

Indeed. There were probably people back in 2011 saying, "I'll never pay $10 for a bitcoin LOL!"

Exactly:   They were saying, "who's gonna pay $10 for internet play money?"

By now, we know better.    Wink    Wink

Merci. We're not doing half bad for purported early flightless contraptions, Ford Model Ts, Beanie Babies, magic beans etc  Wink

Let's just hope Etherians won't be smart enough to come here & remind us that BTC is only up because it's still down 50% since ATH.
Because that would really hurt.

And let's just hope Bitcoiners won't be smart enough to come here and remind you that since first posting your CMC charts, ETH's relative strength to BTC has grown not.

it's only up because they measure the eth/btc pair and BTC is mooning.  It's not because demand for Eth is up.  You'd know that it you weren't a fkn moron.  Wink

It's up because it dropped some 10% yesterday vs. BTC and Bitcoin's rise today pushed it above its dollar-denominated ATH causing fomo. It needs to do more work to snap the ETH/BTC downtrend it's been in since 0.034.

It might be just capital from people who cahsed out their BTC. Some are just reinvesting in alts hoping to get a little run up over there. Little do they know

Little do they know that eth has exactly 0 chance to be the "2.0 bitcoin". Let them play in the premined, PoS, "no-one-knows-whats this good for script garden", they will come home in time^^

I beg to differ. 2014 was the only calendar year in which Bitcoin's price actually fell. In 2015 it rose by over $100.

2015 was an excellent year for Bitcoin, an almost yearlong buying opportunity which allowed everybody to stock up on cheap coins.

For those latecomers who bought at 4-digit prices, it was an opportunity to dollar-cost-average the price of their coins down. For those of us who lost coins at Mt. Gox, it was a chance to replace them at a reasonable cost.

In the world of Bitcoin, 2015 rocked.

It's continuing up, it was 690 on finex just now. That's past the high from June of 2014 and only 10 dollars less than 700.
