There's a book called crap towns whose readers voted for the 50 crappest towns in the UK. Glasgow was voted joint fourth crappest with Edinburgh in 2004. If you want a crapper town than Glasgow try visiting Sunderland, Windsor, or Luton. The 2004 vote for the number one crappest town in the UK was Luton.

I don't really know who this pilkington bloke is. Luton seemed OK enough to me.  I've lived in Glasgow and Edinburgh and had a fine old time in both.  I even went on holiday to Hull and nearly shat myself with sheer joy but nothing's beaten Port Glasgow though most of Coventry runs it pretty close.

How far down will BTC prices have to go in order to achieve such an objective?  will $610 do it, or do we need to go below $580 in order to shed that quantity of longs?

They are some resilient buggers, it'll be pure speculation on my part but wouldn't be surprised to see $560 again. The short term halfening speculators need to give up hope and exit their position

Stop spreading unnecessary attempts of spreading FUD.
The blocks seem to be full due to the fact that miners are placing all of their prioritized transactions in the blocks creating a jammed up situation.

By prioritized I meant the ones which have higher mining fee.
Thats why the network is being clogged up. And thus the higher block size.

You could be correct that the longs have created some motivations to force them to be called; however, we have already had at least three attempts at $600 and only one other time that prices went below $600, only for a day, so there may be some difficulties getting to that $560 level, even though it would not be impossible.  I put the odds at less than 35% that we would go that low.. but I am just speculating too.

Regarding the crap towns vote, you missed out Sunderland. You really should visit it considering it was voted third crappest town in the UK. The best time to visit is when there's a home game against Newcastle on. Here's a few pictures of the aftermath of a previous game so you know what to expect.

Tbh, only problem I see is micro-transactions (like coffee), you can't pay quickly enough with bitcoin to be practical (seconds speaking here). Lightening should help with it though.

So, is seg-wit already adopted massively? Don't stuff like wallets and such clients still lack it? Because segwit is needed before lightening can be implemented.

Again...not a problem. As someone who has paid for coffee (actually it was a chai latte) with bitcoins. Not a problem whatsoever.

I did spent my bitcoins already, payment is instant but confirmation is not. It takes a while (10-20 minutes) I think.

Yep, transaction is instant. Which for things like micro transactions at a coffee shop, they are not too worried about a double spend. For one thing the transaction is small, secondly most people buying coffee at a cafe sit down there and drink it. And most companies price a small amount of theft into their business.

For big companies like Starbucks you just use the Fold app. Which you fill up your Starbucks card with bitcoins and pay at the counter with that card. Plus you save 20% on your purchase.

Most companies that accept bitcoins use a service like BitPay or CoinBase or Pey. Those companies handle the subtleties for their clients.

True, amount of thiefs made this way is not big enough to be worrying in real life . Though faster transactions will help raise bitcoin price!

Which is why lots of smart people are working on this.

Have you considered work where you're not so tied up to the government insanity that is the military?

One brief moment when I was looking for a job I added private companies to my list. My skillset is wide and not specialized because of how contracts work. They need someone to fill a slot, they'll put you in that slot even if you know it just a little as long as you have a lot of experience and have a degree (and a clearance). So I've been a network engineer, software engineer, system admin, Java/C++/.NET/Ada, etc. A wide range of skills but no specialization in one single skill. While searching for a job in the private sector they tend to look for someone that is very specialized in one skill set, especially at the senior level. I interviewed for several Java positions and one person told me that I was more of a junior level programmer but my salary requirement was senior level. Which was true since I use Java for most positions but I am never a Java developer.

Plus the clearance I have, only .001% of Americans have that clearance. Which makes it easy to get a good paying job for any job that requires that clearance. There is certainly no outsourcing of my job to lower paid foreigners. That and my willingness to travel and live anywhere in the world (including war zones) gives me a very good salary. Getting paid $250k-$500k per year is not unheard of for my type of work in war zone environments (working 84 hour work weeks, 365 days a year). That's a lot of bitcoins.

I do plan on retiring in a few years, work on something I can just do over the Internet and travel the world. I'll retire a lot sooner if bitcoin goes over $2-3k.
